This has nothing to do with grammar or spelling or anything like that. You need to be thinking in terms of medical science and biology. Does the medical community believe that a human being with male genitalia and organs can be a woman in other ways that are just as important as the physical.
Genes, brain, hormones, psychology, etc…
I’m sure at one time you thought depression was just people who chose to be sad. Now we know chemical imbalances in the brain and body cause people to be depressed. Children who suffer trauma or other adverse childhood experiences have physical and mental changes to their bodies as a result.
This could possibly explain your situation.

The mere fact people use the term "trans" by definition is not a woman.

Well biological men can never "be" women in any way shape or form.
Physically: No
Mentally: No
Emotionally: Maybe
There are feminine men, and masculine women, but that doesn't make one gender switchable.

My view on depression is simple.
Before we had dopamine rushes coming at us from all different angles:
TV
Phones
Fast Food
Pornography
Drugs
Etc.
Tell me, before all of that, how many people were depressed?

Think of it like an adjective, like "blond" or "tall." If you leave it off, the sentence works just fine, and as a bonus, the person who is in fact a transgender woman might actually appreciate it, you know, feel like you see them as a valid member of the community.
