..." Soils under long-established prairie grasslands can contain more than 10 tons of roots per acre with most of this bulk in the top 24 inches.

......The roots of some prairie plants can extend to a depth of 10 feet or more. Various studies of the potential for tallgrass prairie carbon storage have shown that the storage rates vary between .30 and 1.7 metric tons per acre per year. This storage ability is cumulative over time so prairie soil is able to sequester or store large volumes of carbon in a natural, safe, effective and reliable way compared to the risky and expensive practice of pumping CO2 underground.

An additional benefit of this “grassland carbon storage system” is that the sequestered carbon is supporting a lush prairie ecosystem above ground. "...

I am on topic, the foolish predictions of world ending doom. I guess dying from a hurricane is worse than a volcano. The point is, I've heard all of this garbage before. Been hearing it all my adult life, we are all gonna die if something, whatever that is, isn't done now. All I have seen done is elite govt and celebrity assholes fly around the world in private jets and lecture people about their grills, pizza ovens and lawn mowers. Science has been wrong about every long term prediction it has ever made for the last 40 years. You can follow that shit if you want, but the evidence for science making accurate predictions speaks for itself.

It's wrong to cede that term. It's not "science", "science" is a subset of rational epistemology, it doesn't talk.

Bold academics would be a better term.

Yes yet there is some who anticipated the future on various topics of bitcoin, bail-outs by USA citizens and  my first hearing of the phrase 'Greenhouse Effect' was in Fullers 1979 book " Critical Path ".

.."“The best way to predict the future is to design it.” ...."Buckminster Fuller said that. His words inspire me every day of my life. To follow them there is a list of steps to take. It’s easy, friend. Take them. You certainly won’t be bored."......
https://natie.com/post/design-the-future/

I dont recall ever reading such quote by Fuller. I dunno

"Load of shit". LOL

Go on......Add weight to the vegan argument.

Though I'm guessing that vegans shit methane too.

And as Central Europe scorches in the heat, Wales continues to be cool and wet.....Not much change there.

A snow calculator estimates potential snowfall amounts by analyzing weather forecasts, temperature changes, and precipitation data.

How accurate are they? We get faulty snow forecast very often.

Weather forecasting is far from a precise exercise.

When weather is settled it is predictable.

But when weather is unsettled it is less predictable...So forecasters will tell us that the weather will be unsettled.

Though this does not diminish the  benefits of the broader issues of meteorology.

I do agree with you celebrities and all these famous personalities don't care at all about anything. People are so blind and follow propaganda and bandwagon for all these internet freaks. All they care about is their image in front of the camera and that's their way of earning money. No one cares about the environment and tbh I don't either, we all have tons of things going on in our lives and no one has time to care or fix the enviornment. Even if a 1,000 people try or 10,000 try we won't be able to fix the damages and that's the truth.

Standard compliance to a system will inevitably leave some stranded...Such is the nature of the beast ...Or so it seems.

So it's catch 22...Comply and risk stranding or be non-compliant and risk arrest.

Depends upon the ramifications I suppose.

HaHa.

Is pregnancy a ramification of ramification.

All subject matter boils down to sex this morning.

Subject matter, everything is a double entendre.

The WMO State of the Climate 2024-2025 updates and IPCC reports confirm a "red alert" for the planet, with 2015–2025 being the hottest decade on record. Human activity has unequivocally pushed global temperatures up by
∼1.43∘C
∼1.43∘C
(compared to 1850-1900), resulting in accelerated ice melt, rising sea levels, and extreme ocean heating.

Hottest or warmest?

Heating or warming?

I guessing that in the dim distant past it was once both considerably warmer and cooler...Not at the same time, you understand...No ice sheets ...Big ice sheets.

Are we actually concerned about the Planet,  or about our own mortality.

I doubt that the Planet is going anywhere anytime soon...Whereas mortality is a human consideration.

The Planet is just a sphere of coelesced debris that orbits a star...Whereas humans are a part of a  thin surface layer of organic structures.

It is more likely that the latter would be destroyed before the former...Though unless there was a super-catastrophic event it is unlikely that all organic structures would be destroyed.

Which isn't to say for certain that a super-duper-catastrophic event couldn't destroy the whole kit and caboodle.

Meandering but a reasonable assessment, I would suggest.

Whereas it is unlikely that humans will destroy the Planet...It would perhaps have been better to suggest that humans might render the Planet uninhabitable.

Though an uninhabitable Planet  would ultimately "destroy" organic life anyway.
