Many scientists think Earth has a maximum carrying capacity of 9 billion to 10 billion people
In 1950 the population of the World was 2.5 billion. It is presently 8 billion.
In 2050 it will be 10 billion.

there's always insect farms, and farming the oceans with plants and animals. i think food wise, we have a lot more room to grow. i think the real question is everything else... obviously everyone can't live like a typical american, but there's a lot more to life than just food, and even if we assume shelter can be taken care of, there's everything else about life that someone should have the dignity of acquiring. so basically, we have a lot more room for humans to live in squalor but not dignified.

Global warming will kill all of that.

it's worth noting that a lot of scientist think the earth's population will level off at 10 billion people. basically, developed countries tend to level off,and the world as a whole will probably level off too. so if the max is ten bil, then maybe it will be the magic number. i do think though that it comes down to food okay but decent living maybe not.

how r u so sure? that's a far out claim and it doesn't strike me as a true probability. i think we can adapt to climate change.

The Earth doesnt support people. Rather, people steal from Earth.

The correct question would be:

"How many people can steal from Earth at the same time?"

There is nothing that a bunch of nuclear bombs can't solve. 😆

Global warming will kill all of that.
Yep, it will fry those insects to a crisp. They're well known for being totally intolerant of hot and humid conditions. Same with plants.

A good virus would be more efficient and less damaging to the environment in the short term.

Asteroid good too.

Super Volcano also good.

Though I will stick with an effective virus.

Apparently moss will inherit the Earth.

Nice statement.

Though I would suggest  that we are also an Earth resource.

And I would further suggest that we do not steal, but temporarily repurpose.

Temporarily, but indefinitely temporarily in a universal sense.

Though one might also argue that the human manipulation of Earths resources has a greater universal purpose and is therefore necessary.

Much more if you dig the core through. I have copies of sci-fi talking about this.

I don't know, Zed. Humans always find the way to defend themselves against viruses, like COVID for example. There should be a devastating virus to work out.

Many scientists think Earth has a maximum carrying capacity of 9 billion to 10 billion people
In 1758 Thomas Malthus told us we were screwed inf we keep it up.

In 1950 the population of the World was 2.5 billion. It is presently 8 billion.
In 1950 scientists didn't think the Earth could sustain 8 billion, scientific innovation keeps moving it out but at some point, we're going to max out.

In 2050 it will be 10 billion.

Sorry Pumpkin, maybe this will make it interesting for you, only 1.2 Billion are Caucasian, if there were no people of color, there would be no population problem.

There....happy now?

I believe the fertility rate is also decreasing a lot so we'll approach that limit much slower.

Who needs people if we have Artificial General Intelligence { AGI }?

Who needs AGI, if we have humans?

More humans can survive on finite set of resources, tho, the more there are means the lower the standard of living, if all is considered in equanimity.
