  • Critics agree that the quality of late-night shows in the U.S. has been decreasing steadily.
  • This is a little surprising, considering that the format has thrived ever since it was introduced during the "golden age" of television in the previous century.
  • However, many late-night shows have dug their own grave through their obsession with former president Donald Trump.

This article seems to suggest TDS isn't nearly as profitable in an age of economic uncertainty and a Democrat President.
“When comics abandon humor and go with anger instead, they become just another ‘outrage’ host,” Danna Young, a communications professor at University of Delaware’s Center for Political Communication, told CNBC.

What do you guys think?

This probably didn’t help:

Nor did this:

Notice that NBC has since pulled the clip. Hmmm… wonder why? Nothing to see here, folks!

So interchangeable, the Jews and white people....

But who cares when clapping gives you that big dopamine rush!

This clip fortunately is still up and not taken down as, I suppose, a few people see nothing wrong with it.
This is so embarrassing...it should never be forgotten. This video is the epitome of state and corporate power working together, i.e. fascism.

Oh, don’t tell a neo-Nazi that! They seem to think that Jews are the architects behind white abolition. There’s no end to the madness…

Oh, no… Colbert, known for being brilliant at satire, is now… unironically self-satirizing?

Late night comedy satarizes what people are dealing with in their daily lives. Politics used to be an afterthought for most people. Enter the 24 hour news cycle, social media, and a president who built his entire political career off of whatever will sell... The turn late night comedy has taken is not surprising in the least.

Focusing so heavily on Donald Trump is not good overall for the industry - alienating half of your viewers is obviously not a good business model. But when politics has become so outsized in the daily lives of all of us, that doesn't leave a whole lot of space for  everything else. To talk about politics is to alienate viewers, to not talk about politics is to ignore the elephant in the room, and in Trump it's a particularly big one. Not a whole lot of good options here.

And no, it's not TDS to laugh at a man so objectively buffoonish. Trump is comedy gold to anyone who doesn't go to bed at night draped in a Trump flag.

Remember that one of Trump's professors at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and Finance purportedly said that he was “the dumbest goddamn student I ever had.”

Yeah, it's fun for the 1st 2000 jokes, but every joke has expiration dates, and seems to elicit more anger than joy over time. You can only jump that shark so many times...and with the writer's strike, corpo-comedy is long gone now.

And angry people during a recession means real bad news for the ruling establishment. Sure there are a dwindling number of TDS cultists that will laugh at every re-run and binge watch it for months, but it's still dwindling.

I think it’s a good thing you don’t read corporate media, lol

“Big Think is a multimedia web portal founded in 2007 by Victoria Brown and Peter Hopkins.[1][2] The website is currently sponsored by the Charles Koch Foundation, presenting interviews and round table discussions with experts from a wide range of fields. Victoria Brown is the acting CEO and Peter Hopkins is the acting president of the company”

"This story is appropriately sourced to credible outlets. In fact, all stories are credibly sourced and science-based. Editorially, there is minimal bias, as evidenced by these mixed articles related to Donald Trump."

These media sources have a slight to moderate liberal bias.  They often publish factual information that utilizes loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by appeals to emotion or stereotypes) to favor liberal causes.  These sources are generally trustworthy for information but may require further investigation for context. See all Left-Center sources.

These media sources are moderately to strongly biased toward liberal causes through story selection and/or political affiliation.  They may utilize strong loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using appeal to emotion or stereotypes), publish misleading reports, and omit information reporting that may damage liberal causes. Some sources in this category may be untrustworthy. See all Left Bias sources.

Failed Fact Checks
Overall, we rate MSNBC Left Biased based on story selection that consistently favors the establishment left. We also rate them Mixed for factual reporting due to news hosts and the website producing 3 pants on fire claims. (5/13/2016) Updated (M. Huitsing 04/16/2023)

I see, so if corporate media is “appropriately sourced” then it’s credible in spite of being funded by the Koch Foundation. You think the Washington Post and NY Times are corporate media that is not credible or science based, but Big Think is. What a genius you are.

Which media sources are biased toward Libertarian causes? None? Is that because Libertarians are insignificant, feckless and clueless?

There is a reason libertarianism never worked anywhere. No one wants a politician who gives them nothing and helps the rich.

Does that upset you, the White population declining?

Notice how many of the white people on this site don’t have children? Why do you think that is?

Is it because they are too weird to find a mate?
Is it because they are too useless to earn enough to support a family?
Is it because they are too immature to be a parent?

These are questions that should be considered when fretting over the decline of white people in America.

During Trump's first three years in office, the number of Americans without health insurance increased by 4.6 million (16%)[7][8] while his tax cuts were projected to worsen income inequality.[9]
Trump took office at the height of the longest economic expansion in American history.[10] The 128-month (10.7-year) economic expansion that began in June 2009 abruptly ended at a peak in February 2020, with the U.S. entering a recession due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[11] The U.S. unemployment rate, which had hit a 50-year low (3.5%) in February 2020, hit a 90-year high (14.7%) just two months later, matching Great Depression levels. In response, Trump signed the $2 trillion Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES) on March 27, 2020 which helped maintain family incomes and savings during the crisis, but contributed to a $3.1 trillion budget deficit (14.9% GDP) for fiscal year 2020, the largest since 1945 relative to the size of the economy.[12][13] Trump left office with 3 million fewer jobs in the U.S. than when he took office, making Trump the only modern U.S. president to leave office with a smaller workforce.[10] Throughout his presidency, Trump mischaracterized the economy as the best in American history.[14]
Despite saying during the 2016 campaign he would eliminate the national debt in eight years,[15] Trump as president approved large increases in government spending, as well as the 2017 tax cut. As a result, the federal budget deficit increased by almost 50%, to nearly $1 trillion in 2019.[16] Under Trump, the U.S. national debt increased by 39%, reaching $27.75 trillion by the end of his term; the U.S. debt-to-GDP ratio also hit a post-World War II high.[17

There are whites who believe they are a supreme race, but that is just racism.

In reality, the whites who believe in white supremacy, are losers. They have low education, low income and are incompetent with women.

Well if whites are not supreme, then they should be a protected class under the current oppression paradigm.
