(You sure you want a heal spell w/lay on hands? Btw, what two proficiencies did you pick? Like I pointed out before, at least one being in intimidation would be boss AF and complement the proficiencies of persuasion and deception I already have 👌. Another person with medicine would be dope too tbh. Or if you went insight, that would mean I could go with a proficiency in something else. Athletics seems a good choice too fmpov, cause having high str + that proficiency would damn near guarantee any checks regarding Athletics 💯)

As Snerp pats down the corpses (ew) they suddenly lunge up and grab a hold of him!

I wriggle out of the corpses clutches and somersault backwards away from the bed(dodge). Scrambling (move) behind Grahf and Eikka for extra protection as they charge the corpses, I use the opportunity to identify them(identify enemies).

I walk over to the lockbox and check it for traps. After that I check the corpses for any possessions(such as a key) they might have on them. As well as checking the bed/mattress.
In checking I notice the corpses are similar to the mother and father of rose and thorn, and take a closer examination to attempt to determine that conclusively.

(Wow, proficiencies have changed. So basically, the +4 is +2 from skill, +2 from stat? So rather than +4 w/say stealth and sleight-of-hand, I'm at a +3? I suppose I should have realized it couldn't be the case. Even by the old method it was half of a players level rounded down. Can't help it, I always try to eke out extra advantages 😂😂).

(if I'm not mistaken jack-of-all-trades(1/2 bonus to non-proficiencies[+2]) + my DEX bonus(+2) gives me a +4 on stealth and sleight-of-hand regardless. So even despite not having the proficiency technically, I'm rolling as if I do. So I can get away with not doubling proficiencies for DEX skills, or charisma for that matter. But a +8 [+10 w/+2 chr modifier?] persuasion is gonna be a hella good bonus that makes it highly unlikely persuasion fails. Throw in +8 to perception, and that should make for a decent rogue hybrid. 👌💯.
@Merlin- as you pointed out, you have the knowledge tree, so you can toss a spell or two here and there to stuff like detect magic, identify, etc?
Just gonna say, this party fmpov got a lil more cohesive and made it alot more conclusive the choices Merlin and I should be making. This party set-up should do pretty well in and out of combat fmpov. It seems a little more complementary to one another then before imho.)

(@Earth- if you went intimidation for one of your proficiencies, you tha real MVP cause that's the charisma proficiency I'm missing. A team of a smooth talking gnome(persuasion and deception) and a big ol beefcake of a dragonborn(intimidation) would be an OP pair for social interactions 👌👌)

I stealthily dissapear into the shadows as I head toward the unexplored west room to the north of the [mimic] room, checking for traps as I go.
(Seriously, we need level 3 so i can have stealth and perception proficiencies to back this up. Gonna keep saying it till it happens. (Good news is, w/pally+cleric I can forego learning healing spells cause pally has lay on hands, and cleric has numerous heals. 👌. So expect my spells to be taken up with stuff like faerie fire, invisibility, and the like.)

(either way, this is doable. We can get away with me being a poor man's wizard/rogue.
@Earth- I hope you went str>con>chr>dex for stat priorities? Ur mainly melee focused now as you will have limited spells, and chr is ur spellcasting modifier. Dragonborn being a good choice cause it gives +2 str and +1 chr.
@Merlin- you are gonna be our perception guy for now, cause you will prob have the highest wisdom. However at Level 3 I can pick perception, insight, stealth, and double proficiency in two skills. So I can double proficiency in perception and persuasion. But we absolutely need someone skilled in perception, and absolutely need a rogue or a wizard, or a hybrid of the two. That hybrid is me I suppose as my class is kinda meant to do that 👌.
@Earth- being we're facing undead often it seems, have you considered instead of oath of ancients, going the oath that affords abilities geared against the undead? Like Oath of Devotion?
@everyone- do ur classes afford the ability to pick additional skill proficiencies at a specific level, or is that just me? Cause we're gonna need to make tactcal choices in future proficiencies to shore up weak areas. With Earth going Paladin, we are assumedly severely lacking in the Wisdom proficiencies department 😐)

(so basically, yes, but it's less strict than previous? I'm asking cause it would suck for him to lose his regular pally abilities seeing as it seems we're facing alot of undead 😂. What if say someone else in the party did something against his oath? Would it still penalize him if he does nothing in response? Like for example, swindling/intimidating a lowly merchant to get a better price. I know previously, even if the pally didn't do it, but was around or found out about it, they would get penalized and need to repent unless they did something about it 😐).

I pictured that going way different in my head at the time
(effing paladins, well at least it doesn't seem like Earths all too into the RP aspect of this, so at least we don't have to worry about him being the typical self rightcheous sycophant pally's usually are played as. Grand Juries already been convened on the FISA warrants regarding Carter Page. McCabe, Strzok, Comey, etc. all have targets on their backs from the clearly politically motivated abuses of the FISA process.
Like Trump said in a recent rally in Montana, "let's see if they keep getting away with it 😏" cause the walls are closing in on the people involved, and they're closing in quick. Once Sessions is removed after the mid terms, you can expect the DoJ to start moving full speed ahead on this process 😏.

So if there was widespread corruption within the Obama Administration, we simply would not know. We have info on the former but not the latter, so to claim that one had a problem with systemic corruption whereas the other did not cannot rightfully be concluded
-Using the IRS to target conservative advocacy groups? You do remember the scores of conservative PAC's that had their assets frozen and weren't able to use any of them leading up to the 2012 election due to being audited, right?
-Lying by omission to a FISA court and using a sham dossier bought and paid for by the Clinton campaign. Money that was shuffled through a law firm to hide its origins? In part produced by a foreign agent who had already been ejected from being an asset to law enforcement?
-Never holding a FISA hearing on the Carter Page Warrants
-Comey getting busted with purposely leaking information to the press, along now with Strzok messages that denote a "media leak strategy"
-Clearing a person before even truly investigating, and brushing the e-mails found on Anthony Wierners laptop under the rug, and as has come out, not even reviewing them fully, or even a significant portion.(a couple thousand out of tens of thousands). Later on finding out of course his, "we have there beautiful programs that can remove duplicates. They do, he never used it tho, he barely reviewed them whatsoever.
There is paying hush money to keep an extramarital affair quiet(something that has never actually reached a conviction. The closest case was Edwards when he got busted cheating on his wife who was suffering from cancer. The trial was a hung jury and the case was drppped. Which, the defense he used was that it was a personal expense, not campaign finance, cause well, hiding extramarital affairs is what quite alot of cheaters do, and NDA's and hush money paid, completely legal actions to be taken.
But digressing, there is a sham campaign finance violation in which no case with similar circumstances has ever lead to a conviction, and rarely leads to prosecution or charges, then there's all the aforementioned. Basically, I challenge you and anyone else to keep confidential documents in private servers in your house, and not be sitting in prison for a loooong time. There are already plenty of individuals who are for far less. And you wonder why people say the system is rigged?
The corruption is right in front of you, you just gotta take off the blinders, cause guarantee if any of this happened under a conservative admin, you would be screaming corruption till you lost your voice.

I escape from the shadows grasp when it is struck by the hammer, dropping my bow as I fall to the ground. Still on the ground, I look over at Eikka
The bless scroll, it will help us hit these shadows!
I struggle to my feet and pull out my lute. Unable to manage much more then a basic scale(channel cast) I limp to the middle point of the fight, and begin muttering the incantations to a spell. The pace of my playing quickens steadily, speeding to a crescendo before stopping suddenly. The incantations finish, and I pluck one solitary string, unleashing a thunderous boom upon the room. (Cast Thunder Wave).

(use the silver shortsword. I was so focused on other stuff being magical that never even thought of the sword potentially being magical(such as having the undead slayer enchantment or otherwise. But silver swords are usually a +1 regardless.)

(if these guys are standard shadows they do 2d6+2 damage on hits and sap 1d4 strength... and yes, they are resistant to physical damage(but not immune...e) jesus they could one shot Earth, Merlin, and I if they are standard shadows with some good rolls 😐😐. Good news is they are vulnerable to radiant tho lol.
This is pending the actual check, but Merlin and I will have to have use our heals it looks like.)
