China still has confucsism,taoism,etc-these are good traditions and semi religious based that are still based in China, so yes it is thriving based on that
America used to thrive on its traditions

@crossed
they chose to have less children because more children survive and get educated for skilled work
in Bangladesh in 1960-women had an average of 7 children-2 died before age 5 and only 1 or 2 got educated for skilled work, improving health and education leads to a decrease in fertility,this is a scientific observation found everywhere
the human population will level out, which is a good thing mostly
i wouldnt call this "depopulating"
whats not good is promoting a rejection of family(this is seen in the west) which i doubt these developing societies are doing. They are increasing health and education so more children survive and get educated, there isnt a need for more kids

@secularmerlin
well i must say that is all what religion does, provide hypotheitcal situations, did you see zedvictor quote

@secularmerlin
prosperity is helped by religion, what about the long boom?

@Intelligence_06
China stuck to their traditions, not necessarily religion

@secularmerlin
every society thrives with religion

@secularmerlin
no so what if it is hypotheitcal
Created:

@secularmerlin
religion is neccessary

@Intelligence_06
yes being for legalized abortion means you are pro choice
Created:

@secularmerlin
through religion
Created:
-->
@Intelligence_06
no it is not pro life, not aborting and then supprting legalized abortion is pro choice

@Intelligence_06
again,we have a right to self-govern.This means that the people have a right to vote and pass laws on abortion
forcing people is the whole idea.ITS A LAW
Created:
"Yeah, I feel it is a right to women. Like women should be able to choose if they abort the baby or not. Others could easily abort. Me? I won't. My baby means a lot to me and I will probably not abort her, but I respect those who really want an abortion and I believe they have the chance to do it, as well as not do it, just like me right now."
That is a pro-choice position

@secularmerlin
well it certainly helps

@Intelligence_06
i think you have to understand that your position is inherently pro-choice. many pro choicers prefer if the baby lives but say that its the womens decision at the end, there is no way you can claim you are for that and be pro life at the same time

no being against abortion does not mean you are a bigot

@secularmerlin
so what if it is hypothetical, that is pretty much a lot of religious debate

a sense of community and purpose

@Intelligence_06
this country(USA) was founded on self-government-the ability for people to vote and outlaw things that are detrimental to society in their opinions after debate. I dont think that is forcing opinions on people

@Intelligence_06
I agree with that preposition, life matters meaning abortion ought to be illegal
Created:
-->
@Intelligence_06
no it doesnt apply any of that
Created:
-->
@Intelligence_06
no, pro life is anti-abortion, your choice in the 1st post is pro choice
Created:
-->
@Intelligence_06
no God doesnt do that to good people but it is MORE PREFERABLE to believe in him than not

@secularmerlin
this is false, god does these things for GOOD PURPASES, that is what is morally good

@Intelligence_06
If Pascal's wager is a sound theory then God is a total jerk. No matter how much good I do to humanity, as long I trust myself to do everything, I go to hell.
not neccessarily true,you would have more benefits believing in God

@Intelligence_06
allowing abortion is pro choice even if you want the baby to live
Created:

@secularmerlin
but according to logic, he has to be good
Created:

@secularmerlin
do you understand what I am trying to say, everything God does is in search of GOOD reasons like any "immoral" person
Created:
Posted in:

@secularmerlin
ill try to explain this the best i can
If God is the standard of what is morally perfect than his actions have to be morally perfect and when he floods the earth, it is for a good reason-cleanse the earth of sin and restart.

@secularmerlin
but again, can he?he does those things for good reasons like anybody does
Created:
Posted in:

@secularmerlin
ill direct your attention to the evil god challenge which started this type of debating of god being good or "evil"
Created:
Posted in:

@secularmerlin
god can not be evil by its nature of being morally perfect
