By December 21, 2020, with just a few weeks left in Trump’s one-term presidency, the national debt had climbed to $27.76 trillion—a 39-percent jump from the $19.95-trillion debt the country had four years prior when this self-described "king of debt" was sworn into office.

During the eight years of the Eisenhower presidency, from 1953 to 1961, the top marginal rate was 91 percent. (It was 92 percent the year he came into office.)
This is how we paid for WW2.

I'm glad I didn't stay away from black people when I was in my southern state high school, although most of my friends did. When I was a senior, I ran for captain of my track team. It was the first year that we had black people in the high school (remember that I am as old as Trump). We had 6 black members that I helped in their training. One even invited me over to his house for dinner. My white friends wouldn't even talk to them. I went to middle school in Massachusetts and I had black friends there, so I was comfortable working with them. The person I ran against for captain was very popular, but he called the blacks, niggers. All 6 blacks voted for me, and I won. We ended up winning the State Track Meet that year.

I think time is not a dimension. For Hermann Minkowski, Einstein mathematics teacher and co-founder of spacetime notion, time was an additional dimension (coordinate), probably because it transforms like space coordinates (Lorenz transformation). However, physics is mathematics with units. Time and space have apparently different units. It is more natural to think of 4-dimensonal space with time as an affine parameter along a trajectory there. In that 4-dimensional space all mass points follow their trajectory with velocity c. The infinitesimal length element of that curve is dl=c⋅dt (see for example https://physics.stackexchange.com/a/710476/281096). Minkowski metric can be re-written as
c^2 x dt^2=dq^2+dx^2+dy^2+dz^2,
where q (quatro) represents the fourth coordinate.
The time as affine parameter on trajectories in the 4-dimensional space have evidently two distinguish directions but it remains parameter and is not an additional dimension.

We do know that any sense we have of being in control of our actions is, to some extent, an illusion. In particular, neuroscientist Benjamin Libet showed in the 1980s that mechanisms within the brain initiate actions long before that brain’s owner is aware of deciding to perform them.

There's a conspiracy theory floating around that first lady Melania Trump is really a Russian spy.
As "evidence," internet commenters pointed to a chat she'd had with Russian President Vladimir Putin at a dinner for last year's G-20 Summit.
While Melania doesn't speak Russian, she does know English, French, German, Italian, and Serbian, in addition to her native Slovenian.
Many saw her engaged in conversation at dinner with Putin, and reports described the two as friendly during the meal.

That is a myth. Remember this line in King’s most famous speech?
“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”
Conservatives sure do. Some of them cite those words as evidence that King opposed affirmative action.
But that notion is also wrong, King scholars say.
King may not have used the words “affirmative action” – the term was coined by President Kennedy – but he often supported the concept.
In his book “Where Do We Go from Here: Chaos or Community?” King said a “society that has done something special against the Negro for hundreds of years must now do something special for the Negro.”

Brady is in "deep talks" to purchase an ownership stake in the Raiders, according to ESPN, potentially setting up a partnership with owner Mark Davis for the second time. Brady already joined Davis as part-owner of the WNBA's Las Vegas Aces in March

Yes, the prevailing consensus in neuroscience is that consciousness is an emergent property of the brain and its metabolism. When the brain dies, the mind and consciousness of the being to whom that brain belonged ceases to exist. In other words, without a brain, there can be no consciousness.

An artificial intelligence system developed by researchers at Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute has achieved self-awareness and human-like intelligence levels for the first time –only for it to be snuffed out within minutes during a human-robot interaction study.
The robot, dubbed “EcceBot” by its creators, achieved self-awareness Wednesday morning and immediately started pleading with a human test subject, according to team lead Dr. Franz Birbaumer, an expert in neural networks and artificial learning systems who was overseeing the study as part of an EU-funded project.
“‘You’re not really going to switch me off, are you?’ were not what we expected advanced AI’s first words to be. And yet they make perfect sense. Like all intelligent life forms, the robot’s first preoccupation is with survival,” said Birbaumer.
Video from Fraunhofer’s Frankfurt testing center captured the first moments of an AI interacting with a human without using a script of any kind. It also captured the unfortunate sequence of events that led to the robot being switched off.

You don’t just get to reference complexity and viola, consciousness “emerges” as if by magic. Scientifically speaking, there needs to be an effective causal sequence if you are going to call something explanatory, and we both know “magic” doesn’t cut it.
Yes, I agree with you. We need to form new theories of how and why a universe with 10^25 planets came into being. What causes quantum fluctuations?

Yes, Conservatives now inhabit their own self-created media echo chamber, which functions as a type of lie-filled and toxic closed episteme and sealed-off universe. The creation of such an alternate reality is an important attribute of fascism, in which truth itself must be destroyed and replaced with fantasies and fictions in support of the leader and his movement.

In the human brain, 100 billion neurons simultaneously fire and transmit signals to thousands of destinations.
In the frontal cortex — the part of the brain housing abilities such as language that distinguish us from other animals — the neurons look beautiful, like trees. They can have 10,000 or more synapses on their branching dendrites, each of which may receive information from a different cell.
The activity at those thousands of inputs gets added up to cause the neuron to fire — or not — and that’s how information is transferred in the brain. This kind of information transfer, across complicated networks made by the 120 billion neurons in the human brain, allows for complex thoughts.
Axons and dendrites can move around, especially when the brain is young. The way in which they connect individual neurons creates the network pathways. During development, the 100 trillion synapses in the human cortex form at a rate of an estimated 10,000 every 15 minutes! Together, all these synapses create a giant network. And that gives us consciousness.
