The Trinity says: the Father is God, the Son is God, the Spirit is God; and the Father is not the Son, the Son is not the Spirit, etc.; and there is only one God. But if “is God” means is identical to the one God, then Father = God and Son = God implies Father = Son (by transitivity), which contradicts “Father is not Son.” If “is God” doesn’t mean identity, then the claims become unclear (what exactly does “is” mean?), so the doctrine fails to state a coherent set of propositions.
