Do you know any portfolio adviser that would recommend a 100% investment in T-bills? Good lord.

Like it was soooo hard to find....
And the giant pension and investment fund run by the government of Norway earned 10.9%.
The returns earned by Social Security is the scandal that keeps on taking. The previous year, the Norwegian pension fund gained 20%, the balanced index fund 22%, and the S&P 500 31%.
Your and my Social Security dollars? Just 2.2%.
No, I’m not kidding. So far in 2021 the fund’s returns have been less than the rate of inflation.
Actually, over the past 10 years the returns of the Norwegian fund have outpaced those of our Social Security dollars by more than 400%. That balanced fund has beaten Social Security by nearly 600%.
And President Roosevelt wanted to use Social Security’s funds to help pay for government deficits.

Well genius, you get way more from Social Security and Medicare than you pay in to those programs.
Hell, Social security has not even kept up with inflation in the last decade, meaning you are losing your wealth.
What a royal scam perpetuated on the financially ignorant.

C: Hello Mr Paliov um a number of your own comments and actions have been um
characterized as dog whistling by the far right...
P: By who?
C: by a number of...
P: By Who?
C: but I think it's been characterized by that way but are you trying to show it...
P: By who? Sorry I just need to clarify by who??
C: By a number of different experts and a number of...
P: Who are the experts?
C: okay, well it's been established that this is this is a concern are you trying to court the far right vote all right...
P: Sorry who are these experts?
You say that there are "experts" who are saying this... who are they???
C: My question is are you trying to court...
P: Sorry I am sorry, but your question seems to be based on a false premise.
You can't even tell me who these experts are. It sounds like it's just a CBC smear job. Thank you.
C: But what about the question about whether....
P: The answer is that I have a common sense agenda to ax the carbon tax, bring home powerful paychecks, clear the way to build affordable homes, to put those people in housing that they they can afford. That is a common sense mainstream Canadian agenda. And I know that Justin Trudeau's supporters are so desperate to distract from that because his political career is falling apart, so we're seeing an attempt here to distract and protect Justin Trudeau from his extremely unpopular carbon taxes and other failing policies, but we won't let him or him or others distract from that reality, so thank you.

What do you do with a low intellect moron than just makes things up to get his way? If those type of people are not eliminated the USA will be destroyed.
So eliminate 70 million voters. Where have I heard that solution presented before?

In a fascist or totalitarian state, the government gets to decide what's legitimate criticism of the government and what's legitimate criticism of how the government works. Period. That's what's happening here.

@cristo71
Denzel's point was that we as the public, expect the media to be true, but instead, corporate media strives to be first (corporate profits)
So what are we expected to do? Not watch corporate media and be uninformed, or watch it and be misinformed?
I think Denzel also missed the very real government influence on corporate media as government gets to pull the regulatory strings that create the media kabuki dance.
So it's more than an issue of being first. It's also an issue of compliance. Nowhere is this more evident than the current unanimous declaration of acts of questioning the government to be criminal and seditions acts.

*SMH* I was actually hoping that this would at least be one area of common ground because this one is just patently false:
That take would be analogous to police beating rioters with their shields as the rioters threw themselves at the police...

“News” (yes, even outlets other than Fox News et al!) is able to construct a narrative, form a perspective, via factual information, selection of detail, story selection, and such while officially operating within the confines of factual news reporting. Opinion shows and articles certainly play into the overall dynamic, but news reporting is certainly capable of contributing toward a certain preconceived bias.
Well said. But you left out the part about squelching the truth to power.
If you did a google search for the left wing corporate media outlets and "laptop," you will get very limited results.

Which is why spamming the forum with corporate media opinions just makes everyone dumber.

One reason why oppression cultists might find that statement so sacrilegious is that it promotes the idea that people can overcome oppression. If the dogma states that the color of your skin defines your class of oppression and not individual success, this statement can never be allowed to be accepted. Marxism has no purpose in a society where oppression can be overcome.

When I’m the one willing to explain and defend my position and you are the one offering nothing more than negative personal assessments before walking away from the conversation, that says a lot about which one of us is really just outright denying and dismissing the viewpoint of others.
It really does when one performs pretzel logic to defend the bad behavior of corporate media.

Why should Trump be above the law?
He is getting re-elected because the law is being used as a political weapon. Protecting the government at the expense of the people isn't what a lot of Americans signed up for. Government should serve at the pleasure of the people in a functioning democracy, not the other way around.
And before you say that State law has supreme authority over Trump, even the DA of Georgia is not above the law, and is subject to the full weight and authority of the SCOTUS; especially where acts of free speech are blatantly being subverted. The SCOTUS has thousands of case precedents where they definitively ruled that State DAs violated the Constitution, and therefore violated the law. So Trump has every right to ask the question, "why should the DA of Georgia be above the law?"

What's funny is that historically, the Mafia, for whom the RICO laws were created, usually kept their promises when extorting protection money from local capitalists. Today's government feels no need to honor any agreement while doing the same. There's no check whatsoever on that level of corruption; and it's not a problem that can ever be fixed at the ballot box at this point.

Every tyrannical regime needs to make an example to keep people from getting the wrong idea. For Hitler, it was the night of long knives. For Stalin, the great purges. For Mao, the "Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution," For South Africa apartheid, the imprisonment of Mandela.
These are the ways in which oppressive regimes historically sought to maintain power through fear, violence, and the suppression of dissenting voices. These tactics aimed to discourage opposition and maintain control by making examples of those who dared to challenge the established order.
For the Biden administration, the imprisonment of Trump.
