@cristo71
Perhaps they wish for no federal subsidies in most cases?

Bingo. In fact, nearly every small government conservative would be far more upset about approving the action than denying the action.
Like I said before, less money = smaller government.

And his P2 assumes SGC's want a president who has no power to enforce the mandate of the people for any reason (since no rational reason was given as you also said before, and therefore should be left for the courts to decide on the reasons)

That presumption is outrageously false. A SGC would therefore never choose to vote for a president to enforce his will to....say... shrink the government? <shockfaced>

Otherwise said SGC is a "hypocrite?"

I've not seen Democrats so upset about this since Lincoln!

As well as appeasement encouraging aggression by other countries.

Peace through strength.

When Europe decides it wants to have peace, they will get a strong military.

Bodily Autonomy is not a good argument for abortion for most people
-->
@Best.Korea
But the real point I was making is that NO SOCIAL CONTRACT could ever be created under the framework of unlimited bodily autonomy, and therefore, no right to anything could ever be guaranteed, including the right to kill your own fetus.

Instead of the government being an obligated partner under the social contract, it becomes the supreme authority with no obligations. No rights could exist.

@WyIted
I had a wild idea I pitched to AI. Use successful states to reform failing states by having the successful states claim stewardship for 10 years to reform them. AI seems to think it would have a much better chance at working than the reconstruction period during 1865-1877. Although very racist cities like Chicago might cause problems with resistance to change.

States can do a much better job than DC can regarding healthcare. Masshealth outperforms Medicaid in  just about every area from efficient distribution to rendering quality services.

Like I said, every state could send ZERO dollars to DC, and the states would be just fine for a very long time.

Should undocumented immigrants get rights?
-->
@Vader
There is a huge cultural difference between Asia and Europe, and America would be a completely different place today if all those immigrants in the 1900's mostly came from outside of Europe. Yes Asians are "hard workers," but culturally, they also tend toward authoritarian centralized governments and care little for individual liberty. South Americans inherit the caste systems of Spain enforced with strictly defined hierarchies.

Asian culture, emphasizes social harmony, deep respect for authority, and duty to the collective and those are values that run counter to the deeply individualistic, rights-based traditions of the West.

NY is one of the country's top donor states, and most of that comes from NYC

And how do you propose cleaning the subway system upon many other fixes the system desperately needs after wiping away the billions of dollars the MTA takes in every year in fares?

You answered your own question. Stop sending your money to USAID and other Democrat laundering schemes and start taking care of your own. Common sense says lower federal taxes leaves room for higher state taxes to pay for stuff you actually need, like a functioning subway.

It's not enough of a value to just have "hard workers" in the country for the good of the country.

If we imported 5 million Russians and just judged them on being "good workers", that wouldn't automatically make them a good addition or a good fit for American culture and the stability of America.

Importing 5 million of any divergent culture doesn't make them automatically a great fit, regardless of the hard work.

I remember watching a "man on the street" stream where a guy asked a bunch of random women what they thought their duty to society was. For those who even had an answer, most of them said something akin to jobs or taxes. Few of them said that growing a family was a duty.

@WyIted
A society that embraces bodily autonomy as an absolute right demands no civic duties, and therefore, citizenship is a meaningless term for that society.

In fact, no social contract could ever be drawn because no citizen would be required to bring anything to the table under this framework. This is similar to the idea of an absolute "right to privacy" as it would make it impossible for the state to verify that any civic duties were fulfilled under the social contract.

Also, migrants with their imported cultural values would destroy the whole "my body, my choice" movement that allows women to exempt themselves from the civic duty that maintains the continued existence of a civilized society. Until we can grow babies in pods, women need to do their civic duty, or go extinct.

Imagine how women would respond if  American men collectively said "my body my choice" when China invades and uses all the American women as slaves and toys for entertainment. Men exempting themselves from civic duty will have similar results in the destruction and extinction of society.

Many American men today are doing exactly that, refusing to ever marry and form nuclear families and enjoying a life free from civic responsibilities.

Black women? Nah, that's your base Buckwheat.

In the 2024 U.S. presidential election, exit polls indicate that approximately 90% of Black women voted for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.

According to the CDC, Black women have the highest abortion rate among racial groups. In 2020, Black women accounted for 39.2% of all reported abortions, despite making up about 13-14% of the female population in the U.S.

So that makes you both a racist and stupid.

The average American works more than peasants from the middle ages
-->
@FLRW
The idea that medieval peasants had an easy life with short working hours and long periods of rest is an absurd fantasy, yet one that continues to be repeated—often by those who ought to know better. This myth, like so many others, has been carelessly passed down through the public school system, which seems more interested in pushing simplistic narratives than fostering real historical understanding. The truth is that medieval peasants worked long, grueling hours throughout the year, and the idea that they somehow labored less than a modern American is laughable.

The Reality of Peasant Labor
It is commonly claimed that peasants worked only 120–150 days per year, as if they spent the rest of their time lounging in idyllic medieval fields. This gross misrepresentation ignores the realities of an agrarian economy. While planting and harvesting were certainly the busiest times, there was never truly an "off-season." Peasants had a never-ending list of physically exhausting tasks:
  • Maintaining Their Homes and Tools – Unlike today, where a broken tool can be replaced with a quick trip to the store, medieval peasants had to repair everything themselves. Houses, barns, fences, and wagons required constant upkeep.
  • Tending to Livestock – Animals needed daily care YEAR ROUND, from feeding and milking to cleaning stalls and shearing wool.
  • Fuel and Water Collection – Firewood had to be gathered and stored, and water often required long treks to wells or rivers.
  • Textile Work – Clothing did not come from a store; it was made by hand. Peasants spent hours spinning thread, weaving fabric, and sewing garments.
  • Mandatory Labor for the Lord – Many peasants owed unpaid labor to their lord in addition to their own farming. This could include repairing roads, helping with castle construction, or even serving in local militias.
The Myth of Short Workdays
Another fiction perpetuated by shallow historical teaching is the claim that medieval workers had short, relaxed workdays. In reality, work was dictated by necessity, not by a clock. Planting and harvest seasons required dawn-to-dusk labor, and even during slower months, daily chores were never-ending. Unlike modern workers, peasants could not "clock out" and leave their responsibilities behind.
Yes, there were religious feast days, but these were not vacations in the modern sense. Attendance at church was often mandatory, and many feast days involved additional work, such as preparing communal meals or participating in festivities that required labor. The idea that peasants spent these days in leisure is a distortion of history.

Why Does This Myth Persist?
One reason this nonsense continues to be taught is the public school system’s reliance on oversimplification and cherry picking select accounts to fit a political narrative. Instead of presenting history with nuance, schools feed students cartoonish images of the past—peasants as lazy, medieval life as uniformly miserable, and modernity as an uninterrupted march of progress. This isn’t education; it’s propaganda. Students deserve to learn history as it was, not as an easy-to-digest fairy tale.

The Bottom Line
The medieval peasant was not some part-time laborer enjoying endless holidays. He worked tirelessly all year long to survive in a world where failure meant starvation. The fact that modern schools continue to spread the myth of the lazy peasant is an indictment of the way history is taught. Perhaps if educators put as much effort into accuracy as they do into revisionist storytelling, we wouldn’t have to keep correcting these absurd misconceptions.

Also which political party do you think makes this situation worse?
What, you mean the party that provides public education that doesn't teach what a peasant did in the middle ages?

Both parties support the idea of funding failing schools. Some more than others and louder about it.

US Votes To Not Condemn Russia’s War On Ukraine
-->
@cristo71

Right now, America is competing with the EU for the spoils of war. This war was never about "the poor people of Ukraine, we feel so so sorry for them"

It was always about bleeding Ukraine and breaking Ukraine apart so that it could be exploited by both sides. Trump recognizes the USA has way more to offer Ukraine in terms of security assurances that the EU can. EU banked on the USA supporting their exploitation of Ukraine, but they never thought for a second that America would just take their ball and go their own way in this game of exploitation. They thought NATO leverage against America would always be in favor of EU interests. This game has been completely changed, and there are now new rules. EU has not much at all to offer in terms of security, and that was their own fault by outsourcing their local security to Americans.

America will profit greatly from this peace, not the EU, despite all predictions from every EU pundit.

Russia doesn't want any more territory than the one it has held onto for the past 3 years. If they were going to take more land, they had 3 years to do it instead of bleeding Ukraine with constant artillery shellings. Some hardliners wanted more territory like Prigozhin, and they killed him for it.

This has always been about the spoils of war, and Europe is far more pissed it will not be at the spoils table than it is credibly worried about Putin. EU has made zero moves to ramp up their militaries, signalling there was never a need to do so.
