We Need To Get The Top Tax Rate Back To 94 Percent
-->
@FLRW
Let's start with confiscating all of Joe Biden's mansions and giving 94% of the $500,000 painting from his son back to the people.

Until then, nobody will pay their fair share.

'median rate per million that people die', so it was looking at how frequently people die regardless of how large the country is.

That's the point. Smaller countries will have fewer mass shootings over a 10 year period, so the median is always going to be zero due solely to the size of the tiny country.

there is zero reason to think USA would have yearly shootings if it was the size of Norway.

The data itself supports this interpretation, as the United States endured mass shooting events all seven years, but the other countries all experienced mass shootings during only one or two years. Thus, in a typical year, most countries experience zero mass shooting deaths, while the US experiences at least a few.
Nothing in the study suggests if the US was as small as Norway that it would still have mass shootings every year. It's a huge reach to say this without clear evidence.

The reporter even followed up the question with "you are?' As if she was doing a double take.

Clearly she could not believe the bullshit answer coming from President Biden to suggest a policy of an explicit military response to China, to which Biden responded with a nod.

This is NOT a nuanced statement that needs context. The simple answer of yes is more than enough to set back Chinese diplomacy way back. America does not need any more military enemies and certainly does not need to give China a concrete reason to militarize against the USA.

ignoramuses like yourself continue to get your news from sources whose entire business

I got my information from the only source that matters. Joe Biden himself.

The question was whether he would get involved militarily to defend Taiwan.

Biden's response to that question was Yes.

Unless you think the press conference was a fabrication, you are clearly gaslighting what was said at the press conference.

He was NOT asked: , 'would you uphold US policy?'.

You made that up. Lies, fabrication, and gaslighting.

The Taiwan Relations Act (TRA;  enacted April 10, 1979
Nowhere in that act states the US is obligated to defend Taiwan with military force. Warmongers like you should be sent to the front lines of every battle and war started by a Marxist president.

He was asked, unprovoked, 'would you uphold US policy?'. His answer was "yes". There's nothing controversial about that.
He wasn't asked that. You are gaslighting and lying for political power like all Marxist leftists.

He was asked if he would get involved militarily over Taiwan. This is why the left can never again be trusted.

Gaslighters like you are the reason why Civil war is looming.

The abundance of easily obtainable e‑mail exchanges with reporters from the Associated Press, Washington Post, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and other major outlets indicate that very close professional (and sometimes personal) relationships seem to exist between journalists and the CIA. Silverstein focused much of his attention on the behavior of Ken Dilanian, a national security reporter for the Los Angeles Times who later joined the Associated Press, and still later, NBC News. His relationship with the CIA certainly raised some troubling questions. Silverstein charged that numerous e‑mails “show that Dilanian enjoyed a closely collaborative relationship with the agency, explicitly promising positive news coverage and sometimes sending the press office entire story drafts for review prior to publication. In at least one instance, the CIA’s reaction appears to have led to significant changes in the story that was eventually published in the Times.” Clearing stories in advance and currying official cooperation and approval automatically compromises the integrity of the journalist’s handiwork.

One of the CIA’s long‐standing, favorite tactics is to generate favorable, including outright bogus, news stories in foreign media outlets, with the expectation that American outlets will eventually pick them up. There is no question that the U.S. government still recruits foreign journalists for propaganda missions in their home countries. For example, the United States and Britain have mounted an extensive joint propaganda effort regarding the Syrian civil war using an array of Middle Eastern reporters and columnists. Among other possible effects, one must ponder how many of those orchestrated “news” stories found their way back into American media, impacting the narrative and domestic debate about the Syrian civil war and what Washington’s stance should be toward that conflict. The potential “blowback” phenomenon is a worrisome example of how the intelligence agencies can manipulate the debate on a foreign policy issue in the United States.

It is unsettling how often most mainstream media outlets advance the agenda of the narrative put forth by the CIA and other portions of the national security state. Most of the press circulated the narrative that the CIA‐orchestrated coups in Iran and Guatemala in the 1950s were spontaneous democratic uprisings. More recently, the news media disseminated allegations that Saddam Hussein had a vast arsenal of weapons of mass destruction. Nearly all that information came from Iraqi exiles that the CIA supplied to “friendly” journalists, including New York Times reporter Judith Miller. Perhaps most striking, major media outlets, especially the Washington Post, the New York Times, CNN and MSNBC, have avidly joined the national security state’s campaign to demonize Russia. Those media heavyweights enthusiastically promoted the false narrative about collusion between Donald Trump’s campaign and the Russian government to influence the 2016 presidential election. Even worse, they parroted the CIA’s unsupported, far‐fetched allegation that Moscow had paid the Taliban bounties to kill American soldiers.

 as a not-for-profit news cooperative

Not-for-profit sounds like government supported. One hand washing the other as usual.

An especially dangerous threat to liberty occurs when members of the press collude with government agencies instead of monitoring and exposing the abuses of those agencies. Unfortunately, collusion is an all‐too‐common pattern in press coverage of the national security state’s activities. The American people then receive official propaganda disguised as honest reporting and analysis.

Nor should you. go look up how many inner city schools in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles were targeted for mass shootings.

@n8nrgim
having armed guards is a unique form of defense. that shouldn't count as to whether having concealed carry or lots of guns there makes a difference. to be clear, i'm on the fence about teachers having guns, cause i know guns introduce murder more than if the gun isn't there and mass shootings are rare, but i also know teachers are usually good character.

I am also on the fence about it since we have never tried universal carry in schools, but what we DO know is that in areas saturated with guns like inner cities, mass shootings are non-existent precisely because there are no gun-free schools there. If a school can't afford an armed guard to stop mass shootings, wouldn't concealed carry be an option on the table?

i do know, most schools are gun free zones,
But the ones in the very middle of high crime cities like Los Angeles, Chicago and New York which are not gun free zones (they have armed guards) seem to NEVER be targeted.

There is a common sense reason for that.

Those schools are absolutely saturated with guns with no incidents of mass shootings. Care to explain this?

do you honestly think criminals research whether their target area has concealed carry or not?
How else do you explain the 94% statistic? None of the inner schools in high crime areas saturated with illegal guns seem to be targeted for mass shootings. There is a common sense reason for that.

 how rare people have concealed carry and how rare mass shootings are, that a hero will be able to emerge than if concealed carry didn't exist?
It's not nearly as rare as you think if you don't get your science from the media.

I read your source. It says we never had universal concealed carry laws. That is common sense.

What is not common sense is the removal of the gun-free zones in a nation where almost all the mass shootings occur. 94% according to science.

We have never tried that before so we have no idea if it will work or not.

Are you willing to accept that the founding fathers may have been wrong?

@n8nrgim
it's consensus science that where there's more guns, or more people have them, that there's more murders than places that don't have guns
Wrong, most mass shootings take place where concealed carry is outlawed.

this is all common sense
So it's common sense to be wrong about the science of concealed carry policies? No wonder America has problems.

Outlawing guns while having no controls in place to stop guns from coming in is worthless.

How do you know this? We have never tried universally permitted conceal carry laws in the country yet. Maybe the NRA is wrong about universal concealed carry?

Can you accept the fact that the NRA could be wrong?

Do you understand the difference between a city and a country?
I do. Can you answer this question please?

So why create these dangerous gun free zones in a city?

Don't you think removing these dangerous gun-free zones would be a good idea until you can come up with a plan to ban all guns on the planet?

 I’m arguing that to put this forward as the solution is absurd.
Not nearly as absurd as the insistence that gun-free zones are not inherently dangerous.

Every developed country isn’t the United States. Their histories and culture are far different than that of the United States. You can deny it, but that’s the facts no matter what you think.
Most of those nations developed off the backs of American innovation that was only made possible with the policy of private property and private ownership of guns to prevent government seizure of private innovation.

That's the cold and dirty truth.

Even today, more people migrate out of European developed nations to live in America than the other way around.

Anyone that wants to emulate those countries are regressive thinkers.
