Also, Mike Rowe said he would be a terrible politician.

"Obviously, a lot of people are uncomfortable with the current options for president. So uncomfortable, that they’d nominate a guy who got marginally famous for crawling through sewers. I get it, and I’m flattered. But really, I’d be a TERRIBLE politician. Not because I don’t love our country – I do. But because I’m not interested in the welfare of groups, and right now, our country feels like a collection of groups. Specifically, groups defined by race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, and all sorts of other things beyond the individual’s ability to control. I have no interest in winning the approval of these groups, or in helping one group at the expense of another. I’m interested in helping individuals. Specifically, those individuals who impress me with a mix of work ethic, attitude, personal responsibility, and a willingness to learn a skill that’s in demand. That’s why I run a foundation that rewards individuals with those qualities. I know how to do that. I do not know how to return our country to the melting pot we’re supposed to be."

So much better to engage in a Jan 6th style insurrection,
America was founded on an insurrection.

to overthrow election results,
That's what election integrity does. Thousands of votes are discarded every election.

threaten congress and attack USA senators.
Senators are not Royal Clergy. Their job requires them to be attacked by their constituencies when they don't represent the people.

Next us conservatives need take action and ban the word ' gay ' from being used by anyone on school property.
Not anyone. Just teachers entrusted to shield 5 year olds from anal sex propaganda.

 Putin went after the ' gays ' Hitler went after the ' gays ' and conservatives been after the ' gays ' for many years now. I think were seeing a trend or pattern going on here.
That brush is as wide as the ocean.

 because Mexico wouldn't pose an existential threat.
It doesn't have to be "an existential threat" to warrant a military response. Just lowering the standard of living by half through dominating trade along the southern border would be enough to enrage Americans. Imagine gas at 20 dollars per gallon and food twice at where it is now, all because China controls Mexico.

Americans have gone to war for far less reasons.

Bottom line is that there is a very real price for America fucking about in Ukraine with both predictable and unintended consequences. All to make a dollar for American Oligarchs.

Let's put this in perspective. If China sent 5 billion dollars worth of arms to Mexico, should USA be worried?

What if China installs a Mexican president loyal to Beijing and fiercely anti-American? Does that pose a threat?

This is what America did to Ukraine.

Its about invading Crimea primarily, the other reason is having American weapons right on the border causes a serious problem for Russia.

None of this would have happened if the USA stopped trying to control the future of Ukraine with billions of dollars.

@Sum1hugme
How did the US cause Russia to invade Ukraine?
Most of the evidence is on Hunter Biden's laptop. USA heavily invested in the Ukrainian Oligarchs in an attempt to make Ukraine an American puppet state. That combined with a massive buildup of USA arms to the Ukraine putting culturally Russian Crimea at risk for a massive invasion.

They went over the line, and Putin was forced to act.

Isn't it interesting how white liberals treat the quality of being black as some kind of unique, race-based original sin that only the Democratic party can provide salvation for?  The messiah complex they all seem to have is really bizarre.  It's tempting to write that off as just performative, but I think it's more than that for them.
I'm always reminded of this video whenever I encounter this mindset.

Putin funds massive green energy support with propaganda.
-->
@Lemming

Unlike in Soviet times, the Kremlin no longer limits its
support to just one end of the ideological spectrum. In
addition to right-wing groups, it still maintains strong ties
with former and current communist parties--Ukraine's Ministry
of Justice in 2014 sought to ban the country's Communist Party,
which was believed to be acting on behalf of the Kremlin.\306\
Some European left and far-left parties have also adopted more
friendly views toward Russia, including Spain's Podemos party,
Greece's Syriza Party (which has led the government since
2015), Bulgaria's Socialist Party, and Moldova's Socialist
Party, with candidates from the latter two winning presidential
elections in November 2016.\307\ According to NATO officials,
Russian intelligence agencies also reportedly provide covert
support to European environmental groups to campaign against
fracking for natural gas, thereby keeping the EU more dependent
on Russian supplies.\309\ A study by the Wilfried Martens
Centre for European Studies reports that the Russian government
has invested $95 million in NGOs that seek to persuade EU
governments to end shale gas exploration.

Propaganda facilitated a dynamic shift in energy suppliers. Russia's
nuclear power capacity has increased by 33% since 2002, according
to the World Nuclear Association. Germany's nuclear capacity has
decreased by over 80% in that time period.

This just shows your snobbish Germanic-superiority and racism. The idea of "whiteness, democracy, and human rights" all stem from Enlightenment Germanic Protestant societies. Maybe some countries, including those under the umbrella of "white" such as Russia, don't believe those values are part of their culture.

This goes a long way to explain why the fraudsters on this site have never shown the Ethiopian flag in their profile pic, despite the 10's of thousands of civilians slaughtered and 512 surviving rape victims in Ethiopian hospitals brutally raped with metal objects to instill terror. All done in one year.

As for income inequality, let's remember that Putin started the year as the richest man in the world in spite of an official salary of $300,000 (worth about half that now)

That's peanuts. Biden's paintings sell for double that amount.

Why democracy and what is competent leadership
-->
@Benjamin
Yes it always baffled me how a two party system could be called democracy,
But in many states, it's a de-facto one party system, and with other states it's 2 party on paper only.

That leads to realities such as Cuomo becoming Governor of New York again because there are no alternatives.

would certainly prefer having an unpopular but competent city planner or president,
We had an unpopular competent planner in 2016 by every metric, Crime, security, financial stability, everything in your list. The problem is that there's too much corruption in DC for any one man to make a lasting difference since the government who now has the power to give you everything promptly took it all away in 2020.

@Benjamin
In America, we also delegate Democracy on a statewide level. Some Democratic parties have gained so much power in States like California and Colorado and New York that they are essentially a monopoly with no options for change. For 50 years, voters had no other options in those states other than to leave the State.

The end result is that those states are steadily becoming the most corrupt states in America and the most unresponsive to all those problems you listed. Namely poverty, a failing educational and healthcare system, rising national debt, police shootings and civilian shootings, crime rates, corporate tax loopholes, homelessness, crumbling infrastructure, climate change and frequent natural catastrophes.

Of course there are still mindless, irresponsible people in America that believe the leaders in those abusive States really do care about local issues, but reality says differently.

as a Christian who believes that everyone has a soul and moral agency it does genuinely disgust me, and makes it clear that no matter what they might say they don't hold blacks and whites to the same standards. Guilt for crimes white people commit not only transfer across generations but across families, whereas contemporary crime from a black person is excused

Are you referring the Smollett case?

Why democracy and what is competent leadership

@Benjamin
It's not that democracy itself tends to spiral into an incompetent government. The problems with democracies occur when the people elected gain so much power that they are able to destroy the mechanisms that hold them accountable. While founding fathers can write safeguards into the constitution to try to prevent this, it is no guarantee over time that the people will allow leaders to remove many of those safeguards, be it in the form of the patriot act which is used today to justify surveillance and detention without habeus corpus or destroying the process to hold the most powerful congresswoman in the world accountable for manipulating financial markets to funnel wealth from the poor to the rich.

A powerful Democracy is a corrupt Democracy, as absolute power corrupts absolutely. We all lived through the abuse of "emergency powers" during Covid, the abuse of the emergency powers during the Iraq war, and now we are set to endure yet another series abuses with America's involvement in Ukraine under the guise of "emergency."

And as we saw in Canada, if you protest against such abuses, emergency powers will be invoked to destroy you for attempting to hold the Democratically elected government accountable through peaceful protests. A government powerful enough to give you everything also has the same power to take it all away.

You know what reality is? Having your entire city/village blown to pieces by missiles and seeing some shithead living in another country that has all the access to the truth, wilfully ignoring it and talking about how you deserve that dose of reality
Just like you willfully ignore these people? 10 times more have died there than in Ukraine, most of them victims of genocidal ethnic cleansing of entire villages, but far be it for me to say you willfully ignore it all maybe because they don't have the right skin color or maybe they didn't have business dealings with your favorite president's son, or maybe your favorite news outlet didn't instruct you to care.

I have yet to see anyone on this site with an Ethiopian flag in their profile pic. Utterly disgusting fake concern. All fake.

I bet you just gloss over the 1,215,000+ killed overall in Iraq since we Americans decided to ethnically cleanse that country. That's just par for the course for the legions of clueless warhawk clout chasers.

The overall number of confirmed deaths in the war in Donbas, which started on 6 April 2014, has been put at 13,100–13,300, by 31 January 2021. According to the Ukrainian government, 14,000 were killed by the Ukrainian Army.

No, it hasn't. In fact Ukraine is one of the only countries that can claim that its people and nation have never ever initiated a war in their entire history.

Why are you so misinformed? Choice or genetics?

Also, the Ukrainian Army refused to recognize the independence of the Donbass 2015  and attempted to kill everyone there in an overt act of aggression to deny the independence of the people there wanting to break away from a tyrannical Ukraine. Anyone who has studied Ukrainian history knows it's just another broken country run by thugs, warlords, and oligarchs.

It is irrational to Say inflation will cancel out a minimum wage increase
-->
@n8nrgmi
If your goal is to transfer wealth from productive workers to less productive workers, price fixing is one of the worst mechanisms to do that. A simple tax and spend policy wouldn't destroy investor confidence, financial markets or savings of low productivity workers and the price of the goods they supply.

Price fixing the wages of the poor mostly hurts the poor in various ways. Taxing the rich is the only way to keep the poor from having to directly suffer the bad financial effects of the destruction of the very industries they are qualified to work in.

It is irrational to Say inflation will cancel out a minimum wage increase
-->
@n8nrgmi
If minimum were increased by ten percent then inflation might go up two percent.
Wrong, it would be an equal amount. Prices reflect goods and services. Increasing labor costs is directly translated to the costs of goods and services. That 8% cost increase you reference does not magically disappear. Otherwise we could set the price of everyone's wage at one million dollars an hour and get an 8% discount on the expected price of goods and services.

Before you then say "then it has no good or bad effect on prices" since the costs are passed on in an equal ratio, what monkeying around with price controls does do is make investor markets very volatile as the investor can never predict long term price values on goods and services, leading to a severe drop in investor confidence and a descent into dilapidation.

Not to mention it directly devalues the savings of everyone as the value of the dollar is weakened, but almost everyone knows that effect of artificially raising prices and devaluing the dollar. Most people, especially young people don't have asset investments that can rise in value along with inflation. They usually have a cash savings account or a checking balance in a bank. All of that money loses value in a direct proportional rate to inflation.

Maybe we can print money out of thin air, but we still have yet to figure out how to create goods out of thin air.
