That's a cute theory, but the regulations on small business during Covid objectively caused a massive wealth transfer from small businesses to elites. That is real leverage. You would never have seen anything like that before the regulations.

These 2 things are incompatible. Preferential treatment by the government requires regulation of competitors like they did with Covid mandates on small business.
No monopoly can crush competition without government regulations handed down from the one uncontested monopoly on force of the government.

Ottawa police chief resigns in protest of the tyranny.
It's surprising just how much some Canadians in Ottawa feel the mandates are worth fighting and dying over instead of compromising. Evidently, they choose violence to keep the mandates by supporting martial law. And here I was thinking Canadians were mostly nice people.

My state estimates that they can provide a homeless person with a simple studio apt or mobile microhouse for about $12,000/yr. If we can keep basic service under a thousand/month then that's a quarter of what we spend now.
People are going to be scrambling to qualify as homeless if they can get free housing out of it. You can't build that many houses.

No I wouldn't lol. If I supported removing all deductions I would sound like a crazy man like Chavez or Maduro. There's no faster way to crash the economy than to destroy supply chains and production at a rate of 40% a year.
At least the Democrats are reasonable enough to limit the destruction to just 8% via inflation each year.

A 10% wealth tax on the billionaires would raise about $1 trillion/year.
A wealth tax can only fund spending for 1 year since you can't tax the same wealth the next year as it will be significantly diminished. You can only sustainably tax production (not wealth) annually. The top 1 percent don't have as much income as you think, it is mostly savings and investments.

The reason why homelessness is a problem in 1 party banana republics like California stems from 3 things:
1) The state rewards people for being homeless. (throw money and say you care = votes)
2) The state discourages low cost housing construction. (lobbies want to keep property values high)
3) The state prefers outpatient medication over institutionalization because big pharma makes more money that way. Plus it's more expensive to treat all those addicts when you can just let them sleep for free in tent cities. Setting up government rehabilitation centers wouldn't work anyway due to #1 and #2.

Clearly you haven't heard of Salt deductions, a purely Democrat construct. In most 1 party states like New York and California, the top 1 percent pay more to the Democrat party than they do in taxes. Otherwise, they would have left 50 years ago. Not to mention, the rich can only generate a fraction of the revenue needed to support government spending anyway since there's not as many ultra rich as you think in the country, so don't blame the rich for all the deficit spending. Blame both parties for not taxing the poor enough to support such outrageous spending.

Ottawa police have been jackbooted thugs during this protest. They illegally seized fuel in subzero weather hoping to force cold truckers to leave or die in the cold.
A judge eventually forced the police to return the fuel, but many of the cans were returned half full of water. The result was an influx of supporters flooding the area with empty cans to provoke the police into more atrocities.
Hopefully when the donor class meets with large businesses like Ford, people will stop with the thuggery and start talking since all these politicians care about is money from the donor classes.
One bright spot, the illegal seizure of funds is driving interest in cryptocurrency as the donor classes lose their monopoly on the flow of money.
