I wonder what's going on there?

Ask China. They don't give a fuck about colonialism or the Euro either and make no excuses. Despite the UK historically raping the country for centuries for opium.

In China, local kleptocracies are not allowed to be subsidized by idiotic Eurocentric virtue signallers pretending that their aid is needed or wanted by the locals.

Kleptocracies are always oppressed victims of colonialism. Sure.

U.S. President Barack Obama on Monday gave a preview of a summit he will hold with African leaders next week, saying African nations should look inward for solutions to economic woes and not make “excuses” based on a history of dependence and colonization.

Speaking to 500 young Africans finishing a six-week Washington leadership fellowship, Obama said while it was important for developed countries to consider providing some targeted debt relief, it was time to end the notion that all of African nations’ problems resulted from “onerous debt imposed by the West.”
“At some point, we have to stop looking somewhere else for solutions, and you have to start looking for solutions internally,” Obama told the enthusiastic audience.

“And as powerful as history is, and you need to know that history, at some point, you have to look to the future and say, ‘OK, we didn’t get a good deal then, but let’s make sure that we’re not making excuses for not going forward.’”

1) Africa has no system to protect private property, especially agricultural farmlands.

2) Africa is mostly run by kleptocrats and warlords.

3) Africa is at the bottom for literacy rates.

The entire continent is a pitre dish for what tribal socialism can do to a billion people.

There is nothing keeping them from PRINTING ONETRILLIONDOLLARBILLS.

This list is what keeps them. You should pause and look at the many countries like Libya, Niger, Zimbabwe, and Iran that have no credit rating. That's really bad when investors think you are so inept with national funds that you are not worth the effort to rate your credit. Practically half of Africa is unrated with the other half of African nations are in the C range of credit ratings. Insolvency on a continental scale. And you wonder why investors don't have an incentive to develop Africa?

You can find endless woke articles about how the developed world plunders the riches of Africa today, but it's actually the local governments doing that. Regardless of the low credit ratings, some African nations don't even allow foreign capital investment due to ethnocentrism and racism. It's just ridiculous. Trillions of dollars sent to Africa and the poverty remains.

TELL ME ABOUT YOUR CULT(URE)

I did my master's in social work at Boston University, and all they taught me was postmodernism. They never said they were indoctrinating me in that, but they only analyzed social issues from that perspective and any other perspective was not allowed or put as morally wrong. Graduated as a social justice warrior in 2016, elevated by my professors for my skills as an SJW, treated social issues and even my patients under those lenses, and then after one year, I moved back to my home country, Peru. In Peru social issues are often addressed from the leftist perspective, we have single payers health care and education, we have a minimum wage, and an acceptance for big powerful government as the savior for all social problems. I got to see how it did NOT work and created tyranny in which the most affected ones were the poor and vulnerable, the same people SJW claimed to advocate for. I couldn’t understand it, how come they implemented the social policies my professors said would create equity and instead created more social problems? I started questioning everything I was taught and I started seeing and living the injustices of the so-called “social justice”. One year later of exposure to the “social justice” approach and I left the left and became a libertarian. Now I believe in the power of the individual to advance in life, I believe big governments are destined to be inefficient, and I believe dividing society in groups harms the country and the human spirit. I really hope the U.S and Canada can get their universities back from this ideology before is too late, I wouldn’t want them to become developing countries like mine that get to live the daily injustice of the so-called "social justice".

That would be cool to see bamboo and Panda in our National Parks.

I said Trump apologists say he was elected to stand up for the forgotten working class. I don't know why you're asking me about Democrat policies.

Because if you can't find a single Democrat policy promise that provides relief for that, then any monkey that does will likely get elected by those people by default.

Quibbling over the type of default monkey is pointless.

"to stand up for the forgotten working class"

And you think standing up for the forgotten working class means lowering taxes and providing government assistance?

If that was the case, Hillary would be president right now.

What do you think the word "forgotten" signifies?

that the rich would pay more, the forgotten working class would pay less, and special interest loopholes like the carried-interest provision for hedge-fund managers would be gone (none of that happened).

What point are you trying to make? That most guns are legally unregistered?

That the states with the most registered guns and the toughest gun permits and confiscation laws also have the highest crime rates?

If you are trying to draw some ham-handed correlation/causation... you are going to have to do a LOT better.

Why don't you draw up a resolution you think you can defend and we can debate it?

What laws? There are laws to register NFA guns...but the vast majority of guns like handguns do not need to be registered in almost all states.
Would you like to debate this? I can set up a resolution for you.

Fun fact while researching this: California has the toughest gun laws; however, you can own an unregistered gun as long as you never take it outside of your home.

Lol and I guess wanting to keep private insurance is also "collective"

Joe Biden was the strongest candidate for protecting private insurance, and it's one of the main reasons why he won the primary with individualist Democrats.

This thread is looking to discuss whether or not the GOP will retain a populist lean post Trump, or go back to their pro capitalism rhetoric.
By "populist" do you mean anti-crony establishment?

By "pro-capitalism" do you mean pro-crony capitalism?

Why not? Because it's illegal.

Are you 100 percent sure about that?

What is the exact federal law that requires one to register a non-NFA firearm?

How about any state law that requires a non-NFA firearm to be registered?

I live in one of the most backward liberal states and yet gun owners still are not required to register a handgun.
Handguns of course you well know are used in the vast majority of killings.

No, it's the total guns to total deaths by gun.

but not everyone could actually use their gun to kill people

Why not?

The vast majority of guns that exist in America are not used to kill people.

Would you be willing to ask people who own guns why they buy guns? It's not hard to do the research needed to discover why someone thinks differently than you instead of automatically assuming all people who do not agree with you are inherently illogical people.

I can tell you this though, it's highly unlikely you are going to find many people who will say they bought a gun only to use it to kill someone. Certainly not most or even all as you suggest. Similarly, you won't likely find a lot of people who will say they only bought fire insurance only for one use. To burn their house down or have it burned down to collect the money.

 Aren't in use.

Again. This is incredibly false.

It's illogical to assume most people work hard to make the money to purchase things they never use, not even once.

You can say guns have only one use while singing lalala with fingers in your ears but it does not make it true.

Insurance has more than one use of providing peace of mind as well.

The vast majority of guns aren't used at all.

Sure they are, you just don't see the use. It's illogical to assume most people work hard to make the money to purchase things they never use, not even once.

Take a look at insurance, especially catastrophic insurance. Chances are you won't "use" it as in cashing the insurance in for more than you pay into it, and actuary tables reflect that in the price of insurance. The majority of people work hard to buy insurance for the use of peace of mind and lower life stress. Stress is the number one killer by far of people, usually manifesting itself in heart disease, but it can also adversely affect the health of people in many other areas, including mental health, happiness, and overall well-being. It's been generally known for some time that stress also lowers the immune system, which makes it a bit ironic that the very people who stress out over Covid19 are among the ones most at risk of not being able to fight it off with their immune system.

There is a real tangible and measurable benefit from owning guns that I don't think you see here. A benefit that the vast majority of guns are used for.

@Theweakeredge
Therefore, even giving myself the most generous, one gun only commits one murder, you get: Only 1 gun per 28,156 guns commit a murder or an even lower number of 0.0035%, but again, I think this number is pretty misleading. Not only should we actually consider the actual use of the thing we're talking about, we should consider the weapon of choice for most murderers, which is clearly, from the stats I used: a gun. As I pointed out, guns are made to kill, they were designed to, and it should come across as no surprise that the vast majority of homicides are committed by people, using a gun.

Okay, I was using much more conservative numbers than you did which was why mine was a bit higher than yours. (you assumed for convenience 1 gun is one kill, plus I used all deaths, not just homicides)

I just wanted you to see for yourself doing your own analysis that the vast majority of guns in America are not used in fact for killing people, but for other uses.

Because Leftist individualists who voted for traditional Biden recognize the merits of traditional private property rights in America.

They are the reason why the House lost many woke seats.
