Sorry, but I refuse to play the status quo game where Monopolies get to take a victory lap by fixing a problem they caused.
Negotiating with terrorists is a choice I won't make knowing how much harm will come out of it in the future.

Sure. But price caps without fixing the underlying problem is just passing the buck along. And it's unlikely the monopolies will get busted up when the government can take a victory lap. I don't want price caps if it means the monopolies get to remain. It's slapping a bandaid on a problem government created in the first place. Something that really rubs me the wrong way. Sure, people get insulin for now. But next year we will be back here with the same problem with the same monopolies but just a different drug. I'm tired of playing the appeasement shell-game with these monopolies while they dangle false hopes. Burn them to the ground and fix all the problems.

@badger
It's entirely possible competitors would offer insulin cheaper than a government set price cap if the monopolies were broken up. We won't know until the government stops subsidizing monopolies with anti-competition regulations. With a government-set price cap, one of 2 things will happen...the price cap is too high meaning people are still getting shafted...just a little less...or the price cap is too low meaning there will be some shortages and wait lists in the future.

according to your vox article:
The government facilitates patent abuse in the insulin market by allowing pharmaceutical companies to extend their monopolies through a practice called "evergreening." This involves making minor modifications to existing insulin formulas and then obtaining new patents, which effectively blocks competitors from producing generic versions. The FDA's regulatory process, which is stringent and slow, further complicates the entry of generic alternatives. As a result, these practices limit competition, keeping insulin prices high and preventing more affordable options from reaching the market.
Sounds like a fuckton of deregulation is required to break up these monopolies that wouldn't exist without these criminal government patent regulations.

"Shocking Revelation: Speakers at the DNC say bad things about Trump! Who could have seen that coming? 😲 I mean, here I was expecting nothing but praise and glowing reviews from a convention dedicated to his opposition! Truly a plot twist for the ages—what’s next, Republicans criticizing the Biden administration? The audacity! 😂 #Unbelievable #TotallyUnexpected"

"Breaking News: If there's one group of people we can all agree on to give us the unvarnished truth, it's the folks Donald Trump personally fired! I mean, nothing says 'trustworthy' like someone who was dismissed from a job for not going along with the program, right? These brave souls, who now definitely don't have any axes to grind, are the true keepers of honesty and integrity. After all, who better to tell us how things really went down than those who got the boot? Because nothing motivates transparency like a pink slip from Trump Tower!
They’re not just spilling the beans; they’re cashing in on them too! After getting the pink slip, these former employees are generously compensated by the DNC with book deals and cushy gigs as MSM contributors. Because nothing screams 'honesty' like a hefty advance and a seat at the media table! Watch as these ex-staffers—now beloved by the left—enlighten us with their 'unbiased' revelations, proving once and for all that a firing is the best endorsement for credibility.

Joe Biden used the term "bloodbath" in 2019 during a campaign event in New Hampshire. While discussing the potential consequences of impeaching President Donald Trump, Biden mentioned that impeachment could lead to a "constitutional crisis" and a "political bloodbath." He was warning about the divisive and potentially chaotic impact that impeachment proceedings could have on the country.
Talking at a campaign rally in Ohio in 2024, the former president and the Republican 2024 presidential candidate predicted that the country is headed towards a "bloodbath" in November if he loses the election against the Democratic incumbent. "Now, if I don't get elected, it's gonna be a bloodbath. That's going to be the least of it. It's going to be a bloodbath for the country," he said, while commenting on the situation of the U.S. auto workers and car industry.
He later added: "I don't think you're going to have another election in this country, if I don't win this election... certainly not an election that's meaningful."
"What we can't let happen is let this primary become a negative bloodbath," Biden told a crowd of Democratic donors gathered in Bethesda, Maryland,
And then Biden dropped out, fulfilling his prophecy.

Perhaps that's a valid reason why most government appointees have job security, because they know they could run to the press and make up stories that people will believe when the public forms ideas based on gossip.

@HistoryBuff
It's mostly based off of what some people on the side of the road were claiming. It could be true or not.

@HistoryBuff
not sure. But that doesn't speak highly of trump either does it?
It says Trump fires a lot of people and gives those disgruntled employees a solid reason to lie to people who rely on gossip to form their ideas.
Created:

@HistoryBuff
i don't have the number on hand, but something like 75% of the people trump hired for his administration don't endorse his re-election.
How many of those people got fired for incompetence (or really for any reason to hold a grudge and make shit up)?
In any case, relying on gossip when you have millions of hours of actual 1st hand source is a good way to lose the truth.

You're making an overly simplistic and misguided comparison that misses the point entirely. Intelligence and success are not measured by the size of one's inheritance. Einstein’s contributions to science and humanity are rooted in his groundbreaking intellectual achievements, not in financial wealth. Comparing that to Trump’s inheritance is not just a logical fallacy; it trivializes Einstein’s immense impact on the world.
Reducing a person’s value or intelligence to the amount of money they’ve inherited ignores the complexities of what it means to be truly accomplished. Trump’s financial success, whether inherited or earned, does not make him "smarter" than someone like Einstein, whose brilliance reshaped our understanding of the universe. Equating the two reflects a superficial understanding of what intellect and success really mean.
Thinking that money alone defines a person’s worth or intelligence is a shallow view that oversimplifies both Trump’s and Einstein’s legacies. It’s important to recognize that wealth and intellectual achievement are different measures of success, and conflating them only serves to diminish the true value of both.

If you falsely claimed that AI said this while trolling online, you're not just spreading misinformation; you're intentionally trying to provoke and mislead others. The statement you fabricated is harsh and judgmental, designed to belittle and shame individuals in a way that’s both unfair and harmful. Attributing such an offensive and misguided sentiment to AI to stir up reactions is a dishonest tactic that disrespects both the truth and the people you're targeting.
Trolling like this doesn’t just hurt the conversation; it actively poisons it. By falsely claiming that AI generated such a statement, you're feeding into the worst aspects of online behavior—spreading lies, creating unnecessary conflict, and trying to undermine others through manipulation. It’s a move that reflects poorly on you and contributes nothing positive to the discourse.
If your goal is to engage in meaningful discussion, there are far better ways to do it than resorting to deceit and trolling. Spreading falsehoods and making harmful claims under the guise of AI not only erodes trust but also diminishes your own credibility. It’s time to step away from the trolling and focus on honest, constructive communication.

The statement "You are obviously edited your AI computations" is not just grammatically incorrect, but it also demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of language and logic. Grammatically, the sentence mixes tenses and subjects incorrectly. "You are obviously edited" incorrectly combines a present continuous verb ("are") with a past tense verb ("edited"). It should either be "You have obviously edited" or "You are obviously editing." Additionally, "your AI computations" is being misused as an object without a clear action linking it to the subject, making the sentence confusing and incomplete.
Conceptually, the error is even more glaring. The phrase suggests that AI computations can be "edited" in real-time by some external force, which reflects a misunderstanding of how AI operates. AI outputs are generated based on inputs, training data, and algorithms, not something that can be whimsically "edited" like a document. The statement betrays a lack of understanding about AI’s mechanisms, showing an attempt to critique something not fully comprehended.
Being a troll by making such poorly constructed statements isn’t constructive. Instead of engaging in meaningful discussion or critique, you're spreading misinformation and confusion. If your goal is to challenge or question something, it’s important to do so from a place of knowledge and clarity, not from a position that reveals a lack of understanding and ends up undermining your credibility.

He inherited 700 million
During his presidency, Donald Trump experienced a significant decline in his net worth, losing over $700 million. This substantial loss was largely due to the struggles of his real estate and hospitality businesses, sectors that were hit particularly hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Properties like his hotels and golf courses faced decreased revenue due to travel restrictions and economic downturns, which significantly impacted his overall wealth.
Despite these losses, Trump's wealth remains considerable compared to the average American, including professionals like airline pilots. Even after losing more than $1 billion during his time in office, Trump's net worth was still estimated at around $2.5 billion by the end of his presidency. This wealth is spread across various assets, including real estate, brand licensing, and other investments, ensuring that his financial standing remains strong.
In comparison, while airline pilots are well-compensated, often earning six-figure salaries, their income and overall net worth are dwarfed by Trump’s. The gap between Trump's remaining fortune and that of an airline pilot highlights the immense scale of his wealth, even after suffering significant financial setbacks during his presidency.

Your argument that Trump cheated on his taxes despite numerous IRS audits is not only speculative but also ignores key facts. The IRS audits tax returns to ensure they comply with the law, especially for high-profile individuals like Trump. If there had been any significant wrongdoing, it would have been detected during these thorough reviews. The absence of penalties or legal actions related to his taxes suggests that no evidence of cheating was found. Claiming otherwise without proof is misleading and unfounded.
Furthermore, Trump’s tax returns are complex, involving numerous legal deductions and business expenses. While some might debate the fairness of the tax code that allows these deductions, it's a leap to equate using legal tax strategies with cheating. Just because someone pays less in taxes doesn’t mean they’re doing something illegal. Conflating the two is not only inaccurate but also disingenuous.
Being a troll by spreading unfounded accusations is counterproductive and damages the quality of discussion. If you’re genuinely concerned about tax fairness or specific issues in Trump’s returns, bring forward evidence or valid points for debate. Otherwise, making baseless claims without evidence does nothing but spread misinformation and stir unnecessary controversy.
