Mistake or not, it still is suspicious. At the very least, it's criminally negligent.
That’s nonsense. It’s not suspicious if they denied ballots to both Republicans and Democrats. It is in no way criminally negligent.

The Sheriff did say that they were looking into the possibility of filing criminal charges.
Sheriffs are some of the biggest kooks in elective office. Fortunately they don’t decide who gets prosecuted.

The midterms are today. Go vote, then come here and post all your darkest fears, then watch the results come in, then cry hysterically about America's future. Ready? Here we go!

The 24 hour news cycle is infamously vitriolic actually, and has done a lot of damage
I agree cable news engages in sensationalism and conservative media is vitriolic i.e. Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity et.al

No doubt the topics I post about you are never going to see on the media you consume so it would be a bit shocking to you. Would you ever see this statement on FOX News?  — Jason Reifler, a political science professor who taught in Georgia and Illinois before joining the faculty at the University of Exeter in Britain, said Trump introduced a whole new level of lying in politics”

this is Exhibit B of why no one here respects you.
Most of the people here are Trumpers. They are not deserving of respect nor do I want to “make nice”with them. I’m here simply to tamp down the nonsense and expose the idiots to some reality that they won’t find on twitter, FOX News, or OAN.

be sure to report anything suspicious you see any poll workers doing.
Not suspicious. It was just a mistake. Some Democrats were also denied those same ballots. Don’t be such a conspiracy theory looney

Freeman stated that among the voters impacted there were:

19 Republicans,
7 Democrats,
4 Independents,

It’s a sad day in America when Brazil has leaders with more integrity than the United States
In Brazil, when the tallies showed that the incumbent had been voted out after just one term, the government responded jointly, swiftly and decisively. The Senate President, the Attorney General, Supreme Court justices and the heads of the electoral agency went on television together and announced the winner. The House Speaker, perhaps the president’s most important ally, then read a statement reiterating that the voters had spoken. Other right-wing politicians quickly followed suit.
President Jair Bolsonaro, politically isolated, stayed silent for two days. Then, under pressure from his top advisers, he agreed to transfer power.

Thousands of Bolsanaro’s supporters took to the streets, blocking highways and demanding a military intervention, but the armed forces have shown no interest in disrupting the electoral process. The demonstrations quickly fizzled and the government began its transition.

Brazil, Brazil has a more stable democracy than the United States of America. Yeah Republicans

A recent ad supporting Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) attacks his challenger, Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes (D), with language similar to that used against Dukakis.
“What happens when criminals are released because bail is set dangerously low?” says the voice in the ad, created by the National Republican Senatorial Committee. Then the ad cuts to news footage showing “tragedy” in a Wisconsin community as an SUV plows through a crowd at a Christmas parade, before cutting to a man who was arrested. “Mandela Barnes wants to end cash bail,” the voice in the ad says. “Completely. He wrote the bill. Barnes still wants to end cash bail. Today.”

Every state should do their elections like Florida. They have a large percentage of the vote that comes in absentee and they still manage to count virtually everything in a few hours.
Well apparently Florida law allows election officials to start processing absentee ballots early

2)(a) The county canvassing board may begin the canvassing of vote-by-mail ballots at 7 a.m. on the 22nd day before the election, but not later than noon on the day following the election. In addition, for any county using electronic tabulating equipment, the processing of vote-by-mail ballots through such tabulating equipment may begin at 7 a.m. on the 22nd day before the election. However, notwithstanding any such authorization to begin canvassing or otherwise processing vote-by-mail ballots early, no result shall be released until after the closing of the polls in that county on election day. Any supervisor, deputy supervisor, canvassing board member, election board member, or election employee who releases the results of a canvassing or processing of vote-by-mail ballots prior to the closing of the polls in that county on election day commits a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.[2]

Republicans have relied on race baiting and fear mongering for decades
The voice in the now-infamous 30-second political ad, created by supporters of George H.W. Bush during his 1988 presidential campaign against Democrat Michael Dukakis, sounds ominous as it tries to paint Dukakis as weak on crime

Ironically, the policy in question had been created years earlier, in 1972, by Massachusetts Gov. Francis Sargent, a Republican. He had implemented a program that allowed prisoners weekend time away from prison in exchange for good behavior.

During a 1988 debate against Dukakis, Al Gore brought up the case of Horton, asking Dukakis about “weekend passes for convicted criminals.” Dukakis explained “the Massachusetts furlough program for murderers sentenced to life imprisonment had been canceled”.

The issue did not take for Gore, but the exchange attracted the interest of the research director for the Bush campaign. After Dukakis won the Democratic nomination, Lee Atwater, a young but shrewd Republican political strategist who ran Bush’s presidential campaign, jumped on the issue.

The Willie Horton ad and Atwater’s political strategy would become a a symbol of the dark side and half truths of Republican politics. In his obituary, when he died in 1990, at the age of 40, critics, wrote “his success in elevating a black murderer-rapist named Willie Horton into a national figure used to crush the presidential bid of Michael S. Dukakis was a crude appeal to racism and the epitome of the negative campaign.”

Months before Atwater died a young man, he expressed regret for using divisive political tactics. Atwater wrote in a Life Magazine story: “In 1988, fighting Dukakis, I said that I ‘would strip the bark off the little bastard’ and ‘make Willie Horton his running mate.’ I am sorry for both statements: the first for its naked cruelty, the second because it makes me sound like a racist, which I am not.”

Republican campaigns and lies have only gotten worse since the Willie Horton ad.

WHEREAS, The RNC, had the Platform Committee been able to convene in 2020, would have undoubtedly unanimously agreed to reassert the Party’s strong support for President Donald Trump and his Administration;
Well that clarifies that the RNC renewed the old platform so thank you.

But this is pretty bad. They have officially continued to tie themselves to a twice impeached, one term, President who is under investigation for stealing and mishandling classified documents as well as other state and federal investigations.

To have a platform that is 6 years old is pretty telling. And it will be 8 years old by the time they replace it. What is their position on Ukraine or Inflation?
Do they still support Trump? We don’t know and I think they would rather not say.

Right wing nut extremists are the biggest threat to our country
Of the more than 440 extremism-related murders committed in the past decade, more than 75 percent were committed by right-wing extremists, white supremacists or anti-government extremists. The remaining quarter stemmed from a range of other motivations, according to a study by the Anti-Defamation League. There were 29 extremist-related homicides last year: 26 committed by right-wing extremists, two by Black nationalists and one by an Islamic extremist. The Department of Homeland Security has warned again and again that domestic extremism motivated by white supremacist and other right-wing ideologies is the country’s top terrorism threat.

There have been attacks on conservatives, too, but the number and nature of the episodes aren’t comparable, and no leading figures in the Democratic Party condone, mock or encourage their supporters to violence in ways that are common from politicians on the right and their supporters in the conservative media.

What do you believe are some of the lies which helped Trump win the presidency?
Obama wasn’t born in America.

Hillary mishandled classified material in her emails

The unemployment rate is really 25%

Most Mexicans bring drugs, crime and are rapists.

Obama founded ISIS

Terrorists are crossing the southern border into the country to attack us

The only way he could possibly loss the 2016 election is if it’s rigged.

Democrats were loading up buses to drive voters from Massachusetts across the border into swing state New Hampshire.

In December 2015, Politifact named "the many campaign misstatements of Donald Trump" as its "2015 Lie of the Year", noting at the time that 76 percent of Trump statements rated by the factchecking website were rated "Mostly False, False or Pants on Fire", more than any other politician.

Trump directed hush money be paid to former Mistresses in a way that violated campaign finance laws.

This is completely wrong. From the 1950s-60s Republicans never won more than 45% of the popular vote. In 1968, their best year, they only won 45% of the popular vote. The other close year was in 1955 with 44%. They fluctuated between 27-37% generally.
What’s that got to do with the south changing to the Republican Party in the 1970s?

After the Civil Rights laws of 1964 and 65, Majority support for the Democratic Party amongst Southern whites first fell away at the presidential level, and several decades later at the state and local levels.

@Public-Choice
nobody was standing up for blacks in the early 1900s

After decades of loyal support, by 1912, many African-Americans had grown disillusioned with the Republican Party and its record of failure on civil rights. This view was particularly true with regards to Taft, whose campaign barely acknowledged the black community, in part to avoid alienating southern whites, whom Taft mistakenly believed could finally be won over by a Republican candidate. At first, many prominent African-Americans including Booker T. Washington, lent their support instead to the Progressive Party candidate, Teddy Roosevelt. Roosevelt's own record towards the black community while in office was suspect, however. Roosevelt's standing with the black community, already vulnerable, was irreparably harmed after the Progressive Party endorsed segregation at their 1912 convention.[25]
Though African-Americans had increasingly been drawn into the ranks of Democratic Party supporters in regions where the party's Liberal wing was very strong, Wilson's candidacy was initially broadly dismissed out of hand. However, during the 1912 campaign, Wilson, to the surprise of many, appeared highly responsive to the concerns of the black community. In his correspondences with representatives of the black community, Wilson promised to answer their grievances if elected and made a point of promising to be "the President of all Americans." Wilson never expressly renounced his prior views on segregation and race relations, but many took his words and actions – such as receiving black leaders at his home on multiple occasions – as showing that he was a changed man.

Ah. Yes. Those extreme Republicans and their freeing of the slaves and giving women the right to vote and opposition to Jim Crow laws and fighting for desegregation in schools and society at large and their Civil War with the Confederates.
The Party of Lincoln has nothing in common with the Party of Trump.
Jim Crow laws were fought by Kennedy, LBJ and the Democrats outside of the south. The Democrats in the south promptly became Republicans after the Democrats passed civil rights laws.
In 1916, Woodrow Wilson states that the Democratic Party platform will support suffrage.

I do agree, which is why I think it was obscene and disgusting to prioritize this based on race instead of objective need. The people who implemented policies such as giving monoclonal antibodies to black 18 year olds over white people in their 60s, or trying to keep white people from accessing financial aid for their businesses have a lot to answer for
I doubt it. It seems likely the distribution of relief in this way was appropriate. An 18 yo black man is likely to have zero history of having medical care or access to a PCP. A 65 year old white guy probably goes to the doctor twice a week and has had a PCP his entire life from birth.
