R1: Con
Artist(s): Becky Hill (with Ella Eyre)
Song name: Business

This was more of a vote against Pro. I don’t like that type of moaning-singing. The brief guitar riff was alright though.

R2: Pro
Artist(s): The Evens
Song name: Cut From The Cloth

I liked the instrumental reverb and the vocal/lyrical tone that went along with it. The production sounded indie in a good way.

Neither song really stood out.

R4: Con
Artist(s): Black Pumas
Song name: Colors (Offical Live Session)

I’m not really a blues guy apart from instrumental riffs which this song delivered on in its second half, with both guitar and piano.

R5: Con
Artist(s): Camilla Cabello
Song name: Shameless

This was more of a vote against Pro again. I’m not a fan of what sounded like a theremin. There was a lot going on. Too much.

Disclaimer: I suck at voting on DDO.

R1: Pro
Artist: Jedi Mind Tricks
Song Name: The Sacrilege of Fatal Arms
Reason:

I liked the instrumental cadence and flow. I found it somewhat hypnotic. The raw vocals and aggression I also liked.

R2: Con
Artist: Immortal Technique
Song Name: Dance with the Devil
Reason:

It was like a very graphic rap of a synopsis of a dark novel. Really different from previous songs I’ve heard from you guys.
Plus it was either this or a mumble rap (chorus) which is a big no no for me.

R3: Con
Artist: Oddisee
Song Name: Own Appeal
Reason:

This vote was more of a vote against RationalMadman’s song. I disliked the lullaby theme.

R4: Con
Artist: Dark Time Sunshine feat. Reva Devito
Song Name: Never Cry Wolf

Again, this was more of a vote against RationalMadman. His song was borderline mumble rap if not completely mumble rap. Big no no.

R5: Pro
Artist: Sa-Roc
Song Name: NSFW (Not Safe For Weak Rappers)

Pro has the best songs but he also has the worst.

I’m bad at voting but here I go.

R1. Pro
Reason:

RationalMadman’s song tries to tackle big ideas but fails spectacularly in a mess of hyperbole one after another.

BigPimpDaddy‘s song keeps it simply personal and coherent with a sick flow.

R2. Con
Reason:
BigPimpDaddy‘s song had some disturbing lyrics in the first few lines of the opening verse, “clean logic procreation I did not invent the wheel I was the crooked spoke adjacent While the triple sixers lassos keep angels roped in the basement”. What the fuck dude?

the messages in RationalMadman’s song are important although they do not speak to me. Plus I liked the rhythm.

R3. Con
Reasons:
In terms of BigPimpDaddy‘s song, though I liked the flow everything else was a bit too generic for my taste.

RationalMadman song came out guns blazing with the dissing, which is a nice change of pace from his previous music.

R4. Pro
Reason:

I’m purely giving this one to BigPimpDaddy due to the songs comedic theme. Very unique. I also liked the brass and piano which went well with it.

In terms of RationalMadman’s song I loved the chorus but everything else was alright.

R5. Con
Reason:

It’s close but if I had to pick it’s Con due to the female vocals and the addressing of societal issues such as the negative effects of media, overprescription of drugs, etc.
