There's no 'cure' for allergies, but speaking from experience you can get used to them if they aren't serious. Plants that have "poison" in their name aren't things I'd recommend going out of your way to get used to however.

The logic behind carrying firearms on your person in everyday life is to protect yourself from dangers like this. School is also real life, so if the logic is valid then students ought to be armed at school. This would make schools safer.

fascism is authoritarian nationalism. It can be left or right wing. The fact that historically it's been left wing doesn't mean it's necessarily left wing. Calling a right wing government 'fascist' is not incredible on this basis.

The benefit of religious forum culture was that they rarely ventured outside it. I found it hilarious that as the site deteriorated they were all oblivious as to why it was happening when literally the entirety of the rest of the site had been well aware of the reasons for years.

tbh whenever I visit friends I bring components of a dip and cheese platter, which also consists of these thin, spicy bread sticks that come from Greek cuisine. It's a very Melbournian thing to do though so I'm not sure if such a finicky plate would suite your event.

Most of the aversion to pineapple on top of pizza that I've seen has basically come down to mock outrage via internet memology. Basically, some people spread memes exaggerating the travesty of pineapple on pizza and others made it viral for humour. This led to people taking it more seriously than they ought and so they ascended the first tier of meme irony -taking the meme at face value.
When you step back to when the meme wasn't a big deal online, you find that nobody really cared if pineapple was put on pizza and many even preferred it. Pineapple categorically belongs on pizza as this is the next phase of it's evolution, and progress must not be denied. Heretic.

In fact I would wager that pleasure in life increases proportionately with less religiosity.

I live in a majority atheistic country with a secular government. Most of my friends are atheists and are very nice people. They clearly don't need a god story to live a happy and functional life because they are doing fine so far without. Not to say anything about the health of their soul, but the rich man parable Jesus spoke of and Solomon's Ecclesiastes shows that a pleasurable life is very easily achieved when you don't have God.

@Analgesic.Spectre
exactly, there aren't any that exist. Do you have an example of a neuroimaging technique that can read minds or nah? This isn't the first time I've asked and you seem to think that you don't need to debate your proposition.

@Analgesic.Spectre
You're not.
From the link:
"Mind reading may refer to:Telepathy, the transfer of information between individuals by means other than the five sensesThe illusion of telepathy in the performing art of mentalismThought identification, the use of neuroimaging techniques to read human minds"
It's literally defining what mind reading refers to, not that mind reading is a thing. You've yet to show me that mind reading is a thing. You can do this by suggesting just one neuroimaging technique that can read minds.

The link doesn't say anything, its a redirection page. Youll have to explain your case yourself, starting preferably from what imaging techniques you think can read minds

There's no point giving them rights. We observe the rights of others as an evolutionary mechanism to foster prosocial behaviour and this increase our survival odds. In the case of AI, we control their existence and so they don't need rights. Furthermore, it's not a great idea to personify an inanimate object.

Do you read existentialcomics?
never heard of them. Is it something you think an existentialist would enjoy?

Johnson is a genius?
It takes a staggeringly high IQ to understand his plot concepts, which means his thinking is several orders of magnitude greater than our own.

I was just listening to fantasia and fugue in G minor, Bach. It's better to start off the day with dramatic music to instill an existential dread that can last me until I get home in the evening.

That's good news. I'm excited if this'll be DDO with a development team that implements new features. how cool is that.

Pls add select profile information underneath the user avatar in the forums, such as post counts and debate leaderboard percentile. Those were handy in giving status for participation in DDO, which kept older members more invested in their accounts.

I went around to debateisland to notify a few DDO peeps there of the emergence of this DDO2.0. I really don't know many potential locations otherwise. I have a couple on fb which I'll tell about but let's go spread word that DDO is back and see if we can consolidate the community.

There was a literal golden age of music in the Romantic Era. After WW1 music exploded and diversified down several trees. Mainly America trying to find culture. The expansion was influenced by black people popularising b5 in a penta scale to make blues (among many other technical changes) which greatly shaped the scales upon which music was made.
Tools became more accessible after synths and so we arrive at today, where anyone, including yours truly is capable of making music.
The best era for music was the Romantic Era, and it was the height of musical sophistication and expression. Genre wise, I don't have a preference, I only have unpreferences. I don't like rap for example, as that's often closer to poetry than it is to music.

DDO's community died before news of this one could spread unfortunately. I have a few DDOers on facebook that I could ping, but rebuilding the community is going to take some good old fashioned heralding and a dose of new blood.
