Plutia is the CPU of alternate-world planeptune. Her HDD form, Iris heart is the kinkiest character in the entire universe. Google image search Iris heart and you'll see why I don't use her lol.

I'm actually a plutia fan but I'd get banned if I used the more common images of her so I'm settling for second best.

I woke up at 9:45 after a late night, went out of my room and down to the laundry to fetch my towel. I retrieved my towel and retraced my steps to get to my wardrobe to get some clothes for today. I went to the bathroom and took a hot shower in approximately 40 degree Celsius water for approximately 10 minutes. I briefly introspected on the plight of humanity before drying off, shaving and getting dressed. I went out of the bathroom and made my way to the kitchen where I put my phone on charge and put two slices of bread into the toaster. As they cooked I was confronted with my first dilemma, what spread would I have on my toast this morning? The sheer enormity of the responsibility of the decision began to weigh down on me, and I started to sweat with anxiety. I turned around to the fridge, hoping for answers to relieve me of my mental burden. As I gazed upon the jams and condiments therein, a sense of relief began to wash through me. The decision had already been made for me by virtue of the fact that I had run out of jam. I made a silent prayer of thanks to the Lord for saving me from this tribulation and prepared Vegemite toast with tea. I returned to my room to commence a long day of study on the applications of neuroimaging in pharmacology. Suddenly I felt a strange beckoning, and opened a new tab to navigate my way here to enlighten you on a question that the Lord had obviously sent me to answer. Bless you my child for your ignorance has been illuminated.

Person 1 is completely innocent because person 2 was definitely a while male and was oppressing her through his bigotry and she was just doing her bit to fight the patriarchy.
imo put both in jail because threat to society is the foremost concern of a murder trial, with justice for the deceased a close second.

naturally if votes determine the winner of a debate the debaters would want proper feedback on their arguments given the investment they make in them. It's not a lot of effort to explain what you mean by the one-liners you made.

That he is painted often as "Right-Wing", is absurd to me on an independent note.
The left has gone so far to the left that even centrists like me are perceived as right wing. I'm actually left leaning, and it's endlessly hilarious that they're so far left I might as well be an alt-right nazi.
I have a meme for this.

Thank you for the correction lol, I sourced that faulty info from another discussion about his climate change denial and if that was link to conservative Christianity. My fault for the poor research there.
In my opinion, views on post modernism don't require evidence in order to dismiss, as it's purely philosophy. Here it would be helpful to draw a distinction between real social issues (eg women's happiness) and feminism. When he critiques feminism, I wouldn't criticise him for anything as everything in philosophy is essentially fair game barring logical fallacy. If my criticism has attacked his views on feminism, then I'll concede the point, because I don't mean to attack him for what I'm effectively doing right here.
I agree with your point that these issues don't materialise from a vacuum and I think it's a very good point. The context of the discussion being about post modern feminism and it's implications is very fair, but I think he has given enough opinions on real, mechanical issues to warrent the criticism of how he approaches empirical issues.
For the philosophical side, I think it's irresponsible for any feminist to be a post modernist and on that I completely agree with his logic. Science is better at creating solutions than any other epistemology known to man. When a feminist blames a real social issue on the 'patriarchy,' they are hurting other women. The only real way to solve the issue is to explicitly identify what it is and design an effective intervention strategy. If a boss is deliberately blocking his female staff from promotions because he's a misogynist, that's a valid problem. A feminist seeing that, who blames the 'patriarchy' has immediately eliminated all hope of solving the problem, because there is nothing operation to work with in the term 'patriarchy.' They've taken the problem and hidden it behind an abstract concept, far removed from the reach of evidence based policy.
It's ironic that feminists are the most convinced that we can harm each other with our words, yet use terms that hurt their own cause. The irony returns.

sex, mating, sexual behaviour etc are enormous research fields, far bigger than what my limited experience can comment on. His claim iirc "females aren't happy because they, by their own volition settle for sub-optimal partners." The discussion was about females choosing poor partners and ending up disgruntled, evolution aside (because he doesn't give credence to evolution which your link is heavy on). I don't even think he'd believe that there is an evolutionary explanation for mating behaviour and psychology, despite all the strongest theories being evolutionary.
The pop psychology part is the happiness bit. A little known fact about psychology is that there is no unity within the field and each field of research tends to produce conflicting theories. Consequently it's safe to be highly skeptical of claims that marry different fields and claim things that don't have an intuitive link to each other. It's fine to claim that women want strong and capable partners, and it's also very easy to study. To claim that this is the source of the social issues that women face is completely bizarre and not supported. That sort of link can't even be tested. It's not science, but he acts like it is, and asserts it as if it were true! Sorry but no, I can't just buy it.
As for his musings on religion, I'm not familiar with his religious beliefs other than being an agnostic christian, which is a very common Australian identity coincidentally lol.

@DebateArt.com
Suggestion: Debates should have variable word count limits, where the instigator can choose the limits. The rationale of limits is that it can do several things: force conciseness, narrow the scope of the debate, reduce technicality of the debate, make the debate easy to read etc.
30k characters is a huge amount. Each round can be the size of scientific paper, which makes voting on the debate only possible for those who have too much disposable time and motivation on their hands. On the flip side, character limits tend to punish those with better sourcing, as more sources means more characters.
Maybe a references section in each round that doesn't count characters would be feasible?

how would you prove that someone edited a post?
Created:
When I cook mince with low grade beef I'll often simmer it to draw out the fat. I don't have to do this with higher grades, so if they can offer low fat meats I'd be willing to pay up to about $4-5/kg more over the normal ones I buy. It would be healthier in addition to saving me time in cooking it.

There's a period of about 5 minutes where the author of a post has the opportunity to edit their post without leaving evidence that an edit occurred. In mafia, this might mean a scum player notices a slip in another scum players post and gets them to redact the slip or the tell.
As far as I'm aware, DA will be the first site where mafia players are capable of editing posts. Should we agree on a shared norm re post editing in mafia and do you think it can be enforced?

If anyone has suggested a preview feature for debate arguments and forum posts, that would be greatly appreciated. I didn't know what my argument formatting would look like when I posted my argument, so I had to butcher my APA6th style referencing format to ensure it didn't end in chaos. If I could check what the argument would look like beforehand it would allow me to make my arguments a lot more neater and aesthetic.

Airmax spent all day closing down spam accounts until the incident where all the inactive bots started posting all at the same time. It was beyond his powers to stop. The site would've died long before without Airmax.
On the subject of trolls, it's up to you to host civilised conversation with your fellow members. I've seen some of the flame wars that went down and in every case, you were the one who wasn't restraining yourself or staying civil. Atheists have a right to disagree, mock, ridicule or otherwise attack your beliefs. If you get angry, you start a flame war that doesn't have to happen.

That's an interesting view, but consider that most religious experiences involve an experience that conform to what the person already believes. I read one study where a bunch of devout Mormons were put in fMRI and brain areas implicated in religious experience were artificially stimulated. Religious experiences were produced but they were all sensations of God or things that Mormons already believe in. I think you have to be highly receptive to religion in order to get a religious experience.

If you remember Lars, he was an impactful DDO member who started edeb8.com. He disappeared several months ago inexplicably, and has not been back on his site since.
His fb page is inactive, as he doesn't appear to use fb much, and I can't find my old google + messages with him from several years ago to locate his google profile.
The NZ localiser says his company (Lynked Limited) is registered, but company search shows that it has been removed, with no date information. From what I am aware of, Lars started the company in 2012 and worked from home as the sole shareholder of the web design brand. It's my belief that he dropped the company and went to University where he published this literature review in 2017: https://ir.canterbury.ac.nz/handle/10092/14620
I don't understand why it's from the university of Canterbury when he said he attends uni of Auckland, but there's likely a simple explanation. I found it was very easy to find his address, DoB, education history, everything about him is online. That's why the disconnect is very out of character. He's very into ICT and has always been online in some way, shape or form.
I'm currently looking for members who have him on google or other social networking sites who can contact him. Edeb8 is in trouble atm and the site has all but died.

The lower brain controls autonomic functions. You can't just disconnect someone's medulla oblongata and expect a machine to take over. We don't have that sort of technology and the person will just die. They would have to be in some sort of comatose state for the body to remain living.

@Buddamoose
Absolutely, and if you're referring to the 'so-what-you're-saying-is' women then yes. The portrayal I gave of Peterson's views was unfair and you've pointed out valid holes in my wage gap representation of him.
He says this same thing, and then supplies data supported factors that have been conclusively shown to be very predictive factors in income. I couldn't give two craps about what some dude said about galileo, the example you gave is NOT rationalism v empiricism. There is no more empirical claim that could be made then to say there is a gap, but that gap is not necessarily sexism, and likely isnt either as for example the basic observation:
Well yes it is, and I literally copy/pasted it across from one of my digital textbooks as an example of this very common form of reasoning. We don't get to see Peterson in forums like this where he can elucidate exactly what studies he refers to. In his interviews and live 'debates' it's all rhetoric. In his interview with Mrs. SoWhatYou'reSayingIs for example he literally used the line "Well I'm a clinical psychologist" when he was asked who he was to make the assertions he did. That women aren't happy with their partners and choose substandard males is not clinical psychology, it's a branch of psychodynamics which has so little legitimacy in psychology that many psychologists would dismiss it outright as non-scientific. You may have heard the term 'pop-psychology.' It includes the sort of broad assertions about how males and females think that Peterson frequently brings up. When I say he's speaking outside of his field of expertise, I mean it. He's parading pop-psychology as if it were a part of his scientific field, and of course that would piss off any other psychologist because this is half the reason why quite a few people question the scientific basis of psychology. It has nothing to do with clinical psychology.
On the wage gap, I'm not skeptical of its existence because it isn't hard to accept that women are paid less than men. I am skeptical of the claim that this is due to sexism because, unlike the former proposition, this one does not have a defined mechanism of action and I've not seen any empirical evidence otherwise. If you were to explain to me that men indeed are sexist pigs that deliberately underpay women, your argument is purely a rationalistic one, and wouldn't convince me. However, it would convince someone who is looking to validate their belief that men are sexist pigs. Reverse the social direction of this controversial statement and you effectively have a Jordan Peterson.
I frame it as rationalism vs empiricism because that's exactly what you framed it as first. I'm not going to use wage gap as an example because you fairly pointed out that my representation of him was unfair, so I'll use the example of the argument he mad in the interview which you brought up. I explain up there why this is an example of him over-simplifying something he clearly knows nothing about. I know he knows nothing about it because nobody really knows anything about it. He's appealing to special knowledge if he is basing his claim on empirical fact. It's purely rationalism and rhetoric.
I've noticed over the course of this discussion that I've extended my criticism of him, so I'll take a moment to articulate exactly what my issue with him is:
> Oversimplifying history and science to render his point of views truisms
> Speaking outside his field against experts in their own fields without empirical evidence of his own
> Bad science (pop psychology and other woohoo hand gestures that aren't the subject of any research field, let alone clin psych)

If any goes wrong, I'll have successfully protected the public from the use of that drug. I have gotten sick from experimental drugs before, however medicine is essential to the quality of life of humanity therefore there needs to be people to test them. Right now you're communicating with me on a device containing thousands of components manufactured with millions of chemicals all of which were developed by the same processes of scientific testing. the MSDS for each chemical was developed on the basis on animal trials so if you're against the use of animals for research, show me that you mean it and toss out whatever device you're talking to me with and don't get a new one again.
