I was raised catholic and still go to mass sometimes, which I don’t suppose the atheists would approve of. I’d call myself a Christian in ethos and culture but I see no reason to pretend I detect the presence of God when I really don’t.
You can’t be a Christian in ethos and culture without detecting the presence of God because the presence of God is a part of the ethos and culture.
I wouldn’t call myself an atheist. I don’t see any need to subscribe to some ism. Why draw any definite conclusions about the nature of the universe before we have even surveyed the universe
