Ok ok I just finished reading like the 7 or so pages I missed. There are two possible answers for Crocodile's playing. One, he's a complete idiot of a town. Or two, he's genius scum. How is he scum? Well, first off, I'd like to say that he is definitely Ani. It's not likely it was a fake claim provided by pie and it's way too risky in case of being cc'd. But he's not town either. What really threw me off wasn't the sudden claim but the repeated hinting at a power role. With an established miller, this kind of play seems to be baiting the cops. Why would he want a cop to investigate him? Because he's the godfather. Reading up on the wiki, Ani is apparently very good at socially interacting, yet has a problem with lying:
Ani often lies about her whereabouts in order to spend some free time pursuing her own hobbies and interests. However, this habit had made her into an unreliable narrator as she also lied to Clay and Jessica about her interactions with Bryce and to Deputy Standall during both of her interrogations.
As shown by that line.
People were starting to get suspicious of Crocidile so he voted himself and said a bunch of almost painfully idiotic things. This made him more inno? (don't quote me on this last sentence tho)
This doesn't directly contradict what I said about the theme of the game as Ani may look like a good guy, but actually is a compulsive liar. (this is what I got from the wiki, if im wrong please tell me)

Yeah, and that's what I thought he was saying. The alignment in the show is the alignment in the game was rat's theory. Everyone on that list confirmed that theory and you just did too. While it is possible that the theme is something else, good vs bad is the most likely theme.

Hmmm, a lot of people seem to be agreeing with Rat's theme theory. Since the idea is out there we should make a chart to see if everyone's char relates with their role and are good guys.

Well it certainly does seem like press put a butt ton of effort into his char claim. Though the effort itself can't justify if he's town or mafia, on one hand, town would want to convince other town that they really are miller and mafia would want to convince town that they are town. I think when you say elaborate you mean that it's elaborate because it closely resembled the original pm. But while the first paragraph of press's pm does resemble my pm a bit the next two don't really.
Also, he drowned Bryce in the ocean(which seems heinous on the outside) but was doing it in an attempt to protect his friends, and felt deep regret afterwards.

Where was Speedrace decently active? He directly challenged my character claim (demanding an explanation for it ASAP), answered to one question (which was so easy to respond to that it could possibly be set up, and would also make the asker look extremely scummy if they weren't new), and said "lol" twice. That was all he did in this thread. He made only one post which could be counted as substantive.

I hope this is the last one. Firstly, this plan would bank on you claiming miller, and counterclaiming wouldn't necessarily put mafia at an advantage. Secondly, this trap that may have been set didn't even work.

I don't think it's a sub-optimal town play. Claiming miller at the start is much more believable than if someone claimed miller after a cop said they were guilty, which would be the sus-est thing ever.
