In schools required reading, have there been any books or stories, that stand out in your memory, if so, why?

To be honest, school was not that important in my learning course except in science & mathematics. Something that stood out, maybe La Curee by Zola, Notre-Dame de Paris by Hugo, Knock by Romains, Robinson, Antigone... ah the memories.
La Curee was intense, very descriptive & connected, about a rivalry between a banker & a shylock Jew, tale of how he rose to the top & fell back down, about the devastation impact of La Bourse (stock market) & the lasting & extensive effects of tiny things in people's lives.
Notre-Dame is beautiful & visual, it drives conflicting emotions in you, though genuine emotions, it really is about appearances vs. truths, & the corruption of the Church. Hugo often takes jabs at religiosity & the ugly faces of the Church vs. the simple humble man.
Knock is just hilarious & so unexpectedly deep. A doctor in a healthy village in need of clients & his amazing convincing powers, he can make a horse think he is a dead rat. Everything he is & everything he does is evil, yet you root for him & fall for his empathy act just like his clients do.
Robinson is a castaway story of a dude stranded in an island. I don't remember the story vividly, but it was one of the first novels I read.
Antigone is just one of those stories you can't make up. It's a play of Oedip. So much convoluted nonsense, so much strange developments, keeps you on your toes. You're not sure if you wanna laugh or be disgusted or cry. Huge things happen for no reason. Brother kill brother from incest, sister buries corps, then is buried with it, then her fiancee too...

Are there any channels, people, or subjects on YouTube, you've enjoyed in the past or present, if so why?

That's an odd question. I don't watch a lot of Youtube. I generally watch tech reviews, funny clips, DIY videos, news shorts, economic reports, academic lectures...etc.

What periods and regions, did your school focus on, during your education? Did any of them stand out to you, if so why?

I learned History myself. School is a scam. School does not teach history, it teaches narrative. It teaches you what to think, not how to think properly. I'm never sending my kids to school.
