Names changes are unnecessary and can be confusing. Currently, if you want to change your name, the only way I know to do that would be to create a new account and have your old/current one banned.

As long as you enjoy what you do here, it's enough. This site isn't just for people who want to do serious debating. People with a wide range of interests and activity levels can find a space here to do things they enjoy. And no this ain't cause of some mental health shit or me being over worked, it's cuz I fucking don't do any shit in this site except for rapping, and for a site called "debateart" I don't think that's enough.

Obviously they own those things. They tend to have smaller, more efficient versions of those things, however. AC, dryers, and dishwashers are the things that tend to be seen as the most unnecessary. There is just the sense over there that those things are luxuries, because they're comfort items. But worse than that, they're comfort items which run in the background. They're not really "fun." Germans would much rather spend on their car than by an AC system.

I'd say that being stuck in a house without cooling during the summer
You've never lived in Europe have you? Even when you can afford an AC, most Europeans don't buy them. There is a culture of frugality there that doesn't exist over here--appliances in Germany are seen as luxuries, not necessities, and so even when you can afford them, it's seen as snobbish to buy them. Most Europeans--and that includes pretty much every European country--do not have majority AC ownership. It's not a pretty big problem.
And, as I said, the issue you're raising is pretty small and fails to weigh heavily on the question of overall quality of life. I'd be happy to debate you on it, however.

They have lower average monthly incomes and less purchasing power.
That is again an incredibly bad metric to use. Germans may have less purchasing power in a vacuum, but that's not really why we care about purchasing power. We care about purchasing power, as consumers, because we want to know that we can use our money to buy the things we want and need in the volumes we need and want them. In Germany, because there are more social services and benefits, there are fewer costs that Germans need to pay for out of their monthly income, and so they may still have more money, after paying for necessities, to buy the things they want than American consumers.

Energy poverty is an eminently fixable issue that doesn't significantly impact the vast majority of German's quality of life. Pointing to that particular problem is not a good indicator of whether life for Germans is on balance better or worse than life for Americans.

The data I am aware of does not support that. Among rich countries, the US ranks second highest in terms of poverty, behind only Israel. The problem with the data you're using is that it does not employ a standard definition of "poverty" across countries.
Besides, Germany's poor are far better off than the poor in the US, because they have access to a wider array of public services and social benefits to offset their income deficiencies.

Mike is above our law no matter what you say or do.
This has never come up, and it would certainly place me in an awkward position if it ever did. Much like Boris Johnson lying to the Queen, it would precipitate a constitutional crisis. But I would certainly be willing to temp-ban Mike for a few days if it were required. If he prevented me from taking such an action, I would resign in protest, and publicly state precisely why I resigned.
Unfortunately, anything other than 1-5 day temp bans would be out of the question, just because site maintenance would need to be done, and Mike would need to be online to do that. But there would/should still be some consequence, and no user, however high up on the food chain, should be totally immune from punishment.
But, happily, I trust Mike not to put me in that kind of situation, and he has so far done as good a job as any at following site rules and standards.

If one of my comments is reported, the report is forwarded to Castin in her capacity as Assistant Moderator for Special Cases. She would then evaluate the report and reach a decision, and I would abide by her decision, whatever that happened to be. No one can be, or be seen as being, above the law, so to speak.

Have you ever been to Germany? I lived there for more than 7 years, and I can tell you, the quality of life there is higher than it is here.

Actually, many people find my "impeccable grammar" to be cold and hyper-formal. Partly, I try to be professional and distant in my communications because my job as moderator requires professionalism and impartiality. Partly, I am naturally formal, verbose, and careful in the way I write and speak (unless I am joking around or feeling particularly gay and/or flirty).

No, she looks good. The grey streak is EVERYTHING...Besides, I would never vote for or against someone on the basis of their appearance. My objection to her is rooted in the fact that I don't believe her evolution from conservative to liberal was authentic. This article does a good job of discussing that transition. I don't trust her to be anything but a noninterventionist moderate on all issues except healthcare, and that's not really what I want. At that point, I might as just well vote for a noninterventionist moderate like Huntsman or Kasich, who has much more experience in government than she does. A Gabbard vs. Huntsman campaign would really challenge me, and I am not sure how I would vote.
I will vote for Biden, not because he is my first or second or third choice, but because Trump is so utterly atrocious that pretty much anyone would be a better alternative.

No ban I have given has been amusing. Some have been peculiar, like with Nd2; I was never sure why he made all those accounts. But no, I've never found any ban funny in a hilarious sense.

He is too right-wing for me, and he has no chance of winning. Literally, the only Republicans who have recently run for President and who I could consider voting for in a Presidential election are Jon Huntsman and John Kasich. And I would only vote for them if I had significant issues with the Democratic nominee. For example, if the Democrats nominated someone like Tulsi Gabbard, I might actually vote for someone like Huntsman or Kasich. Otherwise, probably not.
