People say America is built on stolen land

@Savant
I mean, it's true. You can do that.
Yes, even when he twists one’s words (which is almost all of the time), the strawman is STILL an undeniable truism in this case.

The native peoples of this continent (and it’s not the only one) had intertribal battles over land and resources. There is also evidence that the native peoples of recent history took land from even earlier inhabitants in much more distant history.

So, how IS land owned? There’s a song which lays out the concept quite simply. It is titled “This Land Is My Land”:

This land is my land
It isn’t your land
I’ve got a shotgun
And you don’t got one
I’ll blow your head off
If you don’t get off

This land is private property.

There’s also another universally recognized rule:  once within sight of a certain spot, the first person to call “Shotgun!” gets to sit in the front seat of that land.

I guess you could say that native americans back then had no recognized law regarding land ownership, but that is still because the US did not recognize their land ownerships.
Doesn’t this sound a bit circular to you? “Land belongs to a group when other groups recognize that the land belongs to that group.”

It seems that you simultaneously maintain the opposite: “Land belongs to a certain group even when another group neglects to recognize its ownership.” This is merely a meaningless assertion.

34 Felony Counts Guilty
It appears that President Biden has already commented on the verdict:

“Biden acknowledged that the verdict in the trial “will leave many Americans feeling angry and concerned, myself included.” He said that everyone “must acknowledge that the jury has spoken.””

Wow, that is a surprising response! Oh, wait… that was Biden’s take on the Rittenhouse “not guilty” verdict from years ago. Hopefully, he chooses his response more carefully on this one— no response at all would be ideal for his sake.

I probably have a funny nickname for you
Ok guys, I simply have too many nicknames to go to waste. So… due to a distinct lack of popular demand, I’m doing a total nickname dump:

Why I don't believe Israel is committing a genocide
-->
@TheUnderdog
That’s a fair point— the UN does not seem to specify numbers at all. It seems to be simply assumed that a genocide involves large numbers because of the intent to eliminate (or severely reduce the population of) a people group. The point I’m making is that intent is key here. Is it Israel’s intent to wipe out the Palestinian people? I think not because:

A. Israel could have wiped them out long before now
B. Israel’s intent is to get back hostages
C. Israel’s intent is to neutralize the threat posed by Hamas
D. Hamas could stop this alleged genocide if they so desired
E. Hamas uses the human shield strategy
F. This is in direct response to the actions of Hamas on October 7

Why I don't believe Israel is committing a genocide
In 1948, the United Nations Genocide Convention defined genocide as any of five "acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group". These five acts were: killing members of the group, causing them serious bodily or mental harm, imposing living conditions intended to destroy the group, preventing births, and forcibly transferring children out of the group. Victims are targeted because of their real or perceived membership of a group, not randomly.[1][2]

But don’t let this stop ya’ll from merely speculating what the word means and what might constitute a real life example of it…

A Republican is one who looks at Mount Rushmore and sees it as a monument to historic leaders who are worthy of respect. A Democrat looks at Mount Rushmore and sees a white supremacist monument built upon stolen land.

Not familiar with Alex O’Connor. What are his bonafides, his “claim to fame”? I watched a debate between William Lane Craig and Sean Carroll and came away very impressed with Carroll, for what it’s worth. And he seems like a genuinely nice guy.

It is interesting (if not disturbing) to note that “whiteness” is the only racial identity or construct which is universally examined in a negative light by academia:

If you look at the accompanying intersectionality chart, good spelling is presumably an aspect of whiteness (and therefor something not to be highly valued or emphasized).

Anyone that thinks white people shouldn't say the N word, don't be a hypocrite
Various words and deeds which are generally deemed offensive are nonetheless protected speech under the 1st Amendment— protected from governmental punishment, that is. However, the national zeitgeist is such that an offender will get fired from their job for one type of offensive speech but not another type:

“While I personally would not have engaged in an action that I feel is hurtful to people I respect, it would be wrong to retaliate against anyone for actions that are fully legal and protected under the First Amendment of our Constitution — our 'free speech' amendment," Weissmiller wrote in the post.

Perhaps the difference is if the act is committed at work or outside of work?

I probably have a funny nickname for you
Back when I was flight instructing, I had a few annoying and tedious students whom I would frequently vent about to my roommates after a long day. So that my roommates would immediately know which one I was talking about, I gave them unique nicknames, and— viola!— instant recognition. One was a guy in his 60’s but going on his 80’s in demeanor, appearance, and overall health, he liked to drone on about arcane subjects but disliked listening to anyone else, he would burp a lot, and do back stretches on the floor without warning— a real odd bod. As he was also blind in one eye, I dubbed him “Old One Eye”— as one might jokingly call an animal when one is always seeing it from the rear when riding on a carriage; get it?

Another was a young man who had tragically lost his legs to a rare infection. A tough break, indeed, but he was also annoyingly cocky, held kooky conspiracy theory and religious beliefs, and just kind of creeped everybody out with his demeanor and penetrating, almost vampire like grey eyes. The Lord of the Rings movies were all the rage at the time, so I dubbed him “Legolas.” Get it?

Finally, there was a woman from Japan, anywhere from 28 to 38 years old. Intelligent and pleasant, she was also, without a doubt, THE weakest student I ever had— just no natural ability or instincts whatsoever. Whenever I vented about her, guys would just hear the “young Japanese woman” part and inevitably ask, “Is she a hottie?” I would always respond, “No, she’s not a hottie.” Hmm— Not-a-hottie— sounds sort of like a Japanese name— Nottahotti it was! These nicknames all stuck, and thereafter my roommates would constantly ask if I had any more funny stories to tell about these three.

Fast forward to the here and now— this site is basically a troll farm now, lacking in true wit and rife with vapid threads, stubborn ignorance, and non-committal, “drive-by” style posts. In light of these manifestations of mediocrity, I have probably given you a moniker of a mocking nature reflecting your online persona better (to me, at least) than your own chosen screen name, assuming you are a frequent enough poster on this intellectual desert of a site.

For example, there is a poster here I call “EverybodyLovesWinning!” How did I arrive at that? It derives from this poster’s current name. Think of the old sitcom “Everybody Loves [comedian’s name].” Then there is a certain, bad boy actor whose notorious, un-self aware boast was simply “Winning!” From there, you should be able to guess who it is.

If you’re curious to know what yours might be, just hit me up!

The lesson is clear: if you are not black and you work for a living, or if you cannot fight like Jackie Chan, you must refrain from using that word, even the slang pronunciation, even if in jest. However, this white woman is an exceptional case:
