This is an interesting idea, but I think the concern about trust is a big one—having plainclothes officers posing as students could make the school environment feel deceptive rather than safe. While supporters argue police presence can improve security, critics also point out it can lead to mistrust and even the criminalization of normal student behavior . Schools should ideally be places where students feel supported, not surveilled. In a similar way to how students perform better with proper guidance, like through TEAS exam tutoring services, a more transparent and supportive approach to safety—such as counseling, mentorship, and visible but approachable staff—might be more effective than undercover enforcement.
