@Buddamoose
(Seriously though don't you speak elvish?)

Is that elvish? Can you understand? I've never seen an elf with black skin, is it undead do you think?

@kindertina
I switch to orcish are you friend or foe?

I spin around and cover the newcomer with my crossbow.
Who are you? Where did you come from? Are you alive?

We're working on it but we are all running on empty. Why didn't I take any damaging cantrips? Mending is so situational. Of course we'll be glad I have it some day.

Also if it doesn't go without saying I stay out of reach of pseudopods.

Cast resistance on Roberts (+d4 to that last save.

(You are accounting for the fire right? I know its nit much per round but I don't remember seeing it rolled the last few rounds and we could use all the help we can get.)

@drafterman
Yeah so after much deliberation, and getting knocked unconscious like three times, I have decided to disengage. If it's possible to fire my crossbow at the same time (even at a disadvantage) I do so, otherwise I wait till next round.

(Short bow d6 crossbow d8 we are potentially one round of good rolls from victory.)

If I can use my inspiration retroactively I use it on my last guided bolt.

Probably backing away from the mound while I'm at it, though my action is the crossbow not disengaging.

Then I guess I just cover Roberts and Snerp with my crossbow while they perform their option drinking dance.

Begin dragging Roberts away from the mound while desperately praying to Zud for just one more spell (overcasting cure wounds if that is a thing in your game and with the understanding that even if it is it will come with certain dangers)

Like a boxer on the ropes I let someone pour a drink into my mouth before going back in the ring. Then another bolt.

With all the retconning I just want to remind you that my next action I'm tossing another bolt.

62 was injured 74 was bloodied. Injured is until 50% ergo 62 was not half but 74 was. The minimum it could be is 2×63=126. 126-74= 52 ergo the least number of hit points still possessed by the beast is 52. Could be more but not more than 74.

Feelings are sufficient enough for some people to believe in relatively outlandish things.
This trick. My feelings have nothing to do with the truth and by acknowledging that I became unable to believe in the absence of evidence.

@Reece
You mean a belief based on utility rather than truth? Of course people have the right to believe anything even if what they believe is not just not observably true but observably not true. I can no longer seem to manage this trick however. Beliefs are not a choice and I cannot simply choose to believe something which I have no sufficient evidence for. You say it comes back to testability, for me it comes back to skepticism.

@Reece
What I have is reasonable expectations based on past experience. If you have sufficient evidence you don't need faith if you don't have sufficient evidence why believe?

It's hard to imagine agreeing with anyone more than that.

@Mopac
If our experience is an accurate reflection of reality then science is the most reliable and practically useful method of separating fact from fiction. If our experience is not an accurate reflection of reality then we don't have any real way of separating fact from fiction. In niether case is there any sufficient evidence that anything is eternal.

@Reece
So if we accept reality at face value as a convenience we must accept also observable facts about our reality on a provisional basis. The best method available to us for accomplishing these observations is the scientific method. Scientific method relies on testability. If reality is real then science is our best shot at discovering truth. We are already preassuming reality so it's best not to preassume anything else. If it is not observably testable true there is no reason to believe even provisionally in any claim.

@Reece
If an illusionary reality is indiscernable from a real one how do we determine whether or not reality is an illusion?
It is convenient to accept reality at face value in order to maximize ones experience but in the end we cannot know.
