So I looked up that definition in Miriam Webster you keep going on about.
It specifically includes infinite mind.
So until it is demonstrated to me that reality has a mind and that anything can be infinite I reject the definition, not as a measure of popular usage, but as an accurate description of reality.

I pictured that going way different in my head at the time
I hope so. If you meant to do that you should be smacked.

How do you make that distinction? Like what is an example of a contingent and an incontinent thing?
Created:

@Mopac
I'm not sure what you mean when you say contingent existence. Do you mean not found in nature?

I see your feeling better. Guess I'm still stuck with you. By the way thanks for blowing us across the room like that.

I keep cure wounds and guiding bolt. I trade sanctuary (which I didn't use) with bless and add detect magic. That way someone in the party has detect magic and identify.

By the way what do you mean by created thing? Like man made?
Created:

@Mopac
So to recap you can't know it but it is self evident, you can't compare it to anything but it is everything and it is what it is but it's not tautalogical.
Am I missing anything?
Created:

@Mopac
Actually "it is what it is" is a textbook tautology.
Youbseem unable to say anything concrete about what you refer to as God. Why is that?

It Is What It Is
Retreating back to a tautology.
If God could be effected by anything else, something would have power over God.
Edging back towards referring to attributes that you have not demonstrated to me that reality possesses.
I have begun to have reasonable expectations about this conversation based on past experience, which is the closest humans can come to certainty about anything.

@drafterman
Looks like I'm facing the shadows more or less by myself. If I can I strike the two closest to me. Can I cast while spirit weapon does it's thing?
Created:

@Mopac
If I could be more specific still I would avoid any statement about what reality does, has, wants or is.
Created:
Posted in:
-->
@Mopac
It could be very simple. Do you believe that reality has attributes like emotions, goals, thoughts or the ability to take independent independent action (as opposed to an inanimate object like a rock that only reacts when acted upon by an outside force)?
It's alright to say yes but then my question becomes why do you believe that and can you demonstrate it.
It is also alright to say no or I don't know but in that case you really shpuld stop making statements that suggest this is the case.
Created:
-->
@Mopac
Sorry but it's our epistemological black hole. We live in there together and niether of us can be certain if anything except tautalogical truths such a whatever exists is real. As for assigning probability to how certain we can be I agree that we cannot accurately make a statement about that and yet you did make precisely such a statement.
you can only be 98% sure of anything.
Remember?
How did you arrive at this figure?
Also you have yet to conclusively address if you believe reality has thought, desires, goals or emotions nor have you addressed why you might believe such a thing if in fact you do.

@Mopac
Saying that the truth is true because it is the truth that the truth is true is a little vague and a lot circular. I do not feel that I have to understand anything or that I could understand everything but if we cannot understand each other than we won't get very far in our conversation and if I understand you correctly you are making a claim that reality has a mind (or whatever you want to call it) that it wants things and feels emotions and pronounces judgements and you have demonstrated none of that.
If my experience with you holds true you will backpedal now until you reach a definition that is tautalogical enough to be difficult to argue with but does not actually reflect your belief that truth is an entity (or being with agency or whatever you want to call it) and then poke back towards the attributes of an entity later once I have agreed that a tautology cannot be argued with.
Would you care to cut through this to your actual beliefs or would you prefer we continue to dance arround the issue? I am open to either possibility on the off chance that one of us actually learn something.
Created:
-->
@Mopac
I have no reason to believe that reality knows things or has thoughts. Would you care to demonstrate that or would you like to ammend your statement?
I have no reason to believe that good and evil are objective rather than opinion based. Would you like to demonstrate that or would you like to ammend your statement?
I am a soft solipsist by the way. What we are experiencing may not be real. It is convenient to accept my senses as a reflection of reality but I'm not sure how you could assign a percentage to how certain about it I can be.
Created:
-->
@Mopac
I'm afraid you can't have it both ways.
Created:
-->
@Mopac
So that's a hard no on answering my question? Also backpedaling on your claim that truth is unknowable into claiming that I know truth from falsehood when I have clearly stated that this is beyond my epistemological limits to say with certainty?

Good and evil are subjective values. Few societies, or even individuals agree on exactly what qualifies.
Also this more or less fails to address my question so allow me to restate it.
If the truth is unknowable how do you tell the truth from falsehood and if you cannot tell them apart how do you gauge which is more beneficial?
