Hello Madman. I thank you for accepting this debate, and I hope for the best. This round will just be a short one, with us both just summarizing what is too come. Follow my words...

Model

If Nasa becomes a waste of money, that in turn will reduce it's popularity. This could lead to Nasa having its budget being cut even more by the government. This would in turn slow Nasa's progress, and eventually it would become overshadowed by leading private companies like SpaceX. Having Nasa being practically "shut down" like this would result it being almost forgotten, lost in the every advancing world of money-making private corporations...

Arguments

1st Argument - Nasa is indirectly linked to the economy

2nd Argument - Nasa helps life on Earth

3rd Argument - Nasa prevents private companies from taking over

And if I have time; 4th Arugment - Nasa extends one of Human's core values

Nasa is indirectly linked to the economy

Nasa is a multi-billion dollar company, and one that supports thousands of jobs. If Nasa saw a decline in it's popularity and therefore job applications, thousands of people would lose yet another job offering. Not to mention all the other indirect companies that work with Nasa, and how they too would be negatively impacted.

Nasa helps life on Earth

With developments like Earth science satellites and extinction protection programs, Nasa is undeniably helping Earth thrive as a whole. Even Buzz Aldrin agreed, saying that Nasa is too focused on helping Earth.

Nasa prevents private companies from taking over

With SpaceX and Blue Origin on the rise, private companies will soon start making billions in profit. Nasa however, if non-profit. I don't want to speak on behalf of everyone about this, but imagine having to pay to read the weather...

Nasa extends one of Human's core values

Curiosity. While this may be less concrete, it is what makes us human. We don't climb Mt. Everest because there's a payoff to do so, it's because we can. We have to explore new horizons, expanding our beliefs, and connecting us as a whole.
