Round 1
Every 4 years, the mundane Olympics are held. A country that hosts the Olympics is responsible for building stadiums and game equipment. To further explain, the Olympics are acclaimed globally, so millions of people visit the country of destination to be entertained. Despite the pros of the Olympics, such as the unison of all five continents being represented in the 5 rings (Olympics Logo), the ways the Olympics can affect the world adversely outweighs the benefits.
The first argument I bring to the stand is the financial drain the hosting country experiences. Aforesaid, the hosting country of the Olympics must build the infrastructure for athletes to compete in. Moreover, the declining reputation of the Olympics has resulted in less financial gain from hosting. Not only does building itself cost an immense amount of money, but also causes homes to be destroyed. When we take the Tokyo Olympics as an example (because I live in Japan, and I know a lot of facts regarding the area), tons of people were forced to move because their house was in the way of building stadiums and such. This embodies the lack of consideration towards such individuals.
I believe Pro has made a good case for keeping the Olympics. Many times people become arrogant and too settled. They think they are fast enough, strong enough and important enough to feel like they are the best.
The Olympics make countries remind their citizens that you are nothing if you cannot adapt. There is someone stronger than you, faster than you more agile than you, richer than you etc.
The Olympics remind you to be humble, shut your mouth and let results do the talking. They remind you that as nice as your culture is, this nations will do an opening ceremony that blows the world away.
Let us never abolish the olympics, let us have this reminder that our nations all can become poor for the sake of stadiums and our abilities all can pale in comparison to the goldedallist who just destroyed the hopes and dreams of the 4th placer that did not get a medal.
We are nothing special, we are animals, biological beings with no deep value beyond what we bring to the table.
If they move us our of our homes, we must adapt and use the generous grants paid to move to a new home.
