Description

Any topic of Islam is open to critique. Please limit to 1-3 main topics that you disagree with. I can give examples like Sharia, Muhammad, Hijab, etc. Put the topic in the comment and ask a question about it. Then the discussion can start.

Use logical arguments and don't use normative, assertive fallacies, or appeals to emotion.

Since Islam is a religion, the assumption is that God exists so we are not debating this topic.

Allah said in Quran that he will let Muhammad (SAW) memorize the Quran and let him(SAW) understand as well. Also another place Allah said follow Allah and follow Rasool. which gives us clear indication that we must follow rasool for the detail of any verse. just like Quran gave us instuction do sajood means prostration and also raku but it does not tell us how to do that which we get from Prophet (SAW). So detail is always given in hadith. After Allah the authority lies within the prophet to guide. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) himself said he do not say anything from himself but from Allah.
its very long topic which cannot be explained in just few messages. But i guess the idea what i am talking about.

Any particular reason you reported your own debate?

@kihayi

"My question is, even though the Qur'an is eternal, why Allah (SWT) aborgated thsese verses? Does this verse make any sense? Can All-Wise god reveal such verses?"

There are 3 types of abrogation: generalization, specialization, and contradiction. Only contradiction is problematic and proves the Quran wrong. There is no problem with the the first 2.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naskh_(tafsir)-> link for abrogation. The link explains the Aisha verse.

I recommend posting the question on r/Muslim for another opinion

Hi, I am a Muslim and I have the following question:

We believe that Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise. What I think is that, replacing one verse with another is humanlike. And, it is not irrational for Non-Muslims to think that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) fabricated verses. Here is a verse from the Quran-

When We replace a verse with another—and Allah knows best what He reveals—they say, “You Muḥammad˺ are just a fabricator.” In fact, most of them do not know. [Quran 16:101]

Even if I agree that Allah (SWT) replace a verse by another, the previous one should have to be a good, logical one. Here is what confuses me-

Amra reported that she heard Aisha discussing fosterage which (makes marriage) unlawful; and she (Aisha) said: There was revealed in the Holy Qur'an ten clear sucklings, and then five clear (sucklings). [Sahih Muslim 1452b]

Umm Fadl reported that Allah's Apostle said: Being suckled once or twice, or one suckling or two, do not make marriage unlawful. [Sahih Muslim 1451c]

As Sahih Muslim is considered to be 100% authentic, there is no way this hadith is weak. Now, if this hadith is authentic, that means these verses were revealed. My question is, even though the Qur'an is eternal, why Allah (SWT) aborgated thsese verses? Does this verse make any sense? Can All-Wise god reveal such verses?

Now, some people say that this hadith is weak. And, if this hadith is weak, there is no way we can believe the other hadith from Sahih Muslim!

This is a question that is confusing me. I hope you will give me a good logical answer.

@Mall

Most of what you said is not even necessary to the discussion. Please keep it short. Quoting random bible verses that have nothing to do with the argument does not help. Thanks

@aql_reason

I look forward to engaging you

@aql_reason

Ok I made the debate.

-->
@Morphinekid77

Ok the 2 weeks is fine.

-->
@Morphinekid77

Sure. Do you know how to make a debate? Since you are the instigator, you have to start it. A few things
- Make the word count at least 10,000 and the timeline 1 week.

-->
@aql_reason

Since you're in the middle of a debate right now I'll make the time of the debate two weeks to post to give us both time

-->
@aql_reason

Ok how about "Jesus was morally superior to Mohammed"?

-->
@Morphinekid77

Since you were the one to ping me, start the debate and defend your position.

-->
@Morphinekid77

"Tauhid vs Trinity"
- Since I'm already discussing that, lets skip for now
"Muhammad vs Jesus"
- Sure
"Quran vs Bible"
- Too broad and covers too many topics.

Muhamad vs Jesus is good.

-->
@aql_reason

Tauhid vs Trinity

Mohammed vs Jesus

Quran vs Bible?

-->
@Morphinekid77

I don't really have a topic in mind. List a few topics and lets reach an agreement.

-->
@aql_reason

Hey you want to debate Islam/Christianity with me? You can pick the topic/rules.

-->
@Mall

"It could be that God can do possible things, but we can't use logic to argue this." - I made a typo here. the word is not "possible" but impossible.

-->
@Mall

I believe we both accept the 2nd claim so we don't have to discuss it. Also for the first point I made, how does Christianity answer the question: how can God be both the creator and created? Is that not contradictory?

Virgin birth is the birth of Jesus without a natural father although he is or was called the son of David.

Topics: 1. Jesus being God in the flesh/divine Son of God

2. The virgin Mary/Virgin birth

3. The death/resurrection of Christ from crucifixion.
