Description

=Rules=
First round: Acceptance ONLY
Second round: Opening arguments
Third Round: Rebuttals
Fourth round: Defense of arguments and conclusion

For the purpose of this debate, the BoP is shared between the two opponents since no resolution is being claimed / purported within the title. Semantics is going to be ruled out, since definitions are written in the description (i.e. no further definitions are allowed in the acceptance round). Forfeiture would cause an automatic loss, there should be enough time to post an argument within a two day period.

=Description=
The refugee influx of 2015 has been a widely, seriously debated topic since the years of its beginning. In this particular debate, I would like to debate the benefits of relieving certain border control policies being put in action by many, key European states (e.g. Austria, Italy, Greece, Germany, etc.). What this debate isn't about, however, is enacting open-borders for foreign nationals (non-Schengan nationals). The purpose of this debate is to discuss the new laws and regulations being enacted and hardened to prevent refugees from entering European soil, through the use of physical and legal means.

=Definitions=
1. European Union: "The European Union is a group of 28 countries that operates as a cohesive economic and political block. Nineteen of the countries use the euro as their official currency. The EU grew out of a desire to form a single European political entity to end the centuries of warfare among European countries that culminated with World War II and decimated much of the continent. The European Single Market was established by 12 countries in 1993 to ensure the so-called four freedoms: the movement of goods, services, people and money" (1).
2. Border control: "are measures taken by a country or a bloc of countries to regulate and monitor its borders. They are put in place to regulate the movement of people, animals and goods into as well as out of a country" (2).
3. Refugee: "A refugee is someone who has been forced to flee his or her country because of persecution, war or violence. A refugee has a well-founded fear of persecution for reasons of race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a particular social group" (3).
4. Asylum seeker: "An asylum-seeker is someone whose request for sanctuary has yet to be processed. Every year, around one million people seek asylum" (4).
