"Do as I say or I will hurt you"

This is official Christian definition of love now.

What is the Golden Rule in Matthew 7:12?
Golden Rule, precept in the Gospel of Matthew (7:12): “In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you. . . .” This rule of conduct is a summary of the Christian's duty to his neighbour and states a fundamental ethical principle.

Thats what happens when you try to change definition of love into "obey or be punished".

Yes, but Christians have perverted Christianity. They imagine God as a psychopathic dictator who tortures anyone who disobeys him. Really, they learned basically nothing from Jesus's actions.

Apart from affirming the Papacy, the culture is a perfect mix of both tradition, some superstition, and wonder which seperates it from the extremes of African voodoo and Protestantism

You are not welcome in this thread.
Not for you to say Mein Fuhrer.

You revile dictators, and then proceed to dictate.

If you cannot tolerate satirical criticism, then perhaps you are suited to such discussions.

Maybe a nice bible class, with a hot drink and a biscuit would be more suitable.

Tradition, superstition and wonder.
Yep...Just about sums up every deistic, theistic, paganistic creation and existence idea that was ever made up. Doc.

And extreme is as extreme does...I've even seen numpties climbing mountains in Ireland on their hands and knees...D'oh.

If there was an Omni-sensible GOD, I'm sure he would tell them not to be so stupid.

Most convincing argument for Catholicism: any church without valid sacraments is automatically 0/10 and
Help me understand, what makes a sacrament "valid", and can you give an example of a sacrament that is not valid?

only the catholic church has verified eucharistic miracles.
How are eucharistic miracles "verified"?

Although they aren't 100% proven they have the most evidence that their sacraments are real.
Can you give an example of evidence that a sacrament is real, and perhaps explain the difference between a "real" sacrament and one that isn't real?

You come to a Christian denom thread solely to say be atheist multiple times. It does not even make sense.

Even if you wanted to make us be atheist, the angle makes no sense to convince hs.

We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if mankind is to survive (Albert

Sacraments are real when the eucharist actually has Jesus in it and baptism actually has salvific power, and if you define other things as sacraments (as catholics do) that these also are binding and efficacious.

Eucharistic miracles can be verified by analysis in labs.

there is no sex in heaven.
From whence that notion? Who said there is no sex relations in heaven? In that regard, Islam has the better doctrine,; they're just a bit confused because virgins still need to be left alone until they marry. There is a way for that to happen. I believe the Catholics reject that possibility [I could be wrong - anyone, pls advise].  All things good and proper have a means of accomplishment, I believe without limit. There, we also can have children and raise them. What do we think after all, is our purpose in calling God "Heavenly Father? Because he isn't regally? Nonsense. We are literal children of God. And a Mother, too.

Whether there are sacramental miracles or not, there is no purpose to denying the effectiveness of that ordinance to return our thoughts to Christ.

Einstein is correct. What he didn't see is that the "manner of thinking" is hardly an unknown. It's called "The Sermon on the Mount," and it is, by those words alone, among other things, the most perfect socio-political platform ever given. By following its precepts, completely, we would solve every single social failure we currently suffer. We would achieve, in one generation, Jimmy Madison's dream: "...a more perfect union," let alone that of Jesus Christ: "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father in Heaven is perfect."  By the way, that commentary is smack in the middle of the Sermon [end of Matthew 5] Maybe we ought to take it seriously instead of just talking about what nice words the beatitudes are. They're only two thousand years old. Has any better advice ever come along?

I come to a religion forum, and question the logic of the MANGOD hypothesis.

You come and discuss the comparative trivia of differing theistic organisations...Who wears the best hat and gown sort of thing.

It's the way it goes.

You have recently chosen to join a religious club and wear a badge...Which is no different to me joining a cycle club and wearing the jersey.

Whether or not you want to join my cycle club, is of no interest to me.

Though we both enjoy the freedom to trade ideas on religious and other forums.

And I'm guessing from your unease, that my comments actually scratch an itch of uncertainty.

You are taking matters of faith and claiming they are not matters of faith, they are matters of evidence, but the so-called "evidence" is also a matter of faith.

God is not another fact that we can record and document, you can’t reduce religion to some sort of argumentative and speculative science, the believer does not want an inferred God.  Religious faith is a matter of expressing a dimension of being which can only be apprehended by a specific form of human sensibility.  Consequently. It is a personal affair, it is about an inner reality that can be experienced, not an outer reality that can be supported by scientific evidence.

The God whom our minds can penetrate and whom our thoughts can circumnavigate is merely a finite and partial image of God. The various images of the divine can represent a genuine encounter with the divine reality, but none by itself fully and exhaustively corresponding to the infinite nature of the ultimate reality.

It diminishes God to even think that human beings could devise a single doctrine that could exhaust the possibilities of expressing the truth of God, on the contrary, what it expresses is a blasphemous desire to “possess” God rather than the proper desire to be possessed by God.  I understand why a complete and total commitment to a Church and her doctrines is necessary, but when that commitment transforms into a belief that a single Church is in sole possession of the truth in a complete and definitive way it is guilty of idolatry.

It is more akin to joining a gang. A lifelong gang that I swore an oath to and abide by rules of.

Yes. 100%.

It is the New covenant and unites gentile with Jew. Father Yhwh will understand you submitting to Son Yywh and HS of Yhwh along with him.

It is a Judaism sin to even be attending a Church rather than Synagogue. Welcome to the Catholic faith. 🙏✝️

From the description of heaven, there is no any fun there.
If so, then why has Jesus delayed his return to earth?

If I did become Christian, I believe my first choice would be Eastern Orthodox. There are certainly great arguments against this decision, but I believe it’s easier to defend.
The history of it versus catholics is truly very interesting in my opinion.

This is a complete bias though, I admit.

I would. The motivation is certainly compelling.

My main obstacle however isn’t I haven’t devoted enough time to studying the other religions.
