Why are so many users forfeiting debates without any explanation?
Why make an account if your not gonna even use it?

It makes me frustrated and annoyed that nearly one third of the debates are just full forfeiture.
Please either do the debate or don’t join at all you motherfucking idiots.

Bottom line. Retention rate sucks because most of the people here suck. It's a retention issue and tons of quality people have been driven off the site back before whiteflame was mod. Whiteflame literally and single handedly stopped the bleeding, but perhaps too late. I think the way to increase retention now is to get rid of nuisance posters and then we will be fine but there is a fear among mods that the nuisance posters are the only reason for activity being so high

Well, yeah, 70% of people on this site have autism and are fussy.

Maybe this site design only attracts people with autism.

Put a minimum elo requirement on your debates or specifically challenge users who don't forfeit.

People are less likely to forfeit in rated debates.
They are more likely to pay attention when they are staking their elo.

People forfeited all the time when every debate affected elo. It's more that the type of people who forfeit tend to start one debate and then leave, so they never qualify to do rated debates.

Yes but it still doesn’t answer the question: why make an account when you know you won’t even participate on the debate?

People don’t plan that far ahead. The forfeitures aren’t a product of design.

People create an account with the intention of debating, but their commitment to it can falter due to a variety of factors.: They lose interest, IRL is too busy, or they forget.

DART is really just an infinite time-loop platform where if you forfeit a debate, you can always keep starting over, and do it right the next time. Or the next time after that.
Priority and time management seems to be the major factor.

Typically many new individuals with no true commitment, that's all .

Just passing through. Just looking, window shopping.

Maybe seeing a bunch of racist degenerates and abuse on the regular drives many away.

Maybe it is the pedo apologism that was allowed.

Lots of maybes. 0 solutions.

I have a good solution, clean it all up.

You are problem, not solution.
