Since Rand Paul attacked trump's scheduled parade, claiming that America had a different "image" (even though we've always had military parades), WHAT is the image that we need instead?  What is so bad about a military parade, I am genuinely baffled.

He brought up Russia and North Korea but the only reason why military parades are associated with those countries in the first place is because we stopped doing it. It's like telling a white kid to quit playing basketball because it's a "black sport".

The libertarian wing of the party are composed entirely of boring losers with no creative vision in life. If you are upset at national events because of "muh fiscal conservatism!" you are just a COMPLETE loser and you need you can leave the party.

One more thing: This is a textbook example of the longhouse and its male losers who enforce it in action. A military parade is unequivocally cool for most boys, but we literally cannot have anything that would inspire them in this country anymore.

Libertarians have always been naive when it comes to grand strategy and libertarianism in general just has no ideal how to deal with hostile ideologies other than to just lay down and lose. The Koch brothers have pointed this out when criticized by fellow libertarians for using strategy so we don't completely become liberal like venezuela or North Korea

Dr.Franklin, I do not care whether or not we have military parades. This is a non-issue to me. Saying this as a libertarian.

Wylted, we do have solutions.

1. Don’t let communists into the country. Physical removal of illegal immigrants is good as well.
2. End govt subsidies for DEI/ESG consulting firms. Yes, our governments are giving the woke left funding.
3. Repeal Section 7 of the Civil Rights Act, aka Disparate Impact Theory. The woke left has been able to use S7 as a legal nailbat for decades.

For those unaware: Disparate impact theory is the idea that discrimination against protected classes (the class that is experiencing alleged discrimination) can be detected by examining the outcomes of Group A and Group B in an industry, or consumer base, etc. If one group has a worse result, it is implied they are being discriminated against.

The problem with theory is it takes equal outcomes as a given in a situation without discrimination, which implies that both groups are always making the same choice. In reality, different groups will have different ideas and therefore make different choices on average, resulting in some groups performing better than others. Because of this, reasoning based on this theory will always ignore factors that are not discrimination.

The result of this is that a DEI consulting firm can go over to a company and say “X policy is discriminatory based on not having an equitable result, you need to hire our services to protect you from such a legal risk.”… of course, the quiet part is that the consulting firm is the party most likely to file a anti-discrimination lawsuit against the company. It’s a form of legal extortion; we enable it with our laws, and subsidize the extorters with our taxpayer dollars.

Because of it, many companies end up adopting DEI policies, and hiring DEI officers to manage them… which furthers the spread of woke ideology. For media outlets, it results in the hiring of woke hacks that report in favor of progressive politics. For universities, it’s woke hacks who hammer progressive ideology into their students. For other organizations, it results in consistent woke messaging in both products and advertising.

Weaken the legs of what’s caused woke ideology to spread, and it’ll eventually fall. Off-topic from the thread, but there’s the solution.

I've never liked parades all that 'much, often seems a waste of money.

Also, just passed you on the leaderboard for votes on debates.

I fail to see the importance of "America's image". What is important here is that the taxpayers' money is used to put on an unnecessary show. The military people and tech that was showing off in the DC could have been doing something useful instead - if nothing else, to patrol some hot region in the Middle East. But the guy in the White House wanted to be entertained, and everyone knows that Donny gets very-very upset when the mommy does not give him the candy he craves.

The whole Civil Rights Act should be repealed, if you ask me. Forcing a business owner to associate with the people he dislikes is the economical equivalent of forcing a woman to have sex with the men she dislikes.

The government should not be in the business of enforcing moral values. It should, at most, protect people's rights, and the Act very clearly infringes on those.
