Causes people, normal people, like variety and like to meet new people. Internet is changin all over. Less restrictions, more freedom - a nigga can say what he want. This site already losin from a munbers perspective. You think you gunna thrive if you clamp down when all them other sites are loosenin up? I want new people, period. Just saying I don't want to miss out on any valuable newcomers because of a misunderstanding that I hadn't considered. More users should be one of our highest priorities.

No. It can definitely backfire.

If we get more forum sh##posters instead of more actual dedicated debaters, it backfires and disgusts or erodes away the passion and joy.

You have to beg for a vote. Your debates are so scary as you put all that effort in for 0 outcome often. We need to get less of the wylteds and more of the Lancelots. Then we can handle taming the Lancelots later.

Agnostic atheist, with a casual interest in discussing theology and religion.

Frankly, we can't afford to be choosy. The site is a slowly evaporating puddle as it is.

The name definitely needs to be changed at some point. Once I told I friend to "check out a site called DebateArt." To this they responded that they weren't an art person. (True story) 

I don't personally have a preference as to what it's changed to, as long as it's clear.

Yes. A simple rebrand would actually accomplish a lot. Suggestions like these are already 2 steps ahead.
Changing too much at once risks destroying the site because it's curbing the population to an already dying platform while the CoC is sufficient as it is. Just a simple revision here and there, and it would be perfect. 

A site that appeals to a more mainstream audience, which I see as the ultimate middleground between censorship and freedom of speech. 
With controversial subjects being allowed, but a strict ban on anything taboo or illegal. 

The inspiration I'm thinking of is 50% how disney markets its branding, minus the politicization and bias of the left.

That's what I have in mind too. A platform for adults, but with disney-style moderating.
By disney, I mean they have a very effective style of censorship that is super-competent at censoring anything that could be too dark, taboo, or offensive. 

There's valid criticisms of the censorship being too extreme, but they are very in touch with the times and the modernization.

I don't understand those advocating for morality or word policing here. David literally already tried that and saw both the number of members on the site drop by 80% and the quality of the debaters also declined to best Korea level

You're an extremophile who thrives on controversy. Overpolicing would destroy your natural habitat. Others are more sensitive, would like more oversight and a feeling of order/safety, and laissez-faire policy would destroy their natural habitat. We're just fighting over the thermostat.

Did site attendance really drop that far? Someone help me out with some solid info here.

It did drop that far. You were here with BSH1 and saw how active and superior debaters were. Do you not remember?

And as far as debaters are concerned it's hard to have good debates on a very narrow range of acceptable opinions. We also miss the opportunity to deradicalize people if they are chased off the site before they have time to get their premises destroyed.

I did also offer a fair compromise by suggesting word filters. So that way we are protecting those sensitive to certain words while also not jeapordizing our ranking on google

Word filters also do not count as an attack on free speech unless you get more ridiculous with it than I am anticipating is likely. So any topic could be debated but you would have to choose your words wisely

Its still very low. Hes wrong. It was only better than because you had more addicts like ramshutu voting regularly.

This site is a waateland, be acts as it if improved over time, it didnt. The revolution I pushed for years ago is finally coming.
