Superman, the illegal immingrant

Maybe this is the last thread I open since I heard this forum is going to be closed foreva.

There is a video that drew my attention, it's about James Gunn's view on his new film, Superman. He says Superman represents the illegal immigrant because although he entered the US ilegally, he's doing his best to adapt.

What's your take on it? Is this another woke shit that you're not going to watch?

7 seconds in, I decide it is Woke, and clicked out.

But then, I don't really 'watch Superman TV shows or movies much anyway.

I saw the Christopher Reeve Superman movies, I remember liking Zod.

Watched Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, It was alright, though a bit silly at times, as long running TV shows can be.

Watched Smallville, I did 'not like Smallville, it had 'potential and some 'moments, but I 'just don't like Soap Operas, ooh this persons feelings are hurt, ooh this persons betraying that person, now they're friends again, now enemies, ooh angst and secrets. Plot by the seat of one's pants.

Probably wouldn't have watched 'any Superman, if I wasn't trying to bond with my Dad some by sharing an interest of his.

I nearly saw it earlier tonight, but I’ll have to wait a couple days… I’ve been looking forward to this one, because I like superhero movies, and James Gunn’s work on them has been phenomenal.

But sure, if the principles on which America was founded are now woke garbage, I’ll unapologetically go watch said woke garbage.

Shouldn't Trump deport anyone related to the Pilgrims?

Oh that is my biggest hope for the movie! With Nicholas Hoult playing Lex Luthor, they have an opportunity to have him portrayed as if the unappreciated hero, instead of the usual cheesy ham sandwich.

My favorite issues of the comic are like that. We as the omnipresent reader know he’s in the wrong, but he’s trying to save his world from an alien demigod whom others are happy to rely on without question.

The comic series Invincible IMO is largely an intelligent take on what if Lex Luthor was right. Of course, there’s irony in the fact that were Lex standing up to  Omni-Man, he would not have lived to stand up to him twice (okay, maybe twice, but certainly not any more before an asteroid took out his building or some other tragic accident occurred).

Superman illegally entering a country and the government flipping out about that is hilarious to me. Put that on Saturday Night Live cause that is too funny. 

He’s basically a god that is omnipotent, and the people of earth are complaining about him flying into their country without a passport 😂

Smallville was nice, at least when I was a teen. I have good memories of it each time I listen to the intro "save me", I think many people do. But well, maybe you have a different taste.

They already did a movie about that with Keaneau Reeves as the alien.

Well, I'm not so sure if it's woke garbage like Disney movies. At least, this Superman is not black, neither a LGBT character.

Maybe it ends up being a good movie like the Superman of Christopher Reeve.

Assuming you meant the Donner ones? They were remarkable. Also really weird how long it took for a movie like The Flash to be made, which explored the biggest problem with those movies (time travel).

I am not going to count the theatrical cuts Superman II—IV.
