That was the topic today. I received agreement that it doesn't predominantly exist at all .
What is there really to fear outside of a predator situation?

I can understand pedophobia being the same.

Do heterophobes exist?

Is heterophobia likened unto anorexia?

I can strongly dislike something and have no fear of it .

Like many of you towards me and cower, right. No ...no ..you don't do that. You ain't scared.

  • You're making the etymological fallacy. We use "phobic" to describe all kinds of things that don't mean precisely "afraid of." We call Teflon hydrophobic. Homophobia and transphobia and whatnot often just describe intolerance.
  • Even in its strict etymological sense, the word is still valid. Maybe people aren't afraid of gay people anymore (there was a time they were) but they're definitely still afraid of appearing gay, or of their kids appearing gay, or of their friends and associates appearing gay. 
Do heterophobes exist?
Go post a hetero fanfic on a yuri-only or yaoi-only webpage and see for yourself.
