@bsh1
Would it be okay to clarify:

A spam debate would be an obvious commercial advertisement, or one of a set of multiple debates that appear to be solely created in order to flood the system with new debates rather than legitimate attempt to engage in debates?

I think its worthwhile pointing out debates should only be removed when it’s obviously spam or an attempt to flood the system with multiple debates a- rather than an odd debate here and there.

I think that spam threads should be prohibited.

Debates with banned users should definitely not be permitted. They give super easy wins to some people who skyrocket in the leaderboards. This then undermines the leaderboard of any real meaning.(I'm looking at you RM)

@Polytheist-Witch
You should respect DDO’s culture. Without it, this site may not be the last haven for debating as it is today.

Who were the first to join the site? DDO users.
Who still makes up most of the site’s active base? DDO users.
Who gave this site its culture simply by carrying over their culture? DDO users.

These administrative notifications are literally worse than DDO spambots.

  1. Yes,
  2. Yes,
  3. Yes, and
  4. Yes.
As a reminder, giving admins permission to act against these problems, does not mean they will act against everything resembling them. Like with votes, borderline are noted as such, but left in place. So Mafia threads while resembling spam threads, should be unaffected.

1. Does this mean I can't tell a story about my mother assaulting a claw machine at the arcade in 1997, spitting invectives like "give me my daughter's fucking toy" and "tear you apart you goddamn cheatie piece of shit."

4. I really don't think any information on a ban log should be on permanent display, even permabanned users. The log should be for people to whom this is recent and relevant information. Nothing needs to be up there longer than a matter of months.

The MEEP voting period has now since closed. I will be double-checking the vote count to ensure there are no inaccuracies, and then I will be declaring the results. Please be patient.

Results

Out of 20 votes, the binding threshold for a MEEP is 12-8, while out of 22 votes, the binding threshold for a MEEP is 13-8. As such, all of the referendum questions have passed. Implementation of these new policies will be effectuated when the Code of Conduct and Extended Moderation Policies documents have been updated to reflect the changes.

Thank you again to all who have participated. As always, it was good to get the community's feedback on these important issues, and we hope this overhaul of the voting policies will foster more robust and honest voting practices in the future. This MEEP will be switched to read-only sometime within the next 24 hours.

It was never going to be especially great to begin with, and will die soon if it hasn't already. (Not speaking about the MEEP in particular)

Yeah maybe but I still don't think it will ever be a great site.

If I am wrong then that would be nice.
