While I am working on the debates listing page, I am wondering if maybe somebody has some ideas or suggestions what you would like to see there?

Maybe the best debates of all time?

Those "quality debates" are already something like that, maybe not the best though, but decent enough haha

    lol

Or maybe something like, "Debates which require votes."

That would help direct voters to the debates which need them the most and would be much more efficient than the current forum thread we have.

Yeah, it's already kinda there, as RM pointed out. Given, not the most obvious way but oh well.

Good point, but like DebateArt.com said, it's not entirely obvious.

Having a debate list specifically for this would still direct attention to it better than the sorting category.

I think maybe you shouldn't count comments as updates. Maybe I just visited the 2nd debate of all time on this site, and then it is on the top of the recent updated chart.

Well, the fact that adding a new comment is considered to be an update is fine, in my opinion. I think what you are talking about is the sorting method, which, by default, is the last update timestamp, so the most recently updated debates go to the top and we could easily change that to the publication date timestamp, but it's hard to say if that's gonna be better. Let's ask some people about it.

Well I am not so sure. You are the boss here so I am most likely trusting you. I am not saying it is wrong, I just don't really like it but I am still pretty fine with it.

Well, that's why I appreciate any feedback and frankly, I can easily miss a lot of things and in fact, I did many times in the past, and then the other users helped me to find and fix them. So please never have doubts to let me know about anything that you think can be improved.

Going to second Press on this. A "Needs Votes" piece on the right could be useful.

Probably anything tied which has under a week remaining, organized by least time remaining. ... There are other ways it could be done, as a fallback when zero debates fit that criteria.

A benefit (and occasionally a hindrance) of comments bumping debates on the default list, is just that.

It's a way people can opt to draw attention to one in need of attention, over say a cluster of FF debates. Plus if a debate is being talked about a bunch, it might be a conversation worth checking out... Obvious downside is a debate with say 1000 comments, is probably a lot of really circular dialog there.
