I can certainly understand the desire for an origin story for Satan. Without one, you have a rather large unanswered question. Where did the greatest evil of all time come from?

The evolution of Satan through the centuries is pretty fascinating. "Greatest evil of all time" isn't really an accurate description of how he's always been thought of throughout the world.

Note that pride is the deadliest of the 7 deadly sins, and is even said to be the root of the others.

Satanism is the worship of the self as god before God. Pride? Get it?
