Might as well join in on the fun.

About Me

I"m 23 (almost 24) years old from Maryland. I am a music major and play piano, organ, and vocals. On a religious spectrum I am a Conservative Jew and politically speaking well to the left.

Is there ever conflict between your conservative religious position and your left-leaning political position?

Nope! None at all.

"Conservative" in conservative Judaism does not mean politically conservative. Rather it means to conserve Jewish tradition rather than reform or abandon it.

Do you realise your socialist regime would punish all high-achievers and incentivise laziness?

Do you hope for the honesty and benevolence of the masses to improve if the system punishes the greedy?

I don't hate socialism, I am bemused by people who think it can work is all.

Religion and politics do often overlap. Is there nothing within Jewish tradition that conflicts with modern left-wing politics?

1. No it won't
2. Yep

From an ultra-orthodox perspective, sure. Homosexuality is certainly not accepted in the orthodox community, though we have found ways around it.

What ways around it have you found? Forgive my interest; I'm sure you may have wanted to kick back and pursue less controversial topics. We do debate the issues quite enough here already.

This is a very complex question and it really depends on who you ask.

In short: All Jews believe in reward and punishment and that there is an afterlife of some sort. We all also agree that there will be a resurrection of the dead.

The complex answer is that most Jews believe that the soul hoovers over the body for some time before moving onto the next world. "Hell" is more or less what Catholics call purgatory. There is a period of purification of the soul.

Some Jews also believe in reincarnation to an extent.

Not answering is the same as admitting that stuff is true. Thanks for your bravery in admitting it.

Do you live in Israel right now? (From your DART profile.)

Thoughts on Netanyahu? (I don't imagine they're positive, but specifics.)

Thoughts on Chomsky's position on the Israel-Palestine conflict?

'Am from' and 'live in' aren't the same in many people's English. For others, 'from' is place of birth and/or childhood location. Your sarcastic response wasn't necessary.

Tejretics can speak for himself. Besides that, whenever I have interpreted from as birth place people have ended up calling me a liar, because I clearly don't live in that area.

1. No
2. I cannot stand Netanyahu
3. I've got no opinion of Chomsky

Why no kids?

This is a multifaceted answer. Firstly I don't think I would make a good father.

The longer answer is that I have a sever case of Sensory Processing Disorder. I cannot stand the sound of crying babies or children and cannot stand the smell and texture of a dirty diaper.

It's a philosophical conundrum, if tell you to disobey me and you listen, then did you really disobey me or did you listen to me?
