The end of increased child tax credit payments and other government interventions has dramatically increased the supplemental child poverty rate (incorporates the value of benefits such as child tax credits, earned income tax credits and stimulus checks) in America from 7.8 to 12.4 percent.

Way to go Republicans.

For 2022, the U.S. poverty level was $13,590 for individuals and $23,030 for a family of three.

I remember you saying that there were tons of job opportunities in the US. Isn't it better to put these poor people to work so they can fulfill their needs by themselves?

Unemployment is at an all time low. Many jobs in this country don’t pay a living wage. As a result we have the working poor. You for example. Your substitute teaching job does not earn a living wage. Lucky for you, you live in your mother’s house. Not everyone is so lucky and not everyone lives alone like you. Some Poor people have families and a real life.
