It's been made clear that the moderating staff are going to stand their ground. They gave you permission to use the term, just not in a disrespectful way. I don't think it is unnecessary to ensure that racial slurs are not used in an insulting and blatantly offensive manner.

I also wanted to clarify that I did not intend to come off in an offensive and 'racist' manner. I simply stated my feelings, admitted that there was nothing to be done about it, and accepted that the term can be used. To top that off, I cordially and politely welcomed you to the site.

  

In the context of this hypothetical, I would not accept your word. If there is no way to prove that the ball is not red, and you have not looked inside the box, there is also no way to prove that it is, unless of course there is more to the context of the logic puzzle. Maybe you have prior interactions and - or knowledge about the contents of the box?

I was away, not scared off. And I resent the accusation ofbeing a racist. I never insinuated that one culture was superior to another,rather I stated that the etiquette and customs are different. I alsospecifically welcomed Tyrone – I was very genuine about it.  All I have stated is that it would be wise tobe mindful that not everyone on the site approves of the word. I suggested thatmoderation of speech would remedy that. I also specifically stated that while I personally found the worddistasteful, I understood the context it was being used in and could acceptthat. Please, I am no villain here.

I am sure he will be fine. I'm not so much offended by the use of the term as others are, simply because I understand the context it is often used in. However, I think it would be best for him to show some moderation in his use of the word, simply because it would be polite. I also think Bsh1 will be understanding and empathetic - not nearly as cutthroat as you think.

I understand the censure of my comment. I did not mean to imply that he is of poor character because of the language he personally uses. It will be a testament to his character if he can restrain himself from using what is commonly deemed as crude and racial language among other cultures. If I am expected to be respectful of his heritage and people, I only ask that he do the same.

The Madman is right on this. Your friend should be able to act in a honorable and polite manner on a consistent basis just as the rest of us are expected to. The question is more of his character than it is of tolerance on behalf of the site administration.

DS9 is also an interesting setting. Will we be assigned roles as characters?

I agree. We need to have some semblance of finality to the accepted meaning of law, and the understanding that refusal to comply will result in consequences being leveled towards the offending party. Without consistency and commitment to the law, our country will decay into anarchy. I fully support the constitutional and orderly amendment of laws and legislation, however having a capricious and trivial attitude towards legal implications is dangerous water.

Generation Kill had a good mix of witty and raunchy humor. It was also a faithful depiction of real world events.

I would like to play, but I am unfamiliar with the rules. I will learn as we go along.
