@FLRW
I think it makes sense to track percentage shot by police interactions. If they are dealing with black americans more often than whites than it makes sense for the disproportionate shootings.

I don't dispute that the black community is disproportionately affected. What I dispute is the fact police are blamed, when the police are less likely to act on prejudice than the general public.

The problems facing the black community are a result of a lot of sociological and systematic problems, and by focusing on police we miss the real solutions to those problems.

Weakeredge already looked at disproportionate sentencing for example, but ignores that focusing on the police does not solve that problem. Not do focusing on the police solve how  much violent crime affects the black community. Or how much poverty which is a contributor to criminality affects the black community.
Attacking the policing community doesn't solve those problems, in fact it distracts from those problems and allows inequality to persist by allowing it to be ignored. Particularly since the police actually do an incredible job in this country, even if they are assholes.

Like I said. Republicans care about what is good for America directly. If they can not think of a benefit to america for a policy they will reject it, such as with the refugee example. Policies that harm America, liberals don't mind because it improves the world. For example carbon taxes harm America because we end up exporting our carbon emissions to China. It benefits china because they take our jobs and our money goes there, but it hurts america, and democrats think the extremely marginal impact on the environment is worth it because of how global warming effects other countries. You are basically just using rhetoric to say you disagree with me, while when you explain yourself further it proves you actually do agree with me. Maybe you just like opposing people's opinions, even when those opinions are exactly the same as yours but merely worded differently

This is too much straw manning in a single post. Black poverty and segregation is not the fault of the police so I won't talk about that.

I already went over how officer's do not determine if somebody is a criminal, only if there is enough evidence to suspect them of a crime. Being a suspect and being guilty are two different things. I also already explained that police do not have X ray vision. That they don't know who is armed more often that decisions on whether to shoot it r not is based on things like whether somebody motions like they are going to draw a weapon or if they get in a vehicle that can be used as a weapon, when commanded to remain in place or if a black suspect is more likely to physically attack am officer and put him at risk of losing a weapon that can be used on him.

Where do you get that blacks are disproportionatelu shot by police anyway? Do you just look at your Twitter feed and think that serves as a viable source of news? When you look at how many contacts are made with police by blacks vs contacts with whites, blacks are actually less likely to be shot by police than whites.

Why are you ignoring my points? Like the ones that proved you wrong in my last post?

Why are you conflating race issues, such as judges disproportionately sentencing blacks and blacks being segregated socially with police issues?

You see it does only benefit Somalians, but liberals think helping out foreigners will somehow improve america. If the leftist argument is we should help who needs it the most even if it results in martyrdiom than that is very toxic itself, but I don't think the average liberal has that much self hatred and believe in karma of some sort

I think Trump replacing conservatism with nationalism changed the discussion and the Republican party. Now instead of clinging to old values that are constantly evolving anyway, the debate is essentially a choice between.

1. Let's do what is good for the country first and the world will benefit

Vs

2. Let's do what is best for the world first and america willl benefit.

@Theweakeredge
No resisting arrest shouldn't result in the death penalty. However when a cop is incapacitated, his gun can be removed from them and used on him, that means losing a fight is unacceptable and the must use deadly force to prevent losing if it comes to that.

Even if the resisting is non violent, they are authorized to use violence to get compliance, instead of just allowing people to do what they feel like.

The argument is that resistance to police is probably a good i dictator of when a police officer's life is in danger. When a police officer's life is perceived to be in danger, they have the right to defend it.

For example. If an officer is making a felony stop and asking a suspect to keep his hands up and the suspect reaches for an ID after that, then the cop will shoot and kill him. The cop doesn't have x ray vision and can't know if the suspect is reaching for a side arm and using his wallet as a ploy or if he is legitimately reaching for his wallet.

In the above scenario of a suspect reaching as if reaching for a side arm while being ordered to keep his hands on a steering wheel, would get shot whether he was armed or not. This would be regardless of his skin color. Cops really can't help the fact that if the guy did it and was white the media would ignore it, and that if the guy was black he would be labeled a racist, despite the fact the same actions would have been taken if it was his own grandma.

You are focusing too much on whether the person deserves to die. They don't deserve to die. Any loss of life is a tragedy.

You know why these same shootings don't happen in Australia? It isn't because of lack of racism. It is because police pretty much assume you are unarmed there and will die if they make that assumption here.

If you want to stop police shootings, police reform is not the solution. Gun control is.

We aren't using logic on an unconscious level are we? That is a conscious process. The one study cited supports this, because it mentions whe people receive damage to the emotional part of their brain, they become incapable of decision making.

Right or Wrong Choice?

@Stephen
I think it boils down time the madness of crowds. People riot over a career criminal getting killed, but ignore the violence rampant in the black community which was a responsible for more deaths per year. When Louis Farrakhan did the million man March to end black on black violence, it was quickly forgotten and instead anger started being directed at the group of people who put their life on the line to protect the black community.

You can see when crowds have the choice between making a real impact on society and reducing death and injustice like in the million man March or the choice of releasing their self rightous anger like with the BLM riots, they will 100% of the time opt for self rightous anger over actually saving lives.

I don't see the point in Jesus saving all of the leprosy. The message of his philosophy covered that we are already dead. "Let the dead bury their dead". If those lepers are already dead than who cares?

Plus it looks like when he healed people, he usually credited the people's faith. Perhaps those lepers lacked faith, but the ones who traveled miles to see him, did not.

Why wipe out leprosy if you already consider the person dead? Why wipe it out if the person is going to the afterlife at some point and this is just a temporary situation prior to eternal bliss?

The only reason to heal people it seems was to build a bigger and stronger following, not to make any difference on this planet in terms of the amount of suffering and death.

No.... you see, I argued that while emotions can influence decision and do, they can also not, what you proved is that emotions are made by the brain... which I already agreed with, that source wasn't really convincing of anything more than that. That talks about subconscious decisions being made... not that emotion is responsible for every one, that would be a leap in logic.

Nope, read through the articles I cited again. Studies prove that emotions pretty much rule us. Decisions are made on am unconscious level and then the frontal lobe rationalizes the decision after it is made, making us believe we actually made the decision logically. That is not a leap from what my sources say. The 17 studies cited by those sources indicate decision making is 100% emotional and no logic is involved at all. Not on a conscious level anyway, which is where logic resides.

I stated that a person is more likely to be shot by police if they are resisting arrest. You stated women attack police more often and are also shot More often. This seems to confirm what I said earlier about people who resist the police more are more likely to be shot by police. This is if I am understanding what you are saying correctly.

Cases against police are not famous for being horrible. What happens is people get pissed that courts do not bow to mob mentality and then protest that not bending to mob mentality and premature assumptions of guilt, somehow means the courts are racist.

We had the same sort of outrage when Oh Simpson and Caycee Anthony got off. People went out in huge droves protesting, because they get mad that courts do not obey the what of public opinion or bow to mob mentality.

The police are held accountable by their supervisors and internal corruption is dealt with by internal affairs and sometimes the FBI even gets involved. They also are under constant surveillance by the general public due to the invention of cellphones and bodycams.

The brain is not just chemicals. If you open it up you'll see it contains solid matter. The lymbic system is responsible for emotion. The frontal lobe for complex thought and reasoning. This is according neuroscientists.

I looked this up on the john hopkins website and provided two citations for why every decision a person makes is based on emotion. If you have an issue with any of the 17 studies cited in those articles, please explain why.

That isn't true. The emotional part of the  rain is in the limbic system. The part of the brain responsible for complex thought is in the frontal lobe.

I can prove it is behind nearly every decision. Usually you make a decision on a subconscious level and then you rationalize it, mainly to deny you don't have free will.

Studies have been done the prove the above, but it has also been notes that people with brain damage to the emotional parts of the brain become extremely indecisive, even if they considered themselves logical prior to said accidents.

There is an acceptable range of views on gun control, but you won't see a democrat support total abolition of the 2nd amendment or a republican support private ownership of bazookas.  The range is very tiny. Something like a range of one to 100 on gun control. Republicans would score around 40 and democrats 60 on a scale.
All it is, is tinkering along an acceptable range. The range just happens to be pretty narrow.

Trump was within that narrow range, but fortunately he was a populist so could occasionally step out of the range. I think you would get similar stabs from a leftist populist like bernie Sanders. Sanders would mostly support the same foreign policy and monetary policy, but would also maybe bailout student loans to keep his street cred.

You can see what happens when there is a legitimate movement to overthrow the established order. Occupy walstreet for example was scaring the bejesus out of the establishment, so liberals coopted the populist movement by making it also a pro SJW movement, which drove conservatives away.
The establishment uses divide and conquer tactics and usually by coopting movements. The teaparty movement was also populist, but people like Glenn Beck signed on and it drove the few liberals in the movement away.

Why do you think at a moment when leftists are rioting in cities and burning down businesses and right wingers are storming the capital, we still have political stability. Both sides hate the establishment, but have their anger sidetracked by being diverted towards each other.

Corporations pay billions to make sure we only elect politicians who have an acceptable range of views. Trump was the precursor for a figure that will unite left-wing and right wing populists, but he was still a safe ticket that had an acceptable range of views.

Incorrect, blacks are not the most likely to resist arrest, that's actually women of all ethnicities.
Well women are considerably weak than men and lack knockout power. Women are also more likely to hit their significant other, but they aren't as much of a threat as a man.

police are more likely to shoot black people without justification, more likely to imprison or charge them without valid incrimination, they are more likely to receive longer punishment for the same crime, you are objectively incorrect here.
Police aren't responsible for sentencing., And citation needed for the police shooting blacks without justification more often than whites.

The biggest justification for shooting somebody? "I thought they were on drugs.

Untrue. Any cop claiming that they shot somebody for being on drugs would go to prison.

Even with that though, the number of white violent crimes surpasses the amount of black violent crimes adjusted to population.

Irrelevant. Whites can be significantly more violent, and still show less resistance when being arrested.

Not sure what drugs have to do with whether a suspect is a threat.

Look, cops are armed. That means if they are ever incapacitated the person who incapacitated them will have access to their fire arm. Black suspects are more likely to resist arrest and make themselves threats.

If we look at demographics, american indians are the biggest demographic in terms of police use of force. Do you think there is more racism towards American Indians than blacks in the United States? Or could something else be in play? Perhaps suspects who feel more alienated from the larger society are more likely to view the police as an occupying force and resist arrest. Perhaps resisting arrest is the better metric in determining what groups are a threat to an officer as opposed to whether the cop has x ray vision and knows if they are armed and have drugs on them.

A lot of the people killed by cops May in fact be innocent of the crime they're suspected of. That is beside the point use of force has nothing to do with whether a suspect is guilty of the crime is being investigated for or stopped by the cop for. Use of force would be determined by the suspects behavior not by the suspects actual guilt of the crime. A jury decides guilt. A cop shouldn't allow himself to be killed whether the suspect he is interacting with is guilty or innocent.

I have seen footage of a person pointing a cellphone at a cop like it was a gun and getting shot. It was late at night and very dark.  Are you claiming a white guy who appears to be drawing down on a cop is less likely to get shot? Are cops so racist that they will allow whites to shoot them? It seems far fetched.

I believe civilians aren't very reasonable. Cops are trained to see potential threats earlier than a civilian. It's why civilians will think a suspect is no longer dangerous when his hands are in the air for example. Or how civilians are unfamiliar with the 21 foot rule and think a suspect with a knife or other weapon such as a rake are not a threat just because they are 21 feet away. It's why civilians don't understand common sense things like, if you wait for the suspect to actually draw his weapon you are already dead, so you depend on body language to predict when they are about to draw. . It's why civilians are confused with the fact a car can be used as a deadly weapon and are shocked when police shoot a suspect who is attempting to gain access to a vehicle when he was warned to stay still.

On the other hand. You are right. "Less taxes" is not an ideology.

Conservatism is an inherently losing ideology. They continue to try to hold onto the status quo and when liberals change the status quo, than they just seek to preserve that one instead.

I think the republican party is starting to realize they need to pander to conservatives while actually just making token efforts at conservatism to keep those voters.

Both parties are nearly identical. In fact Trump was basically a democrat, liberals even agreed with the policies he pushed, but only opposed them when he became the voice of them.

The media would have you believe Trump was a extreme right winger. In all honesty establishment politicians only opposed him because of his lack of decorum. Had he cared about decorum he would be very loved by the media and establishment politicians.

The same thing is going to happen to biden. A lot of Biden's policies look similar to Trump's but now republicans will oppose them to give the facade of actually having a 2 party system, when in reality he was just elected to passify the left wing elements of the democratic party.

Tldr, both parties pander to their radical element and promise change while continually acting like moderates who have policies with merely cosmetic differences.
