So our plan is to find your hirelings and see if they can track the coffin maker?

(It's to fetch the hirelings and go explore to get gold. Why track down the coffin maker? We know where his business/home is. If you want to interrogate the coffin maker go ahead and wait in town right at his shop for him to come back, he's bound to at some point just to gather his things ๐Ÿ˜‚. But we need gold to get our melees weapons that are silvered. Else all this will be for naught cause we'll get facerolled if even a few of the vamps wake up to fight.

3 hags each at CR5(1800 xp) wrecked us. One to two vamps full strength(not fledgelings) will faceroll us even harder each at CR13(10k xp).ย 

3 hags made it an adjusted xp modifier of 2x the 5400 total xp. So it was the equivalent of a 10,800 xp total fight. 2 vamps is 20k xp, multiplied by 1.5 for the adjusted modifier putting it at the equivalent of a 30k xp fight. That number continues to multiply if the realistic potential of having to fight more than just a couple happens.ย 

Keep in mind, the "xp modifier" is for balancing purposes. Its how you gauge the difficulty of encounters, outlined in the DmG. CR isnt really what's factored basically. At 5 level 5's a deadly encounter would constitute as a fight that is at around 10k+ modified exp.

Even at 5 the hags would still be a deadly encounter basically. 1-6 vamps would as well regardless of which specific number. We need to get weaps silvered, to even stand a snowballs chance in hell ๐Ÿ˜‚.)

I have eldrich blast

(This is the big one cause now that we're level 5 our Eldritch blasts do 2d10 as a cantrip ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. We don't really need basic weapons cause EB is essentially both our best "basic" attacks. And by basic i mean an attack that doesn't cost anything like a spell slot.)

(cool, so well count that copy cost in the silvering weapon cost. So we basically need 400 g. Two weapons for Roberts, one for Grahf, plus 100g for ur spell copy. I have a little over 200 and technically if we pooled our gold we could prob get to 300+ overall so don't need a crazy amount more. But I'd certainly like to not be totally broke as a group after the expenses ๐Ÿ˜‚.)

(true, which makes we wonder if we should be ready and prepare for an attack tonight)

(We aren't ready for a fight against 6 potentially CR13 monsters. We need silvered weapons, and even then we're in for a fight much harder than the hags unless we can catch them asleep during the day.ย 

We need to get gold so we can silver weapons for you, Eikka, and Grahf. Im iffy on whether i want a weapon silvered, likely just want arrows silvered if anything. But im more geared towards ranged dps with Eldritch Blast as a cantrip. Maybe pick up fire arrows or lightning arrow as my other magical secrets next level. Idk, still contemplating the second one. Maybe command, I like the thought of being able to have that as a spell from the cleric list.)

(do you think, the coffin maker will tip them off?

(I find it more likely they'll figure out something is amiss from the bones missing. Hence why Grahf should tell the priest to close the church at night and not let anyone in till we come back and take care of them.)

(We dont really "need" him to be anything. He's in a position where he could change his class to anything, or keep it as fighter, and we could make it work, anyone could who has a reroll available tbh.)

(I think placing the bones back might have countered the planned attack. But like Roberts said we have some time before they were planning to attack. I think we should go explore the areas around town to pull in some gold so we can silver weapons for everyone, then come back in the afternoon while its still daytime tomorrow and take care of them. We can camp out overnight out of town once tired. Maximize time exploring.ย 

Go fetch the hunters then head out? We should still have plenty of time to get em. I would make sure the priest super secures that location so the bones don't get taken.ย  And also shut the church overnight and let's nobody inside(vampires have to be invited in.) just as a precaution in the interim tbh.ย 

Either we take care of the vamps now, or do it tomorrow. I say tomorrow tbh, we can start getting our weapons silvered when we come back, stake and take care of vamps in the interim. Then festival and then take our time exploring more if need be while we wait for them to be finished? Or just chill in town with a weeks worth of downtime if Drafter allows us?)

area silence spell...if only,

(Right, i have a level 2 spell that I could have chosen that deafens sounds in a radius around a point. Now i regret not taking it ๐Ÿ˜‚. Spell selection for bards is so tough to choose ๐Ÿ˜‚. Level 3 spells are gonna be even more difficult cause there are so many good ones at 3 ๐Ÿ˜‚.)

(What? If they're in the boxes, that's means resting. Staking doesn't kill a vampire btw, it just paralyzes it. And again, a vampire regens life every turn unless hit with radiant, or in sunlight/running water. The fire will damage them, they'll regen it.ย 

Smoke blocks light no? start off a house fire, it's gonna produce smoke and lots of it, especially in the house itselfย  They'll take damage, and regen it right after taking it. Then they'll probably be awake and we'd have to fight them.ย 

Vampires(unless fledgelings) are CR13, Hags are CR5. There are 6 vamps, we got rekt by 3 hags. Just saying, fighting them will prob result in us getting rekt ๐Ÿ˜‚.ย 

Fmpov best bet is to stake them to paralyze them. Then cut their heads off and take them to the lake to bury them underwater.ย

(they're in the boxes resting... We can just stake them while they sleep and then take their heads off and bury them in the lake or a stream. All you're going to accomplish with burning the house is setting off a fire thats liable to spread through the whole city. I really don't feel like getting apprehended for Arson, hoss ๐Ÿ˜‚.ย

(actually, now that you bring up sleeping... if they're spawns its best we go during the day maybe? Sure we wouldn't have the cover of night, but if they are vampire spawns or vampires in general, they would prob be sleeping. Make for an easy stake. Hopefully they are, or you guys might need to hightail it ๐Ÿ˜‚.)

Say to give up the bones and you'll go away maybe? If he doesn't, I suppose once Roberts and I are finished here, we try to get the two hired hands to join and storm the coffin makers.

I'll try to break us in the back door, there's a back door right? Or at least a second door to get inside. Basically one person distracts him at front door, while i break the rest of us in the backdoor, is what I'm picturing as a solid plan of attack?

We'd have to prolly wait for nighttime though. So we can be stealthier.)


(@Drafter- can i see anything behind Vargas where he came from? Any other people in where he just came from while he was walking out or currently if the doorway is open?)

(ehhhh, I don't trust this guy, I'd personally rather not divulge priviledged and inside info like that and otherwise tip off that we didn't come here for the festival.ย 

I'm actually pretty concerned about Ireena. If the Burgomaster really wants to protect and secure Vallaki, turning over Ireena would prolly accomplish that. I'm not gonna bring up Ireena to him at all cause of that.

If he brings her up in the course of me ingratiating myself and getting close, all the better. My suggestion would be, while I work my way into his good graces, somebody else ask around with the servants about Ireena. But I think belying we know Ireena might backfire, and ive got a vibe we're gonna have to break her out of here.)

Very well then, I couldn't help but overhear you say those in your court desire a performance as well. And of course, I'm not one to refuse such a desire. So shall I perform in your court for them as well?

After all there are visual elements to my performances that add to the enjoyment. For example...
