Here we go. I find that pretty plausible. But what do you suppose she was hiding?I can only speculate really because I don't know everything that the Netherlands makes illegal for its politicians, or what kind of scandal could drive a politician to be ousted from power at the local level.....If I had to make a guess though, I would bet that she was trying to operate some sort of smear campaign against political rivals she called out before (the mayor and another Muslim official) by making crazy claims about them, which could open her up to charges of libel, slander, or hate speech depending on what she was claiming and what the laws of the Netherlands actually are...... Im assuming that her computer would be able to be searched in an investigation of her residence, and any files on that which relate to a smear campaign against people she didn't like would be revealed, and potentially ruin her career depending on how bad it is.Again though, pure speculation.
That's definitely an alternate theory that would account for her actions. But unfortunately there is no more evidence of that than there is of the rape. As you said, speculation. Well, to be more specific, there's evidence she had been investigated, but no evidence she killed herself because of career troubles and tried to frame a political rival. I haven't heard about the investigation into her residence turning up anything relevant to this. Wikipedia says the investigation ended "without definitive conclusion". Wikipedia also makes it sound like her home was only being investigated because she lived outside the district she was working for and that was a no-no.

I figured. Thanks anyway.Yeah, the mentions is my main concern because it may be confusing if your activities start to disappear or point to posts in which you are not actually mentioned, not sure how to go around it to be honest.

I really hate doubting rape because I know it's doubters that keep a lot of women who are raped from coming forward, and not being believed can compound the trauma. But at the same time we can't hold men responsible for crimes there is no evidence of, and I feel we have to be careful and responsible about who we point the finger at, because a rape accusation can ruin a man's life.

@Imabench
There was an investigation into her home/residence Starting around February of 2018.... When she went AWOL in August, the reason she gave for leaving the city was for the same investigation into her residence, who she blamed rival politicians (including the mayor) for starting in the first place.If I had to guess why she committed suicide, I would put my money on the combination of the investigation into her home, her hiding something that would be ruinous to her career if it were revealed by the investigation, and some sort of undiagnosed mental illness that slipped under the radar. People dont flip sh*t about an investigation into their home the way this politician did unless they have some sort of mental affliction, are hiding something fairly big, or both.
Here we go. I find that pretty plausible. But what do you suppose she was hiding?

@vagabond
"Any number of reasons" = things in her life that would have contributed to depression and ultimately suicide.
Created:

If she wasn't raped or harassed, what was her motive for suicide? That is the question currently floating around in my brain. It could be any number of reasons; I don't know her life. But that alternate motive needs to be found.

Tag! I found this place from the general religion discussion thread.
Oh only just found out about it? You must've slipped through the cracks, we've been trying to spread the word. We should probably repost the link to DART in the most current page of the religion thread.

How exactly? It doesn't strike me as very "emotionless justice-seeker".

Okay. I really need to familiarize myself with some of the old hats from DDO, I never talked to many people outside the religion forum.

They just seem like a bit of fun. I think Tarot cards are neat as well. I like symbolism.

Because you as well as ethan seemed to act like you already know Zarroette, and I don't. Also ethan has always treated me nicely and fairly. But I didn't start the thread intending for it to become a personal spitfight. How did we get here.
Lol, who do you consider the top six then?

Would it ever be possible to edit the receivers of a post or comment I make? Sometimes I forget to @ the right person, but I can't fix that in edit.
But I know this could present problems for the mention system.

Confession time. In the Purge universe, would you be one of the folks who battens down the hatches and waits it out without committing violence... or one of the ones who give in to their darker nature and inner crazy, and tear around the streets howling and hunting. Keeping in mind that *who* you hunt is completely your choice.

Atheists are often heard saying that a human-centric view of the universe is arrogant. That it is vain to think some vast cosmic being is interested in our tiny doings. Why then should we turn around and ask why this vast cosmic being has never performed a trick purely for our benefit?

Remember all the "heritage not hate" signs. In the Lost Cause mentality, the role of slavery seems to be mysteriously minimized or dismissed, and instead all the focus is on honor, lost glory, and some heritage of righteous rebellion.

I support Trump's decision here, yes. Although as I understand it, this is something that has been in the works for some time.
I'm always surprised some of these guys are still alive. I always have this "did you think you could just get away with it" hunger for their capture and conviction, but at the same time I also want to sit down and talk to them like Interview With A Vampire or something.

They never air anything unflattering of Trump. On the other hand, CNN never airs anything flattering of Trump. Is that just because Trump never does or says anything flattering? I have my doubts. I'm against him, but I have my doubts.

Himmler quote.
I also want to talk to you, quite frankly, on a very grave matter. Among ourselves it should be mentioned quite frankly, and yet we will never speak of it publicly. ... I mean the evacuation of the Jews, the extermination of the Jewish race. It's one of those things it is easy to talk about -- "The Jewish race is being exterminated", says one party member, "that's quite clear, it's in our program -- elimination of the Jews, and we're doing it, exterminating them." And then they come, 80 million worthy Germans, and each one has his decent Jew. Of course the others are vermin, but this one is an A-1 Jew. Not one of all those who talk this way has witnessed it, not one of them has been through it. Most of you must know what it means when 100 corpses are lying side by side, or 500 or 1000. To have stuck it out and at the same time -- apart from exceptions caused by human weakness -- to have remained decent fellows, that is what has made us hard.
"Remained decent fellows." 🙁

I agree and it a shame that the NFL for decades promoted hard hitting and knockout shots.....It would be a search to find football films referencing the 1970's and before without mentioning the "Purple People Eaters" or the "Steel Curtain" or the "Doomsday Defense" not to mention the Black and Silver Raiders.
Hah, I'm so out of touch with sports. 😕 I take it those terms were celebratory of high brutality plays? The 1970's, that would've been Mike Webster's era.

It's definitely meaningless scientifically speaking. We just kinda use the word "racism" because we need a name for the particular sort of prejudice we see here:
"...its foundations are laid, its cornerstone rests upon the great truth, that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery—subordination to the superior race—is his natural and normal condition. This, our new government, is the first, in the history of the world, based upon this great physical, philosophical, and moral truth."

@SkepticalOne
You've spelled out exactly my concerns. It is concerning more people dont see this as a problem and recognize it as a potential attack on religious freedom.
I'll suspend judgment until I hear that the task force has actually done something worth being concerned about. If it remains unbiased, protects all religions equally, doesn't infringe upon the liberties of the non-religious, and doesn't push people around under the guise of "defending religious freedom", then I will have no problem with it.

I don't think that Trump is a racist, But I do believe that he's a bigot.Bigots discriminate based off of personal opinions (which might include Race for some) but could also include religion, gender, lack of wealth etc.Trump's bigotry is not exclusive to Race imo.
Solid.

Why?
So I know if I have history with someone I'm talking to.
I'm not asking anyone to surrender their privacy if they'd rather not. I was just wondering if anyone knew some of the members who have openly acknowledged their old usernames.

Psychologically or physically?I have never ever been totally alone in a survivalist scenario if we include strangers as people that are keeping me 'not alone'. I was always, from even the age of 3, strategic enough that even once as a kid I got lost (like totally lost) in a huge park-like place with a canal and stuff and my parents were panicking hard but I worked out after 3 minutes of realising I'd got lost that I would be better off to not risk kidnapping etc by running straight to the nearest cafe and while it took my parents around an hour to eventually find me my strategy was perfect and my parents congratulated me on how I went about it (I intentionally made it so they'd find me later but in a way that guaranteed no stranger could get at me).This was always a strong instinct in me, I have that hunger games gene in me and am always ready to at any minute be thrown to the wolves alone. I am certain that I'd fare well in prison even though I'm very weak physically compared to most men. I have an extremely high EQ and IQ that combine to allow me to charm the right people and terrify those who I cannot charm. This combination of traits was not always ideal in how I applied it but it is since around 2 years ago.
I'll go with "either psychologically or physically", and I'll extend the question to anyone in the thread who wants to answer it.
I think periods of mental isolation, where we're completely alone with ourselves, can be defining and consciousness-changing. Part of it, I think, is just that what role you play in a given moment is so often determined by who's in the room. We spend our whole lives reacting to other people. So there's a question of "who are you when no one else is in the room?" or "who are you when no one is watching?"
Anyway thanks for sharing. For a kid, that's staying pretty calm. As always you seem to be your own biggest fan, but I find it kinda entertaining, so I dunno. Carry on.
