Secular humanism is a contradiction. Here's why(note: I am neither an atheist or a humanist) :

Humanism: puts humans at a prime moral/social/philosophical importance.

Atheism: there is no god, therefore there is no afterlife, therefore nothing you do or think matters at all. There is no moral standpoint, only what you like matters.

Here's the problem: In an atheist worldview, why do humans have to be more important than animals? Why aren't monkeys or rats of prime moral importance? Why of all the animals supposedly generated by blind natural processes do humans have to be of any major moral importance? After all, in atheistic worldview, a very good person who does good things like donating to charities, saving people, being kind to others, has the same fate as an evil man who kills everyone he doesn't like, steals whatever he wants, and has lots of hatred - when they both die, they completely disappear. This is the problem with every atheistic world view that claims to have a strong moral code - like communism.

I want to check out other cool formal debate websites to diversify into. Anyone know any. By formal debate I talk about the kinds of debates here on debate.org with rounds and votes and stuff.

I know this is probably old news to you, but in case for those who don't know, debate.org has been closed. This reminds me of when vine closed, the website exists, but the only page is a farewell note.  For some there's sadness in this, for others there's a bit of joy, but I think we all predicted it. It's been anarchy for a time now. At least we can all remember the moments we had with it. At least Backwardseden has nowhere to go now, that swamp monster is in internet limbo.

R.I.P Debate.org - we all had to start somewhere, and here it was.

I thought this was a philosophical question that needed some attention. I want to see what you define what a universe is.

I know this may seem unimportant but think about it. There are many questions inside this one question - such as:

* Are the worlds inside thoughts and dreams part of our universe or outside of it?
* Are fictional worlds part of our universe?
* Are numbers and abstract objects part of our universe?
* Do other universes exist?
* I can go on and on

here are some common definitions:

* All of time, space, and matter
* all of totality
* all of space

I bet you all know about Debate.org, and there's a reason you pick this site over debate.org, but here are mine:

* Debate.org has no moderation, there are no serious debates. A lot of the debates are about really disgusting/immoral topics and things that should not even be up for debate.

* The userbase is terrible. One particularly bad user is backwardseden(you know who I'm talking) this crazy, illiterate, child-in-a-man's-body ,atheist nutjob is the boogeyman of debate.org. I remember when I started debating online I was foolish enough to debate him. I made some reasonably sound arguments but he responded with pure ad hominems, insults, lies(like when he said he answered a point when he didn't), etc. I wasn't even being mean to him, I was trying to s how my respect. So I did as the bible says to "shake the dust off my shoes and leave." and a friendly user over there introduced by here.

* People don't even debate here, they just wanna attack opposition and troll them. And when they're about to lose they leave.

Redeeming qualities:

* I know that the website looks outdated to some of you, but I find the UI charming. This is mostly because I love skeuomorphism and other 2000s style designs.

Be free to state opinions.

So my new guideline goes like this:

To support/attack a claim you must first prove/disprove it scientifically. If you can't prove or disprove an idea scientifically, you must then try to prove/disprove the idea/claim rationally/logically/philosophically.

Any thoughts? Be sure to be kind when giving criticisms.

Sorry if I've been inactive in debates, it's just that IRL keeps me from debating. Well I'm back, and I have new debate ideas and arguments. Just know that if I am inactive, then it's probably life.
