WTF are you talking about? I just told you I was not alive then, (I was speaking about 1953), which means I would be post 1953.... You were implying that you were alive then, so that would make you older than me. Am I missing something? Maybe you are too old and have become senile.
How was I trying to change the subject?
What are you getting at?

And you are right, I was not alive then. So, if you were alive then, Kudo's to you, you are older than me. Like I said, I don't lie.

Sure. Do you want to go off high school graduation year? College Graduation year? 15 or 20 year anniversary date at work after graduating College? Or would you like to just keep it simple and say your age first?
I don't lie, and I will admit it if you are older than me.

it started during the Great Depression. Not everyone went to school or even tried to before it. Once the economy fell, the only people getting jobs were people with degrees
If you reach puberty do you think your opinions might change?
This is not an opinion. This is called critical thinking... you think the Great Depression had no influence on people's decision to attend college/ higher education? Puberty has nothing to do with this, but actual wisdom does. I guarantee I went through puberty before you were even close to a thought in your parents head of becoming a fetus, baby, human, or whatever your preferred name is.

What about people who get the student loans, but end up dropping out? Should they be punished, or forgiven, because it is them who are not going to be able to pay it back, unless they dropped out because of a great money making opportunity.
How about making it more disciplined than it is today? The Navy and the Army make people disciplined, I wouldn't say that it is free because they require you to work it off afterwards in the military for like 5 additional years.... but the graduation rate is much higher because the people are really not allowed to do much besides study and physical training. I don't think that is possible in a free country, but it is worth pointing out the statistical differences between military and non.
Also, make Community College like second high school, but you can go if you want, there is no law that says you have to, teachers get paid like public school teachers. Also, decrease the ridiculous amount of money that is paid to these Community College executives that do nothing for the school except act as an ambassador for it, traveling to meaningless locations, and attending meaningless parties, usually outside of the state or jurisdiction they represent. Then the schools still get subsidized.
Stop paying professors so much money, besides they are probably teaching the subject because they cannot actually make money doing it. That was the case with my college professors. And they all were so smug, they did not like to be challenged because it was their classroom. This is probably the only possible place where they feel like the boss, they could never be the boss in the real world.
The reason people go to school now is because it has become what we thought was a requirement for a job, but really, it started during the Great Depression. Not everyone went to school or even tried to before it. Once the economy fell, the only people getting jobs were people with degrees. So basically, we all just go to school because we are scared something like that will happen again.... And there is good reason to be.

Yep that is me, the ignorant American. Sorry I have patriotism.
It's like playing for a baseball team, and supporting them, and saying that it is the best baseball team to be a part of, even though it may not be the best in a statistical way, or there is no possible way the team could actually win the championship.... But still staying true to your team, sticking by them and speaking for them.
You wouldn't know anything about that though. You are not a team player and were brought up in a time where points don't matter, where competition is a thing of the past.... even though it has been proven that the best results come from competition, not just participation.
I'm in sales, and we have a quota, which is a competition to keep your job, then after that it is a competition to be the best out of the sales people. Do you think it would work if everyone got paid the same?

Are you saying that I am a woman.... That hates racists? I think you are trying to say the below, so I will go with that.
So...I'm a woman hating racist because I think it is a good idea to not get in fights when you are pregnant?
I took my dog to the vet the other day, the vet was pregnant and she did not want to get close to the dog in case he lashed out, he has a bit of a history when you try to put anything in his butt, so I had to hold him down and help her to take his temperature. Was I being a woman hating racist because I respected her decision to not put herself in harms way? And she was smart to keep her distance.
I don't think so.

I do have zero knowledge, and I didn't know she was black, you pointed that out. All I am saying is, don't get in altercations with people that might shoot you, especially if you are pregnant. Why are you trying to put words in my mouth? I have no problem. It said she got in a fight.
I don't know why you continually say that I think lawbreakers should have guns. You are nonsensical.

Why was she out and about fighting with people who have guns while she is pregnant. I don't think she should be charged, but seriously, who the hell does that? I have no fng' clue what you are talking about. Forget about the gun.

Illegal immigrants broke the law, and the law is stupid, you want to reward them.
Just plain old Anti-American.
This is probably one of your favorite videos, released two days before July 4th. Thanks NY Times. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/01/opinion/america-great.html
So Patriotic isn't it? Maybe it's true, but seriously why put this out there right now of all times? In contrast, Why do people still flock to the US if we are just OK. Why did the people who promise to leave if Trump became POTUS, not leave?
Because, despite all of our shortcomings, we are still the greatest country in the world. If they want to boast about how we are not, why don't they also tell kids the truth, that dreams do not come true, and you really can't be anything you want to be. Make a video like that to compliment this one and ratings from people like Disgusted will go through the roof.

My opinion is that you only care about minorities and illegal immigrants. You do not care about legal citizens or old white men, who were dealt a bad hand, believe it or not, they do exist. Regardless if this article and the rantings of the youtube video is true or not. These are your true colors.
I care about everyone, and everyone's situation is different.
We know this guys situation, at least what was reported, he was poor, couldn't afford to keep the water running, or the lights on, but he inherited a gun, which makes him evil. We know nothing about the people crossing the borders situation, yet they get the benefit of the doubt? They might have owned many guns back home, or they did not have a home, or they had to sell the guns to random people to stay afloat until finally, they decided to trek to America and claim asylum even though they were in no danger, they just had no money. They may even have criminal backgrounds worse than not registering a gun, how do we know? They could be from a different country that they are saying they are from.
As much as I have empathy for people crossing the border and trying to make a better life for themselves, there are many people that actually live here that are in the same situation and get worse treatment. Some of them are vets, how can we let that happen. We have forgotten that the US needs should come first.
Created:

@mustardness
You are such a hypocrite. This guy, who is actually a citizen, is going through hard times... has a gun that was given to him by his dad, protects himself, then gets arrested for it and you can't even try to defend him? Are you against him because he has a gun, or because he broke the law, or is it because, oh I don't know.... He is a citizen? Or is it because he is an old white man? All of the above. He has white mail priveledge and there is no reason he should be broke? Is that it?
Why don't you say that about every single illegal immigrant here in the country, they all broke the law, but you don't believe in that law because it is unreasonable, but this one is reasonable? You are so for people that are not citizens and hate everyone that is. That is the problem with people these days, they don't care for their own. I wonder how you treat your own family. I would venture to say that you have had a falling out with most of your family and are not on speaking terms with them. Just a guess. You will not admit it, but if it is true, I hope it makes you think about your choices more if I guessed right.

This is an interesting topic even though Dr Franklin almost ruined it. There is no constitutional right to fly that I am aware of, but why would it be any different from walking around? You can’t just be stopped from going from one place to another for no reason, why is flying any different? We are making exceptions. If that is the case, there can be an exception to any law.

I don't know exactly where the proposed wall is supposed to be built, but I do know that they don't plan on building it in the areas where the Rio Grande is virtually impossible to cross. They should though because people are still going to try to cross it, then they will drown.

Bernie was same old Bernie
The only reason i like Bernie is that he's coming at it as extreme as possible. I think that's an important manipulation tactic. If the goal is all the way to one extreme... it's easier to work with other people to come to a middle ground. I like that kind of strategy bc that's the only way we can pass things... if we can find middle ground. If the starting point is middle ground... it's more likely nothing will get done.
I agree, but not when you are running for President. That is the tactic that Trump uses, which I have said many times, and the Dems are taking notes and starting to do that. Most of the time, he has asked for more but settled for what he really wanted in the first place. He didn't really do that during the race, if you do that, you lose the voters that don't know what you are trying to do. You look too radical, and you will never win. Plus, I can't stand looking and listening to him more than Trump, and Trump is pretty unbearable.
Love:
I was referring to Marianne Williamson when she said she would harness love and beat Trump with it. Just ridiculous, but I guess that is what a self help author is for. https://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/ny-marianne-williamson-democratic-debate-20190628-ewan65g5ozfkdaioqytfrimbh4-story.html
I agree about the others, and totally agree about the Harris being a lawyer, that is what she is paid to do and paid to portray, and she is damn good at it. No one even cared if what she said was true or not, she got your attention. I'm pretty sure that most of the people you mentioned used one or two word in the answer, the ones that didn't, with maybe one or two exceptions will not be back in September...
Yang started talking in a language that most don't know, true economics, and also in Computer Science terms. You can tell he works with computers, he has to understand that the majority of people don't speak that language, and if you are really going to try and prove your point, you have to say your highly mathematical idea in layman terms.
I just have a feeling that some of the people coming up have had problems for a while. They are probably broke and have been broke, had a place to stay for a bit, work odd jobs, but had kids when it was not economical. Hispanics do that here as well, I see 10 to 15 of them living in one townhouse, and half the women are pregnant... What happens then? And why does that happen? Is it because they could not afford contraceptives or abortion? Is it because if they went to try to get an abortion they may be deported? It's like if all the homeless people of the US had children, then got together and decided to rush Canada, or even Mexico. That would never happen because the homeless have it ok here, which is a horrible thing to compare. The problem is, the immigrants are comparing what is better, being homeless in South America/Central America, or being homeless here. I don't agree that should ever become a reason give asylum or to let people come into America. If we don't stop it, the USA will not longer be the USA , and we will start to have more check points between states to regulate who comes in, states will start to segregate. Or if we continue to let them go wherever they want, it will get worse and worse until there is a rise in the people, and someone like Hitler comes into play and speaks like Kamala. Everyone plays on that persons every word, next thing you know there are concentration camps built for people who are not contribution, or people who have certain markers that are evident in the future, then a few years later, another holocaust. I don't know what the marker would be, but it would not be good. It would be Germany in 1940, only it would not necessarily be Jews.

@Greyparrot
I do think he scared everyone into coming... They all thought that he was going to put up a wall and it would be much harder to get across the border. Let's face it, we have no idea how many people get across the border undetected, if they are undetected, how would anyone know. So, immigrants all decided to get together and make their trek before more laws were passed to make it harder to get in. (or a wall was built)
He definitely put the fear that it may be harder in the future, which caused these caravans, then being hopeful, most of them just followed the crowds. I don't think Trump did the wrong thing, someone had to say it, and someone has to react to it.

I had too much Dewars and was too far behind to continue to try and keep up. I turned it off and went to bed. From what I gathered, I thought Kamala did well, still don't like her, but being able to stand up to people like that gets my attention as well, but I think she is fighting for the wrong things.
I didn't like Yang too much (trickle up will not work),
Bernie was same old Bernie, just waiving his arms around and yelling in his Boston accent, free, free, free. Biden got too frustrated, and has lived too long that he cannot defend past decisions.
Passing the torch was dumb.
Going head to head with Trump and having only Love on your side is not going to work. She had no idea what she was talking about, and has no business being up there.
Anyone who answered a required on or two response questions with a full paragraph should automatically be disqualified.
Pete was actually pretty good, he acknowledged impossibilities in particular policies that all of them want, and the fact that not everything is going to be fantastic, and not everything is going to work as planned. I liked his humbleness, and he spoke with direction and sounded Presidential. Swalwell said he should have fired the chief of Police because they could not get more blacks on the payroll. Then suggested that he should be fired because he didn't fire the chief.
Everyone still says that Trump is the one separating families and putting children in horrible holding facilities, like he started it, no it was Obama. Why does everyone believe this as truth.

Man, you have gone so far off the mark that you don't even know what we are arguing about anymore. I never mentioned murder, (you were the first to write it in the entire thread) I mentioned killing people. Do you recognize now that things written can be misleading, you inadvertently started arguing saying I used words that I didn't? I was giving an example of that, and you were supposed to understand the example, but you actually fell for the example and went off on a tangent arguing that..... classic!
here are my exact words: That is like writing an article about how 100% of people believe that killing people is wrong. Then taking that article as proof that 100% of people think Capital Punishment is wrong.
No mention of murder, you interpreted that. That is the point, it mislead you. The person writing the article is asking a one question, then using it as proof to answer a totally different question, then writing about it. I hope this finally sinks in.
You further proved it by the next paragraph by saying no economist agrees with Trump and these tariffs, what I am saying is no economist in that article was asked specifically about Trumps decision to impose tarifs, this instance, right now, due to these circumstances, now, to China, to Mexico, if it had happened, referring to his decision to do it, because of this reason. All they said was that tariffs, in general, were a bad thing, but the article implied that they did ask specifically about this instance, they did not. That is where it is misleading. Good for you, you fell for it.
I did not know that Chuck Schumer agreed with the tariff until GP posted it just a couple days ago, I was surprised, I will admit, considering he has never agreed with Trump on anything. I now have a bit more respect for the guy. Economist know the economy, not how it all comes together. AOC claims she is an economist, she is the dumbest person ever elected to anything.
Your reply to GP about the military just further proved his point and my point. You don't understand your own argument, you are arguing for arguments sake... Wow, I sound like my Dad, which kind of, in a way, makes sense.
Created:

@TheRealNihilist
Trump is using tariffs in a different way than past Tariffs are used. He used it on Mexico as a threat, which is the first time any President has used them to negotiate an immigration problem. And he is using it on China to end the intellectual property theft, as well as evening out the playing field in other aspects.
You explained the difference between murdering people and the death penalty, which I moved it around and called it killing someone, which is the whole misleading aspect of my comparison, they don't mean the same thing, yet you think that they do, which is why you have fallen for the article, and why you believe Trump is an evil person because you don't see the way the article is misleading. I can't explain it any more than I already have. You are a lost cause.
Let me give you another example of a misleading article that I read.
There was an article that blamed Trump for the interest rates hiking, which at 19 years old, you would know nothing about. Anyway, they implied that the interest rates going up is a bad thing, when in actuality, it is not. It is a sign of a very strong economy and things are going well for the time being, so the Fed decides to hike the rates up in order to balance multiple things out. The editor made it seem to people that do not understand this, which would be people like you, that Americans will now have to spend more money on interest, all because Trump doesn't know what he is doing, which couldn't be further from the truth.
BTW, Chuck Schumer is a United States Senator and the Senate Minority leader, and it is his job to care about these things.... He knows more about the country than any regular old economist does. I disagree with him on most of his agenda, but this one, smart people can agree on. You would rather us go to war on China, or impose sanctions, which also can lead to war. Tariffs on the other hand probably won't lead to war, which is very smart for Trump to take this action to avoid lives being lost. It also may backfire, but we shall see.

@TheRealNihilist
What are you going on about Mr. Omar? I'm merely pointing out the fact that the article you cited is misleading. It is not proof of anything.
Yes, tariffs can hurt the economy, all economists will agree on that, that is established. But do they agree with what Trump is doing, and do they have all the facts, is the question? We don't need an article written about a generalized statement, which the article that you attached says it is right in the body of it. Articles like these are the reason people don't like Trump, because they mislead the public into thinking what he is doing is detriment to the country. And they call Trump voters uneducated, and drinking the kool aid.
You cited this article to say that Trump is wrong on imposing taxes, yet, someone else cited an article where Trump's arch nemises, who has opposed him in every possible policy, actually agrees with him, and then you ask... Who is he?
I don't need evidence to prove that this article is misleading, just read it again.
That is like writing an article about how 100% of people believe that killing people is wrong. Then taking that article as proof that 100% of people think Capital Punishment is wrong. Do you see the comparison?

On another note, The OP had to look up Chuck Schumer to find out who he was. Anyone that has to do that shouldn't really have an opinion on anything political.
Yeah, that was stunning to say the least. Reminds me of those contrived "man on the street" skits with the random dummy tropes. Except I think this one could have been accurate.
It does, we didn't have to even set it up, or ask 1000 people, then pick and choose the ones we wanted to show to "prove" our point.
Created:

@TheRealNihilist
In the OP, you claimed that every Economist on Earth agree's that tariffs are not good, which I agree with, and they would be right. But you made the connection to that article as if they were asked regarding this specific incident, and Trumps decision to impose them. Do you see the way the article reads? They say whether or not they agree with tarifs in general, but they also imply that the questions asked is specifically about Trumps plan. A misinterpretation of the facts to give people like you ammunition. This is kind of fake news, that is what you are falling for when reading these articles.
It is misleading to the core, from the title, in the subject, it does mention in general, but you are supposed to look over that, and they expect you to. Read it again and get back to me.
Created:

The OP gives no proof of why economists think imposing tariffs are not a good idea, but 1. how was this question asked, is it in general? The article just says all economists agree that Tarifs are not a good idea... but they would all be right, because the do hurt the economy, but this is why Economists are not presidents, and are not in charge of anything, pretty much ever..... This situation is a very tough decision, and it would go agains their beliefs... but to tell you the truth, they never predict the right outcome, otherwise they would not call themselves economists, they would just be rich. The market takes a big hit every once in a while, then it comes back up.
On another note, The OP had to look up Chuck Schumer to find out who he was. Anyone that has to do that shouldn't really have an opinion on anything political.
I admit imposing tarifs on anyone that stands to lose less than we do would be stupid... but the fact is China will hurt more than we would on both ends of the spectrum. They did start imposing tariff's, which ... big deal, we will buy elsewhere, and the people that can't will just have to raise the price to the consumer a bit... the fact is China can't afford to lose the US. How many things do you pick up a day that says "Made in China" on them? Probably 50% of everything you use.... and most are things that we can definitely find elsewhere, usually little pieces of crap. There would be a few businesses hurt, the technology world would be hurt pretty bad (in my opinion, needs to slow down a bit anyway), and there may be fewer fireworks in the sky come July. It sucks for these businesses in the short run, but once China realizes the importance of the need to trade with us, they will fold, and all will not only go back to normal, but it will be better than the past.

Most of the Dems and TDS Rhinos in Congress do not want to start impeachment process. They agree with Pelosi, who is actually being smart about not seeking it, but they also do not want to silence the few that do want to start impeachment. Those people think he has broken the law, and keep stating it, but it would never be proven in court or during impeachment. The Dems that do keep up the sherade of saying he broke many, many laws and it is laid out in the Mueller report. This gives the media things to talk about, and to continue to talk about until the end of his term, then it will start all over when he is elected again, and will keep people on the track of hating him.
She knows this because it will just blow up in Dems face, and be worse off when he is found not to have committed an impeachable offense, therefore less of a chance at winning the Dems take the next election. It will be more wasted time, just like the past 2 1/2 years.

If Mueller found something that was worthy of indictment or impeachment, he would have explicitly said that, instead he said he would not come to a conclusion on whether he did or didn't. Just because he cannot indict a sitting president does not mean he can't suggest that it be done, or suggest that impeachment process should be started based on his findings and his understanding of the law.
Basically, I read this as, he still thinks Trump did something bad, he just has no proof, and he has turned over as many rocks as he can.
This flies in the face of every prosecutor's job, and is actually contrary in every way to what they are supposed to do. The conclusion is either guilty or not guilty, or enough evidence is there to start some sort of proceeding. Since he did not say that he believes Trump to be guilty, that means he is not guilty, because it could not be proven in a court of law. This is how the whole justice system works.
Mueller is a coward to write this report in this manner... This is just another scandal to add to the 50 millions scandals we already have. He knew there was no collusion month's into Trumps Presidency, the rest of the time was spent waiting for Trump to try and obstruct justice.
This investigation, which is was not really an investigation if there was going to be no conclusion is a farce and a disgrace to everyone, US Government, it's citizens, Office of the Special Counsel, and ruined some good people's lives that wouldn't have been ruined if the investigation never existed. Whether you are republican or democrat, this report should leave you sick to your stomach.
I hear Flynn fired his attorneys, and is going another route, will appeal because of bad legal advice. We will see what happens.
