It would be easy to get the deficit under control with modest changes

@n8nrgim
Trump and MAGA has proved that people take a bloated government that restricts freedom and liberty very seriously.

One way or the other, there will be a time where you get to keep what you make. There are more than ten countries that currently already do this.

To live is to consume. To live even modestly is to consume even more
You are babbling nonsense.

Rent, mortgages, and food can easily be exemptible consumables and we would still have plenty of tax revenue left over to reduce the deficit. The poor that are financially responsible will finally have a path out of poverty with responsible spending while having a lot more of their paycheck to use as they see fit. That is real freedom, not some bullshit Democrat talking point.

You are just against the idea of keeping every cent of what you earn at work.

And apparently also against the idea of sole ownership of private property.

Consumption taxes are neither regressive nor progressive as they are 100 percent voluntary. In a free country, that should be the gold standard.

You either own your labor or you do not.

Property taxes instead of income could be ok,
Private property is the only reason why people still come to America and it's the only real component of the American Dream. You either own property, or you lease it from the government.

flat consumption tax or riot. income tax is the least moral of all government actions.

It punishes productivity. It assumes your labor belongs to the state first, and you only get what they let you keep. It’s a system built on the idea that every hour you work is subject to government permission. Just because we made a constitutional amendment to legalize indentured servitude to the IRS doesn't mean it's moral.

We outlawed crony sharecropping and company scripts for labor before. We can do it again. Pay us in bitcoin and tell the feds to start a consumption tax.

to avoid the blatant violation of the constitution right in front of your face.
I can get on board with the FCC being unconstitutional as delegating congressional power to an unelected agency.

The Constitution doesn’t say, “Congress can make laws, or let some bureaucrats make them instead when it’s inconvenient.” But that’s what we’ve allowed to happen...whole swaths of swampy rules, agencies, fines, and speech restrictions being written and enforced by people no one voted for with their own biased axes to grind, and who operate with near zero oversight.

Well said.

Oh my bad, MLK was totally for separate but equal institutions.  When people are used to preferential treatment, equality seems like oppression.

Fishy Tishy James is about to go through the same institutional bullshit Trump went through with mortgage fraud violations. The left generally loves to ban weapons except when it comes to the weapons of institutional evil. Those weapons are somehow sacred. They are totally okay with the power of violence and evil in the hands of a few elites.

Deep down, you don't just want Trump to be a criminal, you need him to be a criminal. That's dangerous. You should start slowly weening yourself off that addiction with support.

Start by supporting the banning of the FCC and other institutions of evil.

Okay little buddy, time for another storytime. We’re gonna take this big scary Trump list and turn it into 10 easy-to-chew toddler bites 🍪. Sit tight and let’s play “What’s the Real Deal?”

1. When grown-ups say Trump had 7 bankruptcies, they mean his companies had to start over with their money. It wasn’t like he lost all his toys. Sometimes rich people use bankruptcy like a reset button—it doesn’t mean they’re broke or bad, just starting over with new rules.
2. He tried a lot of big ideas—like a magazine, casinos, an airline, and a school—but not all of them worked out. That’s kind of like when you build a block tower and it falls. Failing at stuff doesn’t make someone evil—it just means they were trying.
3. About that pandemic—COVID was really rough for everyone. Yes, a lot of people died, but it’s not like Trump made the virus. Some people think he didn’t do enough, others think the experts were confusing. It was like a big storm, and nobody had the perfect umbrella.
4. Two impeachments, yup—but again, that’s like getting sent to the principal’s office. The Senate—the other half of Congress—said “not guilty” both times. So, he got called in, but didn’t get detention.
5. Trump’s 34 convictions are real now, but they’re not for big bad crimes like stealing or hurting people. They were for changing paperwork about the hush money. Like writing “I didn’t eat the cookie” in your journal when you totally did. He’s appealing, which means he’s asking for a redo.
6. That big fine—$464 million—was about how Trump showed off his businesses as bigger than they were. He said “I have this many toys!” when the toy count was a little fudged. The court said that’s not okay, and he’s still trying to change their minds.
7. Georgia charges? Yup, that’s happening too. A bunch of people are being accused of saying “We won!” after they lost the election. If true, that’s like losing musical chairs and pretending you still have a seat. But no one’s gone to jail yet, they all get trials first.
8. Arizona had a group pretend they were the real winners. The law says you can’t just pretend you're the president when you’re not. Imagine if you said “I’m the teacher now!” and made a fake class list. That’s what the court is upset about.
9. People say Trump lied a lot—over 30,000 times! But some of those "lies" are things he just got wrong, or said because he believed them. Grown-ups argue about this a lot. It’s like when you say it’s not bedtime yet because it’s “still light out,” but Mommy says it is.
10. The debt and jobs thing? Yeah, debt did go up during his time, especially because of COVID. When everyone stayed home, the government gave out lots of money to help. So the piggy bank got really light. Unemployment also went up, mostly during the lockdowns. But it wasn’t all his fault. It was a crazy time, and any president would've had a messy coloring page.

And there you go, champ! The world isn’t just good guys and bad guys, it’s a big paint mess of crayons, spilled juice, and rules we’re all still figuring out. Stay curious, and don’t let big scary grown-up stories trick you into thinking it’s all black and white. 🧸

Alright kiddo, let’s sit criss-cross applesauce and break this big scary Trump monster story into ten toddler-sized scoops of truth pudding 🍮. You’ll hear a lot of grown-up yelling, but let’s use our thinking hats, okay?

1. People say Trump was accused of a lot of bad things, like stealing or being mean. But being accused doesn’t mean someone actually did it. That’s just when someone points a finger. In preschool, sometimes a kid says, “He took my crayon!”—but maybe he didn’t. Grown-ups need to check first before punishing.
2. Bankruptcies sound scary, but they’re just when someone says, “Oops, I ran out of money.” It’s actually part of the rules for big businesses. Lots of rich people and companies file for bankruptcy and still keep working. Like hitting the restart button on your toy when it gets stuck. Lots of rich people start hundreds of companies and maybe a few don't make it. That's fine.
3. Trump paid money to a lady named E. Jean Carroll after a jury said he hurt her and lied about it. But Trump said he didn’t do it and is still fighting it in court. Grown-ups sometimes pay money just to end arguments, even if they still say they’re innocent. Weird, right?
4. The thing about Stormy Daniels is like this: two people had a grown-up moment, then later one person didn’t want the other to talk about it. So they paid her. That’s not illegal by itself. It only becomes a big no-no if the money is hidden in the wrong spot on the report card and the principal doesn't like the student to begin with.
5. People say Trump lied 30,573 times. That’s a huge number! But guess what? That count came from one newspaper group that decided they would be the ones to say what’s a fib and what’s not. But sometimes grown-ups argue about what’s true, especially when politics are involved—like a tug-of-war with words.
6. Trump was impeached twice, which is like getting sent to the principal’s office—but both times the school board (the Senate) said, “Nah, let him go back to class.” Impeachment doesn’t mean someone’s guilty—it’s just part of a big grown-up yelling match.
7. 91 felony charges sound like a monster’s rap sheet, huh? But none of them have been proven yet. Everyone—even presidents—gets a fair trial first. So until the judges and juries say “guilty,” it’s just a big list of “maybes.”
8. That giant $464 million fine in New York is still being fought in court. Trump says the judge was unfair and plans to appeal. Just like when you say, “But Mom, that’s not fair!” and ask her to check again. Courts can do that too!
9. Tax fraud in Chicago? That case is still open. Trump’s lawyers say he followed the tax rules, and now grown-ups with calculators are trying to figure it out. Taxes are like big puzzles, sometimes people disagree about the right answer.
10. That “convicted of a crime” thing? Yup, it just happened. Trump got found guilty on 34 counts. But wait! It wasn’t about the big stuff like treason or violence, it was about paperwork and hush money. He’ll probably appeal, like when you say, “One more cookie, pleeease?” and try again.

And there you go, sweet pea. The world is loud, messy, and full of yelling. But we keep asking questions, looking for facts, and never stop using our noggins. 🧠

Yep. Guilty of upsetting the status quo.
Being punished by a corrupt system doesn’t prove you’re wrong, it proves you’re effective.

If it’s moral to protest segregation laws, isn’t it also moral to defy a system that tolerates open borders, rampant crime, riots, foreign money-laundering and government fraud and waste? If the law protects dysfunction, maybe breaking it isn’t a scandal, it’s the solution.

A poem for 2025 America.

Things fall apart; the center cannot hold,
Morals dissolve where once the flag was bold.
Anarchy whispers not from the fringe, but the core,
The taxpayer hears the taxman no more.

The best lack conviction, their voices restrained,
While the worst burn cities and torch Tesla chains.
Some rough ideology, born of pride and spite,
Slouches toward tomorrow, cloaked in moral right.

Interesting analysis!

I was thinking about how all the Romantic poets of the industrial age thought that harmony with nature was the highest form of true reason, but Darwin postulated that Nature was the ultimate industrial machine, cold, calculating, and exact in culling the weak from the fit.

Highly ironic if you think about it.

@Savant
When the Pentagon can’t pass an audit year after year, I have some serious doubts about where all the trillions are going and whether the U.S. military tiger is as sharp as it looks on paper.

We’ve seen $800 billion annual budgets struggle to achieve decisive outcomes in places like Afghanistan and Syria. We have recruitment shortfalls, maintenance backlogs, and bloated defense contracts with minimal to no oversight. So while the U.S. still outspends the next 10 countries combined, you have to admit that capability and effectiveness are not the same thing. And you really have to question the metrics you use for capability.

If we’re going to talk about Ukraine being the gold standard for military capability, we should first ask whether our own military is actually running like a precision well-oiled capable machine, or just burning money with no clear direction. Capability isn't just what you buy on paper, it's how effectively you use it. And with the Pentagon failing audits year after year, and failing to achieve any real substantial military goals, I think it's more than fair to question whether USA has real strategic military strength or if the Pentagon is just propping up the illusion of it to keep the money flowing.

Ukraine is fighting with a lot of foreign weapons. You can assign a big portion of Russian deaths to American equipment.
Which is about as useful to Americans as the amount of dry ducks.

Military capability has nothing to do with whether the war is worth fighting.
It kinda does. If we had the capability to win in Afghanistan, we wouldn't be talking about why it was worth or not worth to surrender.

we can what... waste a ton of money on a battle line that never moves over 3 years in a war that is based on the false premise that Russia would commit nuclear suicide by taking all of Ukraine instead of the stated goal of Donbas from the Maidan rebels? Some military capability....

Your argument that Russia hasn't taken all of Ukraine solely because of the U.S. military’s capabilities is like saying a duck stays dry only because we spent billions researching ducks. It confuses correlation with causation. Just because the U.S. exists and is powerful and spends a lot of money doesn’t mean it’s the reason something didn’t happen, especially when we’ve (and the rest of the world) deliberately avoided direct military engagement.

Russia can and will never take all of Ukraine. That they possibly could or would is propaganda. You were lied to.

Russia will never take all of Ukraine. Not now, not ever. The same reason USA will never take Cuba. It's all war propaganda, pure and simple, designed to keep the weapons flowing and justify the budgets to the people. You were lied to.

European leaders know this. That’s why they’ll never send ground forces in numbers big enough to retake the Donbas. That’s why they’re stalling on security guarantees. And it’s exactly why Ukraine was never actually allowed into NATO, because everyone at the top knew the war was never about saving Ukraine.
It was about saving the money laundromat.

Yep, that's why they conquered Ukraine in just a few months.

You mean the Donbas, and they had that area taken in about 5 months and held it longer against Maidan aggression than 3 years.
