This is the price society pays for handing problematic people with a 40% suicide attempt rate to corporate medical interests.
I think deep down they knew some of those suicidal young people would grow up and decide to take some of us with them but pushing a profitable narrative of conversion therapies was too much to resist.

Do you really think your table shaking can compete with a 9.1 Honshu magnitude?
Earthquakes are safest when only in the hands of the Government. Have we learned nothing from history?

Simple.
Ban Earthquakes.
If that fails, ban people.

I get that it's really easy to compare other countries, but you can't expect to get all the good stuff that other countries have without the bad stuff as well.
You can have near zero crime and murders in the USA; but the tradeoff is the country looks like China or Singapore. The more free a country is, the more crime. That's a unavoidable cost of a free nation. The authoritarianism required to make a country safe will also make it a country not worth living in.
EU nations have plenty of problems that the USA does not have. There are tradeoffs for changing the entire fabric of a nation.
If there is something all Americans forgot to appreciate during the Covid lockdown years is that the price for safety paid with a loss of freedom makes life extremely depressing and bleak. You can't be so obsessed with staying alive that you completely miss out on the experience of life. It's why we take risks in the first place, because an unexamined life is not worth living as Socrates said. It's why millions of migrating people flee their familiar homes to take a chance on this country.
Benjamin Franklin once said: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

The accepted Ugly American culture is the very reason why China is becoming the world leader in creating international peace deals and forging new alliances instead of wars for oil. It's good that a responsible country will step in to fill the void.

the number one killer of children in the United States,
cough abortion....(just kidding)
It doesn't matter where you go on the planet, there will always be a number one killer of anyone, whether it is guns, disease, bad water, big macs. or a tyrannical Marxist regime.
It doesn't mean nobody is doing anything.

What would you consider to be "in whack"
Like, how many killings in a nation of 340 million would be considered "a normal amount" to you.

@Sidewalker
Also, 81% of all school shootings involved at least one handgun, even the school shootings that don't make the news.
There's no logical reason to upgrade those handguns.
If you want to go on a shooting spree, a government sanctioned handgun with a standard clip is more than than adequate and acceptable without the unnecessary upgrades.

@Sidewalker
It's a rhetorical question supporting your argument.
Created:

@Sidewalker
The question was why does a person think they need a semiautomatic rifle with a large clip
Exactly. If 90% of gun deaths can easily happen in Democrat cities with handguns, why the unnecessary upgrade?

@ADreamOfLiberty
I find it so hypocritical that Democrats wont go after handguns, which is the number one killer out of all guns. Mostly because it's Democrat criminals that use them.

The can is only able to be kicked so many times.
The most recent recession probability estimates, based on our probability model, remain near 99 percent pointing to the likelihood of a recession in the US within the next 12 months. This is largely due to the Federal Reserve’s interest rate hikes.
While recession probability hovered near zero after the initial phase of the global pandemic from September 2020 to March 2022, it rose to over 30 percent in April and reached 50 percent in May. This means that the US economy is likely to enter a recession within a year from that point onward. The probability has kept rising since then.

War is going to end one way or another. If America refuses peace, eventually they will lose the petrodollar over it when China replaces it with the yuan.
That will cost the US trillions of dollars as they lose the global war for oil.

Mexico already violates US laws. US lets them do it as long as the money flows to the right people.
US is almost as corrupt as Ukraine and Russia.
Created:
- Ukrainians remember that the last time Russia took over, they used that authority to genocide every Ukrainian they could find and then moved Russians into the empty farms and towns. Ukrainians have no choice but to fight to the death: that choice is either die free now or die enslaved later. Ordinary Russians have no beef with Ukraine and no motive to fight. Ukriane will win because Ukrainians are fighting for their lives while an incompetent Russian army wastes its soldiers on a cause none believe in. Even if Russia kills Zelensky and takes ove govt., the Ukrainian people are now one unified, European nation that will resist Russian autocracy until Russia is no more. Russia will fall apart again before Ukraine does.
Yeah, imagine if every word of that was false, and Putin actually wants to return to the world of 2014 before Ukraine violated the Minsk treaty in order to protect ethnic Russians in the Donetsk from being "genocided" by Azov barbarians.
Oh! but somehow that peace deal is sooo unacceptable to the point that America will advocate for the elimination of an entire generation of Ukrainians in their conquest over the ethnic Russians in Donetsk.

@Best.Korea
so strange how much America is allowed to do what Russia is not allowed...

Putin has no more right to dictate Ukrainian foreign policy than Mexico has a right to dictate US policy
But America has a right to dictate whether or not Ukraine, a supposedly independent nation, can have a peace treaty?

From our fear of our own mortality combined with our narcism
I would think an atheist would be the proud one and the religious person the humble one.
God probably was a construct to explain the vestigial hierarchical herd instincts developed over millions of years of evolution, much in the same way as the Bible was constructed to explain entropy and natural chaos and suffering.

Pro Tip:
Any American can be convinced to support far-right insurrections with the proper CIA guided propaganda.
In truth, the Maidan Revolution remains a messy event that isn’t easy to categorize but is far from what Western audiences have been led to believe. It’s a story of liberal, pro-Western protesters, driven by legitimate grievances but largely drawn from only one-half of a polarized country, entering a temporary marriage of convenience with the far right to carry out an insurrection against a corrupt, authoritarian president. The tragedy is that it served largely to empower literal neo-Nazis while enacting only the goals of the Western powers that opportunistically lent their support — among which was the geopolitical equivalent of a predatory payday loan.
It’s a story tragically common in post–Cold War Europe, of a country maimed and torn apart when its political and social divisions were used and wrenched further apart in the tussle of great power rivalry. And the Western failure to understand it has led us to a point where Washington continues to recklessly involve itself in a place full of shadowy motives, shifting allegiances, and where little is what it seems on the surface.
Western involvement helped bring the country to this crisis. There’s little reason to think it’ll now get it out.
